History / Czterej pancerni i pies- Communist propaganda? [16]

Only on rare instances

Sjam:
Next time, please quote the entire phrase, thank you..

which had been pro-Nazi, but also in Poland, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, which had not been

Any numbers though? Probably in the hundreds? Of course, this is what you can expect when an army has many criminals enlisted so late in the war...

Like I said, there were rapes in these countries, but nowhere near as widespread in the Axis.
Some Russian soldiers even raped concentration camp victims. This is surely a sign of deviant behaviour and not some standard in the Red Army.

Was it ok to rape German women

German Wehrmacht and SS murdered, raped, tortured women and children on their way through Russia in 1940 and beyond... Was it o.k for them? No. Simply, Russians remembered this when the tides turned, and it was their turn to invade Germany.

Another fact is that near the end of the war effort, a big chunk of the Red Army was made up of men from the far reaches of Russia, from the steppe, and also, criminals evacuated from prisons to be cannon fodder. When these kind of barbaric men pass through a rich country like Germany, without having seen a woman, don't you think that some pillaging and raping will happen?

History / Czterej pancerni i pies- Communist propaganda? [16]

What are your thoughts on this 'seriał' that was aired in communist Poland, and continues to be shown? Is it wrong to show such Polish-Russian comaradery in light of Katyn, and Russian invasion in 1939?

In my opinion, it should continued to be shown. Many ordinary Russian soldiers fought well to free Poland later in the war, although it was to be bittersweet for Poland. Fact remains that many of our Russian brothers blood stains Polish soil... Stalin's agenda was Stalin's agenda. But ordinary Russians conscripted into the army did not have much of a say. Another fact is that Russians did not rape, or murder while passing through Poland. Only on rare instances which you will find in any army filled with men who have not had female companionship for such a long time...

I don't think anyone should take the show for anything more than entertainment purposes. Much of it is flawed, although the equipement, tanks, weapons are all real. Most of that was used from post-War Soviet military stockpiles.

My favourite song:

Food / Why do Poles just not "understand" healthy eating ?? [82]

Healthiest Chip Dip In the World

2 teaspoons turmeric
1 teaspoon black pepper

half a red bell pepper
1 avacado
2 small bunches of kolendra... (cillantro?)
some fresh oregano, (for taste) half a bunch, usually for me
5 cloves of garlic
1 tomato

-Blend together with a bit of water, and voila...

Don't have to eat this with chips.. I have been in the habit of eating it by itself. It is a perfect immune booster.

Food / Pierogi taboos ways you SHOULD NOT create/cook/season them. [18]

This is what I think you mean by Polish pierogi.

Bracie Sasha! I believe you have mistaken Polish pierogi for Chinese cuisine! Looks to be wonton ;)

Thank you for the clarification for Russian pirogi.

Sasha. Pierogi po rusku here in Poland are those perogies with cheese and potato.
Are those the most popular in Russia? I don't quite understand the reference..
From what I know, all sorts of perogies are made in each region of Slavija, with no specific region mastering one kind.

Love / How can a black man get a Polish women [248]

Being white doesn't make here better than anybody else

I don't think thats what she means. She simply is proud of her heritage, and wants to marry someone who has the same backround as her. In this world today, less and less people are apt to do that, and we will soon just be a big melting pot of all different cultures and colors. In my mind, thats not a good thing at all.

Zosiaprucha

Being a bitch about it though, won't help your cause. You seem to have quite a temper.

have no desire to live in Poland.

Why not?

Zosiaprucha

Why all the ganging up on Zosia? Because she doesn't want a black man, and has a preference for someone of her own culture? Frankly, its a nice change to hear someone who is proud of her heritage, and wants her children to be raised in the traditional fashion.

Love / should I go to Poland with him? [13]

1) If he's actually part of a gang, most likely he was just a run of the mill 'hool.' There is a team in Polish soccer league, Arka Gdynia, which has pretty big support. He might have had some small dealings with them. Nothing at all to get excited about.. I had some crazy years when I was young too.

2) If he actually was part of a very serious gang, chances are he wouldn't have been able to escape back to the U.S so easily. These gangs are very secretive, and once you are in, you are in forever. Unless you are killed, put in jail, rehabilitated, or simply too old for crime.

3) If this gang was actually that 'serious' to begin with, and he managed to escape, he wouldn't be so stupid as to go back.

4) He is lying to you, and using this supposedly 'bad past' to cover up for his deficencies. Or simply, because he knows your strange past, he is trying to make you worry about him for a chance.

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

Dmowski was not entirely at the extreme, however. I find myself agreeing with his ideas, more and more, as I read more about him. He was very intelligent, and seriously cared for the welfare of Poland, more than anything, even his own glory. This is a trait found very rarely in politicians today, and even then.

I believe, yes. But Poland is a different case than Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia.
There are barely any minor lingustic, or 'cultural-(religious) separations within the country itself, and I find it hard to believe that the forces could force a split. If Poland fell, surely it would be end of Slavic dream as entire country would crumble.

Poles are aware of this, yes. I believe that if this gradual attack on Slavic heartland in Serbia, was instead replaced by a hasty decision by NATO backed Albo's in the region, then most Polish population would wake up and realize the true gravity/seriousness. This is not to say that true patriots already realize what this could mean.

let it be so. Never again house of slavery. Never!

God bless you. Long live hope! Glory to Poland! Freedom to children of Slavija!

Thank you for your kind words!

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

he was the one who gave go ahead to mass tank production

Why would this qualify as something 'great?' The potential of tanks was already promoted in England by Fuller and Hart. And this idea was then adopted to some extent by German high command. The fact Hitler gave this the go-ahead, did not make him a very intelligent man. He simply agreed to proposals sent forth by his military commanders.

As we will see, most countries had a sizeable portion of tanks in 1939. France actually had more, and better tanks than the Nazis, but simply did not know how to use them... they emphasized dispersing their tanks throughout their ranks, rather than concentrating them.

but his failure is more on account of his luck running out than anything else.

No... not really. He made some poor decisions, based on emotion, rather than common-sense. You are an idiot for giving him this God-like/ invincible aura.

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

lol.. it is true. It was a well-made documentary, too. They did mention the drug use, but they also mentioned Hitler's sexual disfunction.

I wonder though, would it be a dry orgasm? more mental than physical satisfaction?
ha ha, if not, it would certainly lead to most embarassing situations afterwards with having to change his pants.

History / Polish soldier stories [50]

its the neverending story

I'm afraid it is...

Serbians think of Poles as of their own people

It is a good thing, too. I hope my brother, that you see similar sentiment in Poland. It is often masked by authorities. but overwhelming majority of population opposes recognition of Kosovo, and other NATO involvement in region. I wish to see a day where Poland would leave NATO, or at least cease to participate and have an active role in all military obligations.

Serbs understand that Poland is weak and under occupation

This sentiment cannot die... there have to be some voices of soberness.. the population cannot fall into total submission. it cannot be so. Tusk is a traitor, but thank god that his views are not yet supported by majority of Poles. Certain demonstrations of solidarity for our Serbian brothers certainly remind him, just in case he tries to forget.

I wish for our children, that they may be free of the chains.

Long live Serbija!

History / Roman Dmowski- Polish Adolf Hitler? [219]

He was a very sick man already at this point, often acting under drugs as we today know...

I once watched a documentary about Hitler, and his speeches. They tried to get the point across that Hitler would actually hit orgasm during the most intense part of his speech.

Is this true, BB?

Glory to Sarmatia!

Thank you, bracie.

I see that the story is from 2000. Is the same sentiment still predominant in Serbia? One of confusion and silence, when Poles are involved in NATO action in the region?

History / Taras Bulba - the movie [115]

Polish soldiers wear funny helmets, like firefighters or gladiators. :):):):) Cheap propaganda. :):):):):)

hahaha, good lord! I'd like to shoot the man that was in charge of costumes for this movie. I never knew that Roman cavalry helped to save Poland against Turkish hordes.

And what were they thinking with the blue clothing, worn by Poles??

I hope this will not be another piece of propaganda, like the Russian production, 1612, was.
How many of you are planning to see it in theatres?

History / Polish soldier stories [50]

Don't quote me on this one.

My Polish grandfaher was a captain in the cavalry, I believe he finished his officer school in Wilno before the war, and was stationed in and around Warsaw as the war broke out. I would have to search his booklet for his division, which I shall do later.

Anyway, I heard a story from a great uncle of mine a few years back, that his division was moved up to the front, to perform counter attacks on German supply lines.

My grandpa described in detail, as him and about 20 other soldiers, on horseback, rushed a German position of about 4 trucks, and about a dozen soldiers who were loading up their supply trucks with petrol. He remembers clearly, that a fellow soldier, rushed into a group of about 4 Germans, spilling them over. As the one lifted himself off the ground, he had his head severed, at the neck, by the Polish cavalryman's saber.

Again, I did not hear this firsthand, but it has been passed down. There were many instances like this, as long as the cavalry divisions were used in counterattack measures.

I've only mentioned this story, because it is rather interesting example of a very old mode of fighting. Something you don't associate with World War 2. But it was more effective than historians give it credit. Mostly for behind enemy line's activity, disrupting enemy supply lines and camps.
