Yup, makes sense. And besides: Germany couldn't handle another addition to its territory anyway, as they are still struggling to "incorporate" the former GDR. Not to mention the negative reaction of Germany's "friends" in the west and the Russians. I would love to see Britain and France complain like Thatcher did in 1989, though.
Sounds like the Ukraine has to wait for a very long time before they are even considered candidates for the EU.

Poland is depending on a region 10-20 years behind the Western Europe, Ukraine is 30-50 years behind Poland and not really developing

I've never been to the Ukraine, so I can't tell.
But if Germans were ready to pay for what we've done with the place and we got Lwów and the money i'd be happy to bill them myself.

Well, no. You get the provinces back that were "rebuilt" by the Soviets. Sounds fair... :)
Some may dream about having both the old eastern and the new western provinces?

I guess what BB meant is that Polish and German history is largely interconnected. He thought that you were denying this fact; thus the example of Kopernikus.

This sounds like the old Polish communist propaganda crap to justify the annexation of the German provinces in the east. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recovered_Territories for details. Better call it a compensation (or a "gift" by Stalin) for the lost Polish territory in the east.
Yes it is true that Poland annexed some eastern parts of germany. But in historical terms these lands belonged to the poles for centuries.

I was told by both ethnic Poles and Germans that you had the choice: sign up for the Volksliste or leave your farm within an hour's notice. The farms were then given to landless ethnic Germans and (later in war) to Lithuanians. To the best of my knowledge there was no slave labour in the area I was talking about, but if you can point me to a source that proves otherwise, I would appreciate that.

I know for a fact (from eye-witness reports of farmers from the Poznan area) that many of those people lived together peacefully with their Polish neighbours. Are they still traitors in your eyes simply because they were ethnic Germans?

Sometimes I have the feeling that the Polish and Czech governments are a little bit to eager to prevent Germans and others from reclaiming property lost after WW2. Is it because they fear (but do not admit) that those claims are legitimate?

You accept and understand that there are people out there who do not "tick" the same way you do. Actually you are forced to be more open minded, because YOU are the one who is the stranger in the country. Difficult to explain, but I hope you get my drift.
