News / Adult movie producers looking for 'actresses' in Poland or just a weirdo? [120]

In the real world there are thousands of naive girls being trafficed for sex. They answer innocent job adverts, get 'recruited' or are conned into believing they can make money or a better life for themselves.

Thats very true, but I cant see the connection to this thread, since you didnt mention anything about Polish girls being lured to America.. only about some random stranger wanting to shag your gf and pay her for it. Im not saying its a good thing.. although maybe he might be better than you. What I cant understand is what point you are trying to make with this incoherent thread.. and if that really did happen to your gf, why would you want to tell everyone on a forum about it?

well sounds like your girlfriend is not as naive as you make her out to be then!

If someone agrees to have sex for money, you can be pretty sure they wont be naive and they are going to check exactly what it involves.. and if they dont agree, then they might feel offended but can say no.

I personally think you created this thread cos you were bored and dont actually have anyone to have sex with so you feel the need to talk about it.

UK, Ireland / Integrating Polish people into the British society [150]

Those who made points about British people not being too friendly to strangers are right, generally I dont think we are a naturally warm race at embracing people outside of our cultural norm and all the hatred stirred up by the media doesnt help the situation. However, there are 2 sides to this, why should we just be saying what can Britain do to help this situtation? It is also down to changing the attitudes of many of the Poles who come here who actually are quite happy living in their ex-pat communities and enjoy slagging off British people and their culture.. sorry to say this, but there are plenty of Polish people who dont want to integrate, or at least only a work or relationship level, they may accept invites from British people, but wait and see if such invites are reciprocated when it comes to introducing their new British friends into their Polish social circle. Of course I am generalising, but this is often the case. In many cases its down to language difficulties, but I also think its pretty difficult to break down the cultural barriers. So, yes the UK and British people could do more, but this isnt a one-way street and would it be worth the effort?

I dont think that its only in Poland that this happens! I am actually more disturbed that the OP thinks it neccessary to stick up for all those poor 'naive' girls. Please give the female sex some credit for being able to say no to an unwanted sexual proposition..after all we have been doing it for most of our adult lives! If someone offers to have sex with you for money, then how exactly can you not understand the implications of what that involves? It therefore boils down to 2 choices.. you tell him to *** off or you say "how much?"

UK, Ireland / How long before a newly arrived Pole can buy something on credit ? [24]

but you don't have car tax in Poland. You guys only display the registration sticker here. Plus why would you pay UK car tax on a Polish registered vehicle? Not sure I have understood what you mean...?

that is what I meant, that because you have no tax disc displayed, people will assume you have no tax and report you, then you have to decide whether to register the car in the UK and therefore have to buy UK road tax. In our case we decided it was too costly so took the car back to Poland and bought a new one over here.

I'm not sure if many do that to be honest as the onus is on the driver to tell the DVLA that the car has been here longer than six months. No records of the cars that come in and out of the country are kept, so it's very hard to proove how long a car has been here.

I dont know about that, my boyfriend got a letter and calls and a notice posted on his windscreen a few weeks before the 6 months was up, so somehow they knew. Cos if its taxed in Poland you dont have a tax disc on the window, so its obvious. Then if you try and tax it here, they register it.

You can get a decent car for under a grand in the UK

I wouldnt agree with that, but depends on what you call decent and if you want to drive to and from Poland in it, it might not be too reliable unless you are lucky.

You must also know that insurance companies here are very likely to rob you blind if you don't have a British driving licence (no matter how long have you had your national licence) and/or no-claim account.

Its true. My partner has a clean licence and 20 years no claims in Poland, but the no claims dont seem to count in the UK. They say you can get evidence from your insurer in Poland, but its overly complicated and doesnt really work. So when he bought a car in the UK the insurance quotes were really high.. the cheapest we found was Direct Line. After 1-2 years no claims in the UK it is considerably cheaper. Also if you bring a Polish car over here it is ridicously expensive to register it in the UK (which you need to do after 6 months), so not worth it unless the car is a pretty nice one.

I would advise the guy to save up the cash and buy a cheap car to start with. He wont get credit for a good while anyway especially in the current credit crunch climate. In terms of renting, many companies will ask for a credit card in the drivers name, so this could be a stumbling block.

News / Poles are coming home [35]

nope I meant the amount of British criminals who go to live there. Im not saying that the Spanish are forced to sell their land, but there is undoubtedly a divide between most Brits and Spaniards in many parts. It makes me sick that many Brits cant be bothered to learn the lingo, Ive even seen signs on bars, saying no Spanish allowed, presumably so as to stop them being attacked by drunken lager louts. And before you condemn me, I'm British myself and I've seen it first hand, not just from a package holiday. ANyway, this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic.

Some papers are reporting a shortage of labour for the Olympic Stadium due to Polish people returning home, but I think for all those who are returning, many are leaving again after only a few months, if not to return to the UK, then to other countries.

UK, Ireland / Polish Music Festival in London (and I'm a bit miffed) [22]

not sure of the process. My boyfriend has registered and is sorting it out. I am thinking it will be interesting since it is all day event and there are no pass outs and no smoking and given the price of drinks at the venue to see how many smuggled bottles of vodka and how many folk are thrown out for smoking. I also include myself in that and Im not even Polish. :)

Life / Can you keep a right hand drive car in Poland? [57]

Not sure about bikes, but if its the same deal as a car then the insurance she has got in Poland should cover her to come to the UK on it, although not sure if you will be covered, guess it depends on her insurance. If not, then you suppose you will have to register to ride it in Poland. Once here, it should be able to stay here in the UKor 6 months before you have to register it here.

Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

you dont have to be camp to be in touch with your feminine side.. doesnt mean you are a bloody tranny! geez. The very fact that men dont comment on one anothers attractiveness much is the reason that most of the non Polish guys on here are slagging off the looks of the Polish male whilst bigging up the female sex. They cannot appreciate another mans looks. Its not rocket science.

Love / moving to poland to be together is this the right decision? [67]

I have never met my in-laws and it doesnt affect my relationship, so i dont think that you reallly need to do so to have a serious relationship with him. You do however, need to know the truth about the reason why and I dont feel he is being honest with you.

UK, Ireland / Polish Music Festival in London (and I'm a bit miffed) [22]

I think I'm gonna go to this, but yes I agree with you that for an event in London it should be advertised in English too, otherwise it looks like a deliberate ploy to keep English people away, although I cant imagine that there are many who dont have some kind of interest in Poland that would be interested anyway. I can find out about how to get tickets for you if you want?

are you totally sure that the ex is really 100% ex? Are they actually divorced or just separated? Dont underestimate the parents influence on engineering them to get back together. It does sound like he loves you, but is keeping his options open as he is obviously too scared to tell his parents about you and him for whatever reason that might be.

UK, Ireland / Benefits for separated Polish wife and 2 kids in the UK [90]

i am not racist, but I am a realist. As much as I hate spongers like this, we cannot blame this Polish woman for wanting to abuse our system as unfortunately we Brits live in a society where the government does give priority to people like her, over and above their own citizens. Until this changes, all manner of people will continue to use and abuse it, while us taxpayers foot the bill and get sod all it terms of benefits or housing when we do need it. If only all countries were as open to such abuse Im sure many of us would have gone abroad and done the same.

hey justynia thanks for sticking up for us english girls. I have to say that i totally agree with you, not because I am English, but thats just the way it is, especially in terms of dress sense. However, it is nice to hear it said from someone who is actually Polish themselves. You are of course the exception.
