there is definitely not a shortage of teachers..

That's right. Now with the cuts in the educational system, many teachers are out of work while the classrooms got larger. My university hires professors from India and other countries, and you can't understand a word they say. The university tries to save money and in the long run the students can't learn anything.

Wisconsin Dells hires hundreds of temporary workers from Europe each year, but this year the process of applying for multiple H-2B employees for the summer was low because the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services on Jan. 3 reached its cap for the number of workers. Also, as the American dollar has weakened against the euro, potential student workers from places such as Poland and Hungary are no longer so interested.

They now go to England and Ireland to work and practice their English rather than spending the $1,500 to $2,000 in airfare and visa fees that it takes to come here.

So

Did the person marry a US citizen? It doesn't matter where the marriage took place, but if married to a US citizen. The person needs a green card to be legally in the US. If the person has a valid visa, then he/she is also legal untill it expires.

They can apply for a green card, sometimes people get approved for the permanent one right away if married that long, but this all depends if that person was married to a US citizen and sometimes they might be asked to show proof of residency and paying taxes.

Did you know that Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is formulated differently for countries in Europe than for the U.S.? in 2008, Kraft removed artificial colorings, like yellow #5, and chemical sweeteners, like aspartame, from the products that they distribute in Europe, Australia, and other developed countries due to consumer concern over scientific studies that link these synthetic ingredients to hyperactivity and asthma in children. But, they haven't done the same thing here in the U.S.

A Polish guy in the US didn't pay his fine for a ticket 8 years ago and went back to Poland. Now he is back in the US again and got pulled over. They found all his information on the computer and had to pay his fine from years ago. Stuff stays on your record untill it's paid off. Thanks to computers ;)

Food / Anyone Heard of this Polish Pastry? [6]

Kołaczki. Simple pastry filled with fruit or custard in the middle

1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 package (8 oz.) cream cheese, softened
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
thick jam or canned fruit filling (apricot or prune)

Mix butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour and salt. Add in fourths to butter mixture, blending well after each addition. Chill dough until easy to handle. Roll dough to 3/8 inch thick on a floured surface. Cut out 2 inch circles or other shapes. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Make a "thumbprint" about 1/4 inch deep in each. Fill with jam. Bake at 350 for 10 to 15 minutes or until slightly browned on edges. makes about 3 1/2 dozen

because i can't see those girls are coming back later with tears in their eyes, broken heart. after all they are Polish.

You know why? Because the Americans found out they were only used to get a green card. But of course nobody will hear the other side of the story, it's always the "poor Polish girl" or the "poor Polish guy". Nobody forced them to marry an American. They wanted a green card and it didn't work out, so blame the American.

That's the difference between Poland and US. On Polish TV you see strippers, women feeling sexy, etc. and in the US those movies are only on pay TV and not available to young viewers and public TV. Alizma said they feel sexy but America public TV does not want sexy. They can be sexy in Vegas around adult viewers but not on public TV, that is fine in Poland but not here. And their singing in aweful. If they would have dressed more conservatively and stuck to their violins they would have been in.

No it's not. I didn't do it untill I was married. But everyone will do what they want with their life.
A woman has rights to her unborn child but once it's born then the father suddenly gets rights to it which is unfair, because she gave birth to it and she should still have more rights to the baby than a man, because men can't breast feed, etc. But In the US more and more rights are given to men, who have no clue about raising children yet were given split custody. These children often grow up without nursing the mother because the courts ordered that the father should also raise the child.

Then they wonder why so many misbehaved kids running around.

What do Polish people in Ireland think of Irish food?

I think they only like Polish food. Some Poles don't like American food, they will try it but they then will change the ingredients like adding ketchup or something else to make it taste like Polish. But every country brings their own style of food with them and stick to it. The chinese making monkey brain stews, Japanese sushi, Koreans eating dogs, Italians with their spaghetti, Hindus with their curry, etc. They will always make their own food regardless where they are.

This should help you avoid looking silly when trying to speak Polish, and thus you won't look like an ignorant foreigner when in Poland.

He won't look like an ignorant foreigner in Poland just because he doesn't speak Polish. You might call someone ignorant when you live in Chicago for 20 years and still can't speak english.

But dress casually, don't attract attention because if they know you're a foreigner they might try to rob you.

In the US they warn you if there is any violence or nudity or sexual content and they rate them accordingly as R or X and are shown on pay TV only. In Poland they are not rated accordingly and shown on public TV easily viewed by children. The same goes with Polish newspapers where they will throw in a picture or drawing of a naked woman in daily papers. In the US nude pictures go into specialized magazines not shown to the public and are sold in special sections in bookstores or some gas stations. In Poland you go to store or Budka Ruchu and there is a plastered picture of a naked woman with her ugly tits hanging out and children see that in plain view.

It's already worse. Why do they always have to throw in a naked woman in Polish movies? It might be a good movie for guys but "ogniem and mieczem" is still one of the best movies Poland has ever made.
