I think there is sth akin, albeit on a much smaller scale, to the Holocaust. WTF? I hear. The Jews feel that they will be eternally entitled to different things because of what happened to them. Lir has a good point. Still, the Poles go for money most of the time and that's rather lame. They love their food, they love the nature here, they love their families and also their national events. They give up everything for money. Living in the UK isn't that cheap either.

Territory changes hands and is often contested. Poles are still very much welcome to cities like Lwów, Wilno and Kowno (Lvov, Vilnius and Kaunas). Commonwealth? Just another label.

The big future issue will be Ukraine's potential future accession to the EU and, perhaps, NATO. If Poland is too instrumental in that process, Russia will have sth to say about it.
