Language / Changes in the Polish Language [11]

I know one word I never heard before in The Polish language, about 20 years ago when I was living there. Now all of a sudden about 10 years later I started hearing this word. I don't know when it came into the Polish language.

It was TIR.

Life / Halloween in Poland? [77]

The house I live in is more than 130 years old and I sometimes think it is haunted. Haven't seen anything tonight though.

Why do you think it's haunted?
There's this abandoned house I went to with my friends last week at night. It was very windy and we heard something banging and my friends were getting scared, but since I was the driver I had the control when to leave.

So we stayed.
We had cameras with us, because they can detect spirits. I took a picture first. Then we sat in my van and listened to weird noises. later my friend took pictures at the exact spot. When we developed the pictures, I didn't see anything strange on mine, but her's had this orb sitting on the doorstep.

The house is over 100 years old sitting on a dead end road surrounded by miles and miles of corn-fields.....Spooky.

Travel / First Time to Krakow [21]

If you'll be renting a car watch out for other drivers, because the roads might not be that good if there's a lot of snow. They don't plow like in the US and might have road construction. So be careful. If not renting, make sure you know which bus or tramwaj to take.

Poles will gladly help you out, they like to have a chance to speak english and many are studying that language. Krakow has a lot of history, it was the first capital of Poland and has some of the oldest buildings in Europe. If you stay at a hotel, you will get information what to see and do and meet other foreigners. Once you're there is not scary, it's just the thought of going to a foreign country that scares you.

A souldier stationed in Korea was telling me they breed dogs for food and heard them killing them. He said it was the most awful sound he ever heard.

Life / I want to leave Poland [82]

They didn't eat my pony. It wouldn't fit in their trunk.
I don't think about it. I forgave and forgot. It's in the past. My daughter goes to kindergarten with Hmong children and occasionally I go there to eat lunches and play in the playground. They're nice kids. They all follow me around. I only didn't like the guys that stole my dogs.

But it's over now.

Life / I want to leave Poland [82]

Hmongs are people from Laos. They come from the mountains, they live without running water and electricity. They like eating dogs and cats, and when they first came to USA, they did not know that we don't eat our pets and 3 of my dogs disapeared when they showed up as well as many others' . I was angry because they were purebred show dogs which I raised for showing and breeding.

They stopped doing it now because they got into trouble for doing it. But we still have to watch our dogs.

Life / I want to leave Poland [82]

I just watched a holocaust movie, the concentration camps in Poland, people telling their stories, how they murdered innocent children by smashing their heads on rocks, etc. And it makes me think, that people like freddy are not any different than hitler. They feel it's in their duty to destroy less fortunate then themselves, be they Jewish or Polish. We are all human beings, we all have feelings, we all need food to survive.

England is being invaded by Poles, but Poles are being invaded by Muslims. it's a cicle. Life is too short. It's not their fault they were born Jewish or Polish. We all need to survive.

There was an influx of Hmongs in Wisconsin. Some didn't like it, but now they came to realize that they are people too.
But too much of anything is not good. England is an Island and they should have limits as to how many people can stay there. Too many Poles in England is not a good idea. Specially if they don't have a job, because then they become not welcomed.

Why is it that GB people are are such snobs? They don't want to share their country with other nations, yet they invade other countries.

Love / In love with one polish girl (but she loves my money) [32]

Hey, this Polish girl was only after your money. She knew you were a push-over and that she could use you because you would do anything for her. She took advantage of you!

I know the feeling, because I was a push-over to my x and he used it against me at the end. I would buy him everything and the more I bought him, the more he wanted. He worked too, but he spent his money on beer and his own interests. He hardly got me anything and was demanding more and more from me.

Listen, you're the type of person who is honest, vulnerable, maybe a bit naive, you believe in people, you trust them and the wrong types of people see that and take advantage of you. But there are still good people left.

You just have to find her, keep looking, believe in yourself, honest and good people will get their reward. And watch out, because she might find you first.

UK, Ireland / polish culture, for polish living in UK [10]

If it's for Polish people only why would it be in English?
That's good that they offer this so others can learn something about Poland. Every one should see the movie "Korczak". (Or maybe not.)

But other countries would get a better understanding of how Poland and it's people suffered.
