In North America fans just get to their cars and the only problem they create is the traffic congestions.

lol amen to that..I get scared driving home from one, concerts etc because I am
designated driver to get all of us home safely, but Still am scared of the other
drivers who have tyed one on.. and highway driving in 4 lanes with alot of intoxicated
folks is nerve racking..scarey as hell, not to mention alot of people swerving and
cussing at each other.

Plenty of sad Poles reporting general intolerance to other immigrants to N America..........

ive Not witnessed anything like what has happened above with the pregnant girl
not to say things cant happen, in any " big Move" its probablly best to move in
more suburban areas, even apts..

Where I live, crime is low, the biggest thing to happen ( neighborhood gawk show)
is maybe someone had domestic fight wife and hubby get drunk and she throws
something at him in turn he ends up with stiches or taken away by police, or

someone broke a window and stole cds out of a car. or got into the garage, but neighbors seen the perpetrator and call police and the guy was caught.

yes ocasionally, someone is found they have been stabbed, or killed, usually this is
big news, front page for us, because this is not typical of our area..and usually its
drugs involved..

Canada I couldnt tell you about.my friend who lives in London, she always told me
good things about Canada, made me even want to move there :)

I know someone who recently from Poland ( her name is Gosia) I think I will ask
her if she had any problems in the beginning with people calling her names. I really
doubt it, because now a days people accept more, I think right now the focus
is on the immigrants from mexico, south America. They bring with them heavy drugs
into America, I think if a man or woman wants to come, to find a job, improve then
yes, but smuggling drugs etc, stay in your own F-up country.

and no, there is no double standards here again, who would want to allow someone
I dont care what color you are into my country and kill my children and other children
with drugs. you dont belong in any country if you sell drugs to children and are
a sicko like that..

Life / Poland: The Things That Make Foreigners Lift a Brow [123]

Steve ends his posting with a warning:' And hey, avoid those dark parks and alleys.' And what parts of British or American cities would Steve advise to avoid? None at all? :)

well, in any city, avoiding dark parks and alleys is advised. I dont care what country
you are in. so you can take this post as a warning. for those visiting because even
though Poland has lesser crime, it still has crime non the less.

I want to take a Poll, how many think that the UK and the United states are the
same?? and Poland and the united states?? what seperates them??

( this is not for prejudiced but for uniqueness which each country holds)

I will go first, only because this I heard from friend at work who went to the UK

that the UK doesnt have convienences like we do, we have 24 hour grocery stores
and pharmancys and gas stations , resturants etc.

I know Krysia can add to this post with the poland and US diference. what are some
of the differences with the uk and poland as well.

no yeahs or neahs?

man you people are difficult!! lol...

Life / Poland: The Things That Make Foreigners Lift a Brow [123]

Patrycja19 inquires:'Things are done differently then in the west. what /why does that make his statement prejudiced?'

Do you mean that in Poland things are done differently than in 'the West'? If so, what things are done so differently and what do you mean by 'the West'?

you never answered my question, but only avoided it. I explained Wigila, does
everyone have wigila? does the british celebrate this? no. they have their own

in the united states they do, but only the Polish, the whole united states doesnt
participate, because there is so many different cultures.

I am pretty sure our laws arent the same. the cars are different. and they drive
on a different side of the road in the UK. gun laws? hmm that was discussed
on another thread. schools, money is even different.

if it was the same, i am sure that people wouldnt go to visit because they can find
paradise in their own backyards..

I did explain that Poland has " A Culture" its own, we as Americans do not have
a specific Culture. as Krysia stated, things that are not done in Poland are very
much a reality in the United states.

So you, Patrycja, agree with Steve's main message that Poland is different from 'the West' and is not part of 'the West'?
:)

Yes. is the Uk ( west) same as the united states? NO. there is a great deal that is
different. our govt works differently, our whole way of life.

Things that are the same, love, taking a shower, eating, going shopping etc.

I am talking things that are part of a culture. which makes it different. steve wasnt
being biased, he was pointing out things which make those a Nation.

even here in America, the American indians dont do things the same as we do
they have a culture, traditions which seperate them from the obvious. and yes
they do things differently, we also have Amish people, who live by standards they
set in place which have been the same for well over 100 years, I think much longer
and they dont use electricity, they use horse and buggy. no one says anything
and they are different, but its not a bad thing is what steve has pointed out.

ok i think that summed it up.

why do you want to call me your polish sister? I didnt think you liked me as a sister
:)

And why do you Polish Americans and Canadians have to endure 'Polish jokes'? Why don't you do anything about it at last? Why don't you catch the rat deal with him properly?

it dont happen now, during my childhood and teenage years it did.

now I would clobber them!

I have clobbered some.. those who said it because they were just playing around
I would point out their nationality in a joke.

I was stating that because of the fact that people say it, no matter what generation
you are, I am 2nd generation and my dad being first.
And those who came here to America, we had Polish jokes here, then now as
2nd generations who want to learn about poland, call us Polish wannabes..

So between two lands acceptance was a battle.and still is.

when they left, Poland would have them back in a heartbeat, and America with
reluctance, now, if we left America would have us back in a heartbeat. and Poland
reluctant to accept. only those with open heart, mind and Arms.

no Polish jokes here.

maybe my friends are afraid they will get punched or get a baseball bat to the head.

That is good Witek that you didnt have to hear those jokes, but there was one
who came on in anther thread asking for advice and this was recently. he was
canadian. I am sure there is more.

Where's your honour, where're your guts?

honor comes with having something to be honored about. how can one be honored
or honorable when they are not accepted in either place?

but dont worry, my attitude here should tell you that I stood up and always have
even though I didnt understand why at the time people would say that.

By the way, Patrycja, you seem to be biased at times too, which bias, I suppose, you have acquired automatically and unconsciously from living in a Polonophobic milieu and being exposed to the hate propaganda carried out by newsmedia psychopaths.

where did you get your facts Puzzler??

how can you take on a biased view of me not fully knowing the person, only
the posts? and which posts show you this?

Biased is to easily judge, you seem to be determined to judge those of us you
dont know, or cant fully understand, possibly it is yourself you are referring to?

ever since you joined, you have had some harsh biased views of everyone, not
I disagree or agree. I think everyone minus Shawn_H who stroked your ego
is prejudiced in your eyes. how about spare me the questions and show me
some proof.

yes, today I will be instutional biased. I want proof.. is it ok to pick which day I can
be biased?

USA, Canada / What were some of the reasons for your family to immigrate to America? [14]

diversity lends strength and character to a country

Amen is right :)

Shopgirl, you are alright!!

Thanks :)

Bring this back up to the top, cause I know there is others whos parents, grandparents immigrated, and I will add, also why did they immigrate to other

countries? was it during the war? prewar? better life? change of scenery?
avoid the drafts? russian rulers? to meet family?

whatever the reasons please share. its interesting to hear stories and also a learning
experience for everyone.

USA, Canada / What were some of the reasons for your family to immigrate to America? [14]

yes, mine too, what I had hard time understanding was why they didnt want to
share history of poland till I learned more.

maybe there was things they didnt want to share, maybe things were so tough
they just wanted to forget. I cant talk to my grandparents, they all long passed
so I am only going on what I heard others say about their grandparents who came
from same general area.

That is why it is hard to hear someone say, you are not Polish, no, not by citizenship
only by blood. whats the difference if my grandparents came yesterday, 20 years ago
or 75 years ago? my blood is still All Polish, my father married my mother who was
All Polish. so each set was all polish. Not even everyone is Poland is 100% but only
by citizenship. And then I have seen some really mean posts who say come here
and we will take your American money, we think you Americans are stupid. this was
on a forum last night, but it was posted back in 2003. it was because those of us who
want to re-connect with our heritage and culture, and it makes me angry that
someone would say that, because it isnt me who has identity crisis, its those who
cant accept who have the identity crisis. they cannot identify with those who have
left and found a different life. some for the better and some not.

an assumption that a WHOLE group of people lack intelligence proves a lack of intelligence by the person who makes the assumption.

I think this ones even better.. :)

this could also go for those who sterotype other nations as well , including
Americans who are targets and assumed about all the time.

And certainly less than the Americans, including 'Canadians,' with their ultraracist 'Polish jokes,' which should be actually called American (pseudo)jokes. Steve asserts: 'Compared to other nations, jokes are a serious business to the vast majority of Poles.'

wik.ed.uiuc.edu/index.php/Polish_American_are_unintelligent_and _uneducated

I took the time to find you some proof. it was we American Poles who had to endure
the " Polish Joke" if your done on your high horse, maybe you will stop and listen
to your American Polish Brothers and Sisters, as you should with the Canadian
Polish Brothers and sisters who also have had to endure same. that was in a post
on another thread. ( didnt remember the thread name). :)

what a prejudiced posting on Stevie the 'Admin's' part.

Things are done differently then in the west. what /why does that make his statement
prejudiced?

You have a culture. if these are some things he has observed, that is his proof.

I can tell you what I observed, that not all Polish people have same traditions.
from what our cousins here told me, what I seen in here, and my friends whom I write
and cousins from poland, I have heard four different ways to celebrate Wigilia.

I know I spelled that wrong. but its true, so which way is the correct way?
and if your American who has french and say english and irish background, then
whatever someone does who is Polish would seem very different . they dont celebrate Wigilia!! their culture is different, would you say its the same as any other nation?

if steve were to say, well white Polish women all have dark hair and blue eyes and are
extremely stubborn and throw bad fits. well, then he would be sweepingly saying
in a prejudiced way. and sterotyping too.

But he didnt...least from what I read.. so leave our steve alone :)

BTW. I like to shake hands and to talk <~not that anyone would notice lol..

Just so everyone knows , the above link about the American Poles is true.

my father didnt get a great education because all the kids had to help make
money at young ages, and they were very hard workers.. a great majority
of the older generation dropped out of school at ( i think ) the age of 15. but
I know the legal ages is 16 now a days, it could have been even 14 years of age.

those who were educated, some didnt get to use their skills here because it wasnt
recognized..from poland ( my grandfather)

my father had to help my grandmother because his father died early , so it was up
to the last boy in the house to take care of her, which he did, he came home from
the navy and was working as laborer, and took care of her and the house. till she died

all the rest were off and married. but my mother also said when i asked her why
she dropped out, she first told me cause she hated math, but then told me because
times were hard, and they needed help with bills and keeping the house up, so my
mother even did it.

but once we all were in school, there was more pushing with education.

Life / Are Polish people inherently jealous or their neighbours? [10]

when party supporters, officials and other commie bozo's got more than their fair advantage?

all top officials get more then their fair advantage... its not just a polish thing..

shady is the word that comes to mind. schools closing, businesses. then they call
out to private sectors to help, well get off the jet plane to aruba and come back
and play some good card games and the people wont be suffering..

stop buying your auntie jane a new car with govt money and start helping get
things back in shape..

I am not jealous of Poland , I would hope they see past the war and see that the
American people suffer as well. we have a better system in some aspects, but our
Govt does the same as theirs and I am sure the uk could use a makeover too.

our president just like your president has his own interests in mind. if it was for
the people, things would be changing, you have to have a dam good job to have
health insurance, otherwise pay out of pocket some unreasonable fees for a office
call to tell you your sick ( no **** Sherlock).

just like the missile base. blaming the people is way out of context, does everyone
agree with Kaczynski? NO> he doesn't appeal to every polish man or woman nor
does Blair!!

I am not jealous of your countries, I wish we were not so far away from each other
it would be a welcome change to be able to come visit and get away from the normal.

News / March of Tolerance in Krakow [478]

Well, miranda, so you agree with 'Dec' that Grzegorz's negative attitude towards faggies is the expression of his suppressed homosexuality?

If so, how would you prove it's the case?

Prove its not!

No offense G , but Puzzler, do you live with G? do you go out with him nightly?

anything about the beatings of native europeans or crimes against them.

we dont hear every mans story , the media tells what they want to tell. show the
public what they think we should see. unless we witness it, some things will never
be told on national television. so no, we dont know about all the beating of native
europeans, just as you dont know about every beating that occurs in the states
or in canada.. get a grip already!

“Hey, Dad, why this lady is on the leash?” “This is her way of life”,

Now yes, this is where I also draw the line. because there are people who dont need
to show this in public.

to me, whether its man or woman, or woman with woman, etc these are bedroom
fantasies, this should not be something you show to the public.

coming out of the closet doesnt mean you have to share everything you do in the
closet!! we certainly dont share our bedroom experiences as man and woman in
public by wearing leashes to work daily just to prove something..

if you do, then seriously, please involve some help. or contact jerry springer!!

so you are saying that my mothers comments ( joking around) was not common

Because she wasnt all about finding someone rich , she fell in love with my father
who was working as laborer, they met thru mutual friends.

usually most mothers want their daughters to find someone rich and can give them
everything , but money doesnt buy happiness and love. you can have all the money
in the world, but without that someone special, all that doesnt mean anything.

thats what I mean about being content. more isnt always glorious.

witek,

my mom was very caring, she was kidding around, shes no longer alive. so I
suggest you shut up!

she happened to be very caring and loving mother, that would only want the best
for their children, so Back off, everything is sarcasim and a joke to you.

Mom- says find someone who knows how to paint, and who makes enough to
keep food on the table.

Let me also say, she wasnt a gold digger, my mother was happy no matter what
life gave her. she didnt need to be happy with money, people struggled back then
and life wasnt easy, but they worked thru it together.

she was content and thats all that matters. she died of cancer in 2002

News / A friend murdered in Poland; what the Polish police can do? [69]

I thought Poland was safe. Now I am nervous about my trip to Poland planned for next month.

He was probably unfortunatly in the wrong place at the wrong time.

or maybe there is more to the story, dont get scared away from things like this
because it can happen in the town you live in now.

The one thing everyone should be is not so flashy, which I have seen people flaunt
here in America, its stupid, it only invites trouble, and the way I see it, as long as
you keep your business to yourself , then you will be fine.

and ciss, so sorry to hear about what happened to your friend, in any case, I do hope
they find out who did it and the family gets some closure. my prayers to the family

News / Poland's overall view on the US? [38]

The media doesn't tell us everything back home. Now that I see that I am interested in what people think here.

This is exactly what I thought.

We know more goes on, we cant act on what we dont see. but I can guarentee
if the half of America seen things ( the truth) it would be much different.

I know things are hidden from us. its fact to not cause a national chaos. but
I stay neutral on my own, just like with things about poland and other countries
making them look bad. why do you think I dont say bad things about other countries
because half of the things are emphasized more, like with Russia, those in Russia
will only see the bad about U.S. but if its your own country, the bad gets shoved
under the rug..

so stay neutral folks!! were not all that bad. we like you , just be patient with
everything, Hopefully something will change here soon for the better and we
will be back as we were.

good that its old news.

but its true that they were made to do this. which still there needs to be some type
of laws put in place. whos to say another company wont come along and get wind
of this and try it again? is there policys?

we have some companies too which need attention, which are getting resolved,
but we have laws set forth. and so getting away with certain unfair practice here
attracts media attention.

I agree.

unfortunately, some think just because of our president, we are like him, generalizing, and some of us arent, he represents us, but its not like we all want whats

going on to happen. people protest , congress protests. hes veto happy.

then soon as we say something, well your American what do you know???

but not all knock us, theres quite a few whom are very understanding and
never have said a bad thing. which, makes you realize that there are still
a great deal of good people who inhabit this earth. every country has its faults.

News / I need Kaczynski's Email Address! [84]

Guys Guys everyone needs to take a chill pill here',
Patty wants to do something good here and she should be given praise. the world would be a better place if everyone stood up for their rights and tried to help others.
Yes maybe these E-mails wont be read but then again if everyone did the same someone would have to listen.
I say fair play patty keep up the good work. WE CANT SAVE THE WORLD BUT EVERY LITTLE HELPS

Thanks:)

Absolutely, if it's happening. What's wrong with wanting to speak up?

agree.
and I will be more careful to email someone privately.

Maybe you've just made up the entire story, Patti?

what is your problem? u seem really violent , all I said was I dont feel like
re-posting. most people read the whole thread, if they dont they apologize
and say my mistake.

Giles Posted it ( the link) and so did Fisz, I am no expert on poland, I am learning
just like a good majority. least they had the decency to re-post it, and be casual
and nice about it. not flip out.

as for the truth, it would be nice to know it. according to the news, the headband
incident was true in 2004. the other incident was from another forum, and those
people who live in Uk and poland and various parts of europe also had said there
was certain companies who do this.

its not something you would see in the united states ( if there was, it would be
major media), never said all companies run great, wasnt putting poland down
last thing I would do, not in my blood to do that.
