News / What you think about the Polish President, Kaczynski? [53]

RJ just stop now....clearly filios is the smartest greek/pole to ever walk the earth and to disagree with him is pure folly. He has serious work to do preparing to kill Albanians...don't distract him.

Work / Six-figure USD income doing business in Poland... Possible? [44]

Oh Harry...Stop it....really. I am going to vomit from laughing so hard. No Stop. Oh please. Make it stop. End the torture of this humor that I can't stop laughing at. Cramping now.

And bada boom...didn't take as long as I imagined to pull that off. You are too easy :)

Work / 19% tax for self employed persons [18]

Just do what many , many Poles do and work for cash and don't pay taxes. It is so prevalent here it is just accepted as normal.

Travel / Leaving and entering Poland with a temporary residency permit. [16]

Yeah at this point were it not for the fact I love my wife to be more than anything I would not be in this place.

As soon as she wraps some things up here we are gone! Greg and his patriots can have this place. No loss to me.

zion count your blessings...I only got mine for one year so I have to pay 400zl for half as much time as you and have to reapply again soon. The anti-corruption division needs to get inside the Polish immigration system.

I am sure it is a common way to get more money into the bureaucracy.

Life / SIM cards in Poland [21]

Unless you are in multiple countries each week and have a company that pays for the phone service...the best way is to just buy local cards. No international plan is cost effective for casual use.

Life / SIM cards in Poland [21]

Eurola don't bother...the roaming fees would be murder(and the T-Mobile USA folks will tell you the wrong things trust me) and for about 10usd you can buy a local card with time on it.

Go to a kiosk when you arrive, buy any of the local cards as they are all the same really, and save your hard earned money.

Life / Why is Poland so slow; it takes a lot of time to arrange anything here [53]

AHAHA...I had the avocado problem just last week. I buy them regularly at the same shop and was a bit confused when she asked me if it was a "gruszka" (pear).

Hmmm...well I guess it is kind of shaped like a pear. MAYBE A F@$!ING PETRIFIED, BUMPY, DARK GREEN GUACAMOLE PEAR you tool! (I didn't say that but thought it with my most furious thought voice since I am such a bad a$$)

But...as we often do when reflecting I thought hmmmm..."pears ARE cheaper so I should just start saying it is a pear"

Sometimes you have to take the "charm" (I think it is Latin for "moronicstupidness") of Poland and make it work for you.

Love / Polish boyfriends [77]

MG mostly they are all talk. While sure a big guy would worry you a bit more he likely will just posture and then go away when it comes down to it. The time or two a Pole has tried to get all bully with me just simply stepping up to him and saying "ok then let's go" was enough to get them to back off. If he shows up drunk stirring things up call the Police. He has yet to learn she is not his anymore. Sounds pretty immature.

Train desks and any government office requires a deck chair for any comfort. I for one dont like standing in line for 6 hours.

And they tend to speak English at the domestic ticket desks but NOT the international ticket desks or international info desk so bear that in mind.

Life / Cigarette Smoking in Poland [146]

So does your love for freedom extend to those who wish to breath the air without choking? or is it only to your desire to smoke?

And Pati...just because smoking and drinking go together for you doesn't mean they do for all. I know loads of people who say they love to drink without smelling the cig stink.

Haha...ok...I have lived here for years and that is my experience...and no Albert's and such are not much better. If the bar code doesn't work they get paralyzed...I guess typing in the number is something the customer is required to suggest. And god forbid you don't have the exact change.

Smiles are not allowed in Poland...nor is efficiency. Must be in the constitution.

And yeah it is no big deal to accept a crappy shop girl's service once in a while...but some things in life can't just be blown off as the 'charm' of a place. That is an excuse Poles use often.
