USA, Canada / How to stay in USA without getting married? [125]

You are right. Not all states have the same law. I'm talking about Wisconsin.

Is she as cute as you are?

Everybody's cuter than I am. I look like a chicken. I'm VERY ugly.

News / sending a letter to poland [33]

What's in that drawing??? Hmmm I wonder.
I would say it should get there in about 5 days. Maybe a day sooner or later, because the post offices are swamped with mail this time of year, and it usually takes about 6-9 days from US to Poland.

Just the opposite. It is a good thing to do. Because If the 20 year old marries the 60 year old who is the US citizen, and if he married her for just the "green card", then once they get divorced, he will inherit half of her assets.

That's what an imigration lawyer told me who works in such cases.

I wonder if the people from the INS who check such marriages actually are able to find out if they couple signed a pre-nuptial agreement

They do.

And LOVE is the most important thing in the world! So if that's what it takes to get citizenship, then let them. I do help people out with this, because Polish people are not criminals, they are clean, hard-working, intelligent. Too bad they have to go through such illegal measures to stay here.

I would have a problem with people from Iraq though.( Not racist here)

And too, everything in a marriage is 50-50. So when they do get a divorce after 3 years, after getting their citizenship, everything they owe is split in half, their income, assets. Unless they sign a pre-nuptial agreement.

And yes, that's true. There are many reasons why they want to marry for papers, some ethical some not.

I work at the post office, and you do hear about things being stolen in other countries. If you have something valuable, we recommend that it is sent either registered or insured with a signature, because that way you can track the stuff and if it does get lost, you will get a refund. You can now send to Europe a numbered insured parcel which you can insure for $50.00 and the receiver will have to sign it so you know it is delivered.

$15.000. Sounds good, but .....OK. I know this couple who got illegally married. He's polish, she a US citizen. They don't live together, in fact the guy has a wife with him, but "pretended" they got divorced. They had to go to the USCIS office and there they were asking them VERY private questions. And since the guy overstayed his Polish visa, the US goverment is cracking down on cases like that, now the US "wife" has to deal with it, saying that he's her "husband" and she needs him, etc.

I personally don't like what they are doing. I don't like cheaters and liers.
Bit it's none of my business.

The truth they don't tell you about the visa waiver program: You have to go back. This visa is for visiting only. If you overstay this visa, no lawyer, no marriage, nothing will help you to stay in the US. You will be deported right away if caught.

No lawyer will even touch this case.

Cartoons are great for learning. I watched a lot of them in the early 80-s. I loved Tom and Jerry

If you overstay your visa, you can apply for an extension, but that will only last for a while. And it's true, once you go back to Poland, you won't be able to come to the US for 10 years. So the best ( and probably the only) solution is to get married to a US citizen. And you only have to be married for 3 years to get citizenship, then get a divorce if you don't like each other. I heard you can pay $5.000 or more for such an activity.

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

kebab. Wrong spelling.
You know, it's that long metal rod thing with chunks of meat and vegetables poked through it and stuck in the fire. Very popular. tried one in zakopane, with sheep meat.

Love / Polish interracial dating [333]

When two people love each other it shouldn't matter what color or race they are. It's the person who is inside that really matters.

And who cares what others think. It's not their life.

Yes, potatoes and vegetables do taste better in Poland. The stuff you buy in supermarkets in the US all tastes the same. You make a zupa and you don't know what vegetable you're eating!

Life / "i don't have time" - Clarification From Native Poles Needed [44]

Polish people can be stubborn sometimes and don't want to join in the fun!
Example: I went to a violin concert here in the US, with a woman from Poland. Afterwards they served really good refreshments. Everybody was digging in. She was the only one standing holding up a post and not eating. When asked why, she said she's not used to American food.

They've been here over 4 years. Illegally of course. But they pay their taxes.
When I travel to another country, I always try the native food. Well, except for Mexico, where they sell tacos on the street and can get sick from it, or Africa where they serve bugs!
