It's not so close. About 150 km I think. If you will have a car then that not a problem... If public transport then you will have to check things because I doubt that there's a direct connection.

The law is about 12 days in a year , most of which aren't relgious holidays and It doesn't say that they must be closed - If only the owners work then they may be opened. The law was passed under pressure of trade unions - there are similar laws in many European countries, so stop spreading your anti-Catholic phobia.
