UK, Ireland / Getting married to a Polish Citizen in the UK [371]

He can work in poland because he has a Polish wife. He has to register at Urzad Wojowodski (?) Usually companies give work permits he will probably have to open his own company (also not hard) as many polish firms hire you as "private contractors" so they can rip you off and not have to pay your health insurance, but it depends on what he wants to do. But don't worry he can work.

Law / Getting a visa to stay in Poland longer than 90 days... [14]

You can also get a temporary permit without a job if you have a fiancee and someone claims they will take care of all your expenses then you can start a private business to work after you acquire the permit, kind of a backwards way in. But without fiancee I don't know how it works. In any case expect some long delays with paperwork. My permit was delayed an extra month"The machine in Warsaw was broken" was the reason I was given.

Feedback / Rule 6 & Michal [11]

I don't like his posts and he rubs almost everyone the wrong way and I wish he could be banned. But in all fairness he should be able to stay as this is a forum for sharing all points of view no matter how angry and unthoughtful they are. We all have to admit he keeps things interesting.

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

De Gaulle set up the Free French in London during the war so it shows how little you know.

Read Norman Davies Mick theres a photo of DeGaulle in Poland during the Bolshevik War,
The book is "White Eagle Red Star"

After the Armistice de Gaulle was assigned to a Polish division being formed in France where he served under Maxime Weygand. He fought against the Red Army during the Civil War and won Poland's highest military decoration, Virtuti Militari.

Maybe you should study your history before you act like an arrogant yutz

spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/2WWdegaulle.htm

Boleshevik War not World War Two ! didn't read carefully enough looking for a way to make TheKruk look stupid and look what happened.

Life / How do Polish view others [116]

Not to mention the Chopin connection as well and mentioning the Bolshevik war a young officer named Charles deGaulle was one of those advisors who were in Polandduring that war.

And I believe he was a fairly important French figure in history.
No Poland France connection indeed!

you could say that about almost every nation. Wonder why anybody could have such a low opinion of a nation and in particular a misogynistic one about the female of a nation and then marry one? I would think the wife of such a person were they to be writing negative things about such a person for example ones wife or girlfriend that this persons wife or girlfriend was seeking some sort of gratification elsewhere or if she wasn't, one couldn't blame her if she did.

USA, Canada / Advice for Polish girlfriend getting tourist visa to visit America? [45]

Should someone from my family write her an invitation?

definately they may not even look at them but they might.
I wrote a letter which my wife(girlfriend at the time) showed to the Consul about how much i loved her how long we knew each other etc. and it worked. I may be way off line or on another planet but the love seemed to insure her turist Visa.

By the way we got married in the U.S. when she just had a tourist Visa. But we live in Poland. It was easier than getting married in Poland.

USA, Canada / Advice for Polish girlfriend getting tourist visa to visit America? [45]

You never know Trinner everyone offers good advice But Krysia's is very realistic, and if she's pretty and can speak english that helps. The consul told me, that my girlfriend had little chance of getting a tourist visa and she got one. I waited in the Embassy while she was at the interview. She was 6 months pregnant at the time too!

Work / New English Teacher, CELTA course [9]

Come on Johan most of the time we don't have a lot of time to type these things whats the point in criticising? or pointing out mistakes? Sin8 is trying to help are you? OK we bow to your superior intellect ! feel better.

Staying on the same topic what is your view of Berlitz

They pay all right but have a strict method that takes a 2 week or so training course.
I know one guy here who went there and was hired but didn't like it. Theres is no freedom to deviate from the method. The good point about Methods though is once you learn them the prep. time for classes is very short. I often must prepare 30min to an hour before each class.

the charm is the people and that it is easy to get anywhere from here krakow is only 40 min. by car or 1 hour 30 min by train. I know Native speakers from UK are in very hihg regard sadly higher than Americans, but probably righfully so as far as the language is concerned. I think it would be easier to find work here but a little harder to meet people as there is no center as inkrakow or wroclaw. The best thingis the beautiful Polish women (I married one) the food and the greenery surrounding the city. Seriously though try the other cities if beauty and nightlife are your goal try here for an easy time finding work and some decent pay with lower cost of living than more famous cities.

anything else just ask. I could help you find schools here if your interested.

Work / New English Teacher, CELTA course [9]

First are you from the UK or USA or Australia where you from old boy?
I work in Katowice lotsa work here because its not the prettiest city in Poland wouldn't make the top 10 or 20 even. But business is booming here. You can expect to make (if your Good) 3000 to 5000 monthly depending on your hours per week I do about 30 plus 4 private so almost 40 a week. There are more native speakers in Krak and Wroclaw the pay may be higher but so is rent. Here the going rate is about 40 zloty per hour at schools. You can ask between 35 and 50 zloty per hour for private lessons.

Check out Empik school they are m,aking a big push to be the largest in Polska (i work there) Our school has 1000 students and is growing. Callan schools don't need much qualifications but there is a rigid method and Top English sux in Krakow the boss is cool but his boss is a two faced so and so. and my big advice get it in writing some will promise the moon and give you el-crappo. But it does take a little time to get a good reputation then you write your own rules good luck.

News / Revenge or Justice? Vetting Laws in Poland [18]

The regime change in 1989 was essentially a trade-off: we forget about the past and you go quietly ... with your ill-gotten gains.

If that truly is the case then ok let the former collaborators rest in peace.
and very true poland could better use the money for more necessary programs, and paying less tax is one of them.

i think if someone is guilty of wrongdoing and harm to their people they should be held accountable. But I do also fear a witchhunt. Sticky sticky. But traitors should be punished no matter how long after the fact.

I believe Johan has a good point but as I said oohh it is a sticky one to straighten out.

History / Video of polish soldier history [39]

I think poland should have a national day of thanks to britain once a year

Excellent idea the banner should read as follows
"Thanks Allied Nations for delivering us from the Nazi's to the warm gentle hands of Stalin"

if the media teaches toleration then thats a good thing. I agree with your premise and I understand people are different and have a right to their opinions. We just differ on the gay issue. I mean yeah i think its weird I mean men are smelly and gross compared to women. But I have no problem with a persons choice of sexual orientation.

Or whther its a choice or born that way we did that dance earlier didn't we.
I think you and I have an understanding more or less and my battle on this subject is done. Plus I am too damn tired today. Cheers mate

something tells me that its more likely to be bigotted homophobic adults that will have the "more profane or demoralising effect on polish kids"..

so true Bubbawoo

And most of all, polish youth didn't emigrate from the country because of current government but because current economical situation.

Yes but what is the current gov. doing about the economic situation: Looking for old communists and outing supposed gay furry creatures and all the polish youth I speak with do not practice intolerant views they are quite open-minded and against such a staunch religious conservative Gov. And the attitude that the world can kiss your dupa is isolationist and I don't think it is healthy for Poland to be isolated further in fact its an american attitude: "the world can kiss my ass"

And if you think the kaczynski's are helping Poland- EU relations you are sadly mistaken.
And there are gay characters on polish television watch Magda M

Good God shut up.

well the whole world is laughing and your religiousright President and views have lost what little credibility Poland had. Forcing Polish youth to flee for better lives. I will try to be peaceful but its Damn hard.
a side note How'd the Wings do this year?

Sorry Cas your american so no Idea what radio maria is, voted for Bush though you did didn't you? No point in arguing with the brain dead.
