Work / Polish Labor Is Scarce as Workers Go West [60]

The exodus is believed to be one of the largest migrations by Europeans since the 1950s, when a wave of Irish crossed the Atlantic to escape poverty.

I am not disputing this by any means, actually there was massive immigration right up until about 8 years ago. And that has been happening for hundreds of years. There are Irish people all over the world, I would say mostly U.S.A, U.K. and Germany.

All of my friends have moved back to Ireland to work, because they knew (for the first time in Irish history) that there were opportunities. That is my generation, my older brother's generation and every generation before that, if they left, they left for good.

Poland still has a long way to go and the people who have left probably won't believe the positive changes that have taken place over the last 3 years.

Let the Ukrainians go to work here in Poland.
And for God sake get rid of all the bureaucracy.
As Poland gets better, people will not leave.
It is a better thing to complain about too much work , than not enough.

Language / nice things to say to a girl in polish [103]

"sit on my face and tell me that you love me"

I still think that is the best thing to say, you may call me old fashioned, any way I just think a girl ought to be treated right.

the second chorus, for you politically correct folf is " I'll sit on you face and tell you I love yuooooooo, toooooo"
Monthy python rock,
The real question is how do you confuse a cat or someone on a forum?
I believe the answer to be 42?
if you understand this , you need help

Monthy python "sit on my face and tell me that you love me"
It is actually a song and ment as a joke, I do believe that people respond to certain stimulus but get a grip and say what you feel/think

Life / Well You visited and/or lived in Poland, tell us what its like. [41]

I *think* that I see where you are coming from... if you take London as an example, an Investment Banker from New York and living in Mayfair is going to see the city differently than somebody who is born and bred Bethnal Green. Is that what you mean?

Nepal’s royal family was virtually wiped out when the heir to the throne, Prince Dipendra, shot and killed King Birendra (55), Queen Aishwarya (51) and several other family members before shooting himself.

This guy was heir to the throne, sweet life right? obviously not. I am not talking about a money thing or a relationship thing, I am talking about a perception thing, a life thing.

that story stuck in my head for years.
Life is ****, deal with it, have a laugh

You can't say "I hate bigos". Other than that you are free to speak.

That's class and much more about what I am talking about

Life / How long can I survive with 60.000 zloty in Poland? [13]

and like ı drinking..

So do I, a bar down the road sells pints, oops half litres for 350 PLN more or less 1 Euro. Polish beer rocks!!!
But I do not like that bar much, a bit on the old side for me, but very friendly.
Where I drink it costs 4.50 Zloty a pint, groovey vibes and the beer here is stronger than in Ireland, i am sure

Life / Well You visited and/or lived in Poland, tell us what its like. [41]

I think life is too short to mope around making non-constructive negative opinions.

what is their reality
and yours isnt the same..

I agree, If I understand you correctly, if you change the way you perceive things, the things you perceive change.
I like to think of myself as a realist with a tint of optimism.

which is same for every country , especially those
who are tourists.. some places are not for visitors.. as much as we like to protect
our country.. we all know bad things happen.

I do not understand what you are trying to say? could you please clarify.
I also think sometimes people like wallowing in misery, like a pig in mud.
Life is difficult enough, I suppose I just like to look at it and laugh, beats crying.

valmoe1

I agree, I also love it here

even though we know not everything is
perfect :)

I do not understand why people on this forum are so negative, it seems almost like if someone does have some positive view they are belittled, nowhere is perfect (so why say that), but if valmoe1 or I enjoy living here why would it bother you, I am not having a go at you Patrycja19 and I do apologise if it looks that way, this is my first forum and maybe it has something more fundamental to do with people who use forums.

I have just given up telling people that I REALLY enjoy living here and that things are good. I have lived in far worse place, believe me.

I suppose it is also part of the human condition, just watch the news, read a news paper, doom and gloom, happy stories dont sell, people are just not interested

UK, Ireland / Polish Entrepreneurs wanted to expand in Europe [19]

I am now calling your bluff, if you do have something on the level, tell us all now.
Why will you not expand upon on what it is you are looking for?
You have and always had the power to stop this post from being in a sad state.
And if it is a genuine offer, who knows it could be to everyone's benefit.
But I think you will not tell us any more information, prove me wrong

LondonChick

Once in a lfe time opertunity
Ever feel sad?
Ever loose someone close?
Ever feel insecure?
Have woken up just not wanting to go to work?
Well for a nominal fee you can change, through away the shackles of your old self and be all you can be.
Jesus, I am good at this (scary), I tell you, it has never been the same since Scientology, the separation of religion and business were blurred.

Feck it I might set up my own religion/self improvement business.
Anyone? you just have to give me all your worldly possession, LondonChick?

UK, Ireland / Are the Poles in England hated? [450]

there is good and bad every were,I just hope and prey, there more good,

I hope so too.
It is amazing how people project their narrow understanding on you. Who or what you are is almost immaterial.
I suppose categorising is a simple way to form order out of chaos.

UK, Ireland / Are the Poles in England hated? [450]

I didn't say that :)

Excuse me, I must have pressed the wrong quote button.

sunka.

Fair enough, I have spell check set up on this, I can't spell, thank goodness for it.

I have worked in different places in England and years ago I was referred to as a F!"king Paddy Bast"£$£ by some English people (now it is kinda fashionable to be Irish). I find that some Polish will have to go through that as well, as I see it the Poles are the new Irish, the main difference is that Polish people don't generally speak perfect English (ha ha, I am not saying that Irish people do either) , you gave us your language and we gave you back literature ;)

But there is no bad blood between Polish and English, so I am very interested about this topic.

UK, Ireland / Are the Poles in England hated? [450]

can you imagine English people talking polish us good us what polski people can talk English, lol no chance, were too lazy, think about it.....

In fairness I think when you live in another country you ought to learn their language, not visa versa, I live in Poland, I therefore, take the responsibility of learning Polish. It is a bit unfair to to suggest English people should learn Polish. Although I understand your sentiment, English speakers (not just English people) generally are bad at learning foreign languages, I think, because today it is the main language and tomorrow, when it is Mandarin or Hindi I wonder will it be different?

iam a english guy, been in England, all my life

Really? I do not mean to be insulting but your English is not all that great.

Life / Cultural readjustment... returning to Poland from the West. [58]

May I start by saying this is one of the most interesting threads I have read.

I have prior experience with Third world banana republics, so for me Poland really isn't that idiotic.

Myself and my better half have just moved back to Poland from such a banana republic and Poland is like a proper western country in comparison, it still has some way to go but nothing too crazy.

I think for me a big thing is where in Poland you live, not somewhere out in the sticks, or too close to the family.

I know from personal experience, London is fast and furious, and moving to a small town is boring.
I will be paying close attention to this thread, keep'em coming

Real Estate / Change of land use from agricultural to tourist in Poland [2]

Visit the local town council, ask them, first thing is to find out is if they have a general plan i.e. have they divided the area for different uses, residential, commercial and you are looking for recreational.

I imagine that it is south of Debica in the mountains.
Investigate the area fully before committing. Are there enough tourist/campers to make a living off it would be my biggest concern.
Expect many visits to many offices,
it just has to be done, do not let it dishearten you.
Good luck!

News / EU a beacon of light for the World to follow [85]

So here we are, people from Poland , Netherlands, England, Ireland and goodness knows where else, discussing (disagreeing) about the EU.
I hope the EU hasn't and doesn't become a dictatorship of our countries, yet we must unite to be competitive in the world market. There is no country in the EU or outside that does not have a dark past. One of the things I like about the EU is at least the pretence that our differences make us stronger.

And as far as what happened and is happening I hope Poland can do simular to Ireland and improve where we have not. One of the best things about the human race is the ability to learn from other peoples mistakes.

The EU are never going to be one big happy family (nor are we on pf) but I do think we can get along co-operate and achieve positive results for all member states.
