Love / Polish Gay Life [142]

I just found out that Tchaikovsky (Wiki) was gay.
Can catch gayness by listening to his music?

Only the disco version.

Food / Is there any other Polish seafood exept herring and carp? [30]

I've done feta and black olives, and the combination worked. There used to be a great restaurant (u Hopfera on Krakowskie Przedmieście, now sadly closed) who did feta and spinach - also nice.

I also once had almond, honey and poppyseed pierogi, with cream. That was really good.

Try feta and spinach or black olives in pierogi. Or more authentically, pierogi lwowskie with bolognese filling.

Mintaj (pollock) could work well in a chowder. Cod is available here - people even go cod fishing for sport, but a lot of Polish people have told me they don't like it.

Does not believing in the holocaust makes him a worse leader? Where does he talk about wiping out the whole nation?

With Ahmedinajad, it seems to be a case of "the lady doth protest too much". He himself was born to Jewish parents, and has been attacked by election opponents about this. He is trying to prove something.

The man is unfortunately crazy. But his favourite uniform involves lace rather than jackboots.

Travel / Wireless internet in Warsaw [9]

UPC for the landline in my new flat are a pleasant surprise compared to the rest. And their internet service, with free WIFI, router is fast and cheap.

Play pay-as-you go is quite slow, but enough to use day to day. Just pray that you don't need to phone them for anything.

Play's not too bad. They had some system problems a few weeks ago, and I, along with many others couldn't load our sim cards, but it was sorted in a few days.

Awkward customer service though.

Nazi into the Church.. Mr. Williamson.

Bishop Williamson, loathesome though he is, isn't a Nazi, just a fool.

Hilter was an ex-Catholic

Benedict was indeed a member of the Hitlerjugend, because it was compulsory, and he showed no enthusiasm for it.

He received Bishop Williamson into the Church who had been an outspoken holocaust denier

The Vatican did not help hundreds of Nazis escape. The Church (or various priests therein) helped thousands of Nazis escape.

LOL !

That's exactly what Leszek Bubel is. He's also facing trial for publishing racist material.

Travel / Gdansk - need some information about it [21]

Everywhere in the world where there are tourists there are thieves. (Travel rule #1)

Indeed.

Gdańsk is a fairly friendly place. It doesn't seem to have any real centre though. The Old Town is first and foremost a tourist place, ul. Grundwaldska stretches on for ever, and people seem to pop between Gdańsk and the rest of the Tri-city on the SKM all the time. If there's a real heart of Gdańsk, maybe it's in Wrzeszcz.

Genealogy / Where is Brazazowa or Brazazowka? [24]

The lingo changes - maybe someone can explain.

Excuse my vulgarity, (twice in one day, because there are two threads about this), but "pinda" is a soft(ish) slang word for vagina. "Ty pindo" is a slightly amusing light insult.

You can check this out on Google Images. If you dare.

Life / Social networking sites used by teens in Poland? [13]

Facebook is indeed growing, and Nasza Klasa still popular.

One very big one in Poland is grono.net - a homegrown Polish site that's been going for a few years now, with a lot of users, most, but not all, young.

Hmm. The Conservative lobby in the US is both wealthy and organised.

And the two organisations (along with many others of the same opinion) are entirely independent and respected.

Life / Where can i get a real good piece of juicy steak in Warsaw....? [15]

Finding decent beef for other purposes (flank steak, round, etc.) is still pretty difficult

I agree. A lot of 'meat shops' here are exactly that. Shops that sell pre-butchered meat. There's a good one on ul. Czerniakowska (called, I think, 'John') and shops in the '£uków' chain often have a trained butcher present.

One bargain here is beef heart. People don't buy it much, which keeps the price down, and if you cook it right, it can be wonderful.

flip... because there is not one

Check out the American Psychiatric Association. Or from the same country, the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Both are quite clear that human sexuality is not a matter of choice.

lost in this is that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice

Or perhaps a sexuality.

Unless you can cite even one iota of hard evidence that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice.

Yep, they're (in Poland anyway) a part of the Church

SSPX are part of the Church, but he isn't. He left. He's under the authority of 'bishop' Donald Sanborn, who is not in any way part of the Catholic Church.

And even in Poland, sedevacantists aren't part of the Church. After all, they believe there's no Pope, which precludes them from membership in any form.

Do you know if they are accepted by the regular catholic church in Poland?

Most definitely not. Rafał Trytek was a member of SSPX, who (since I think last year) are accepted, but he left because they weren't extreme enough for him. He's now a member of a US-based fringe religion.

He isn't a Roman Catholic. He's a Sedevacantist.

History / Ross kemp on Polish Gangs/Nazis - Untermenschen Nazis..?? [69]

jonni:
For no reason except their own inadequacy.
oh pleaseeee.......

Check out Theodore Adorno's study of the 'fascist personality'. He found that people holding extreme right wing and racist political opinions harboured deep feelings of inadequacy, powerlessness and inferiority. It makes good reading.
