And I'm relating to the IRA terrorists who were killing innocent people as recently as the late 90s

When you were still in white socks.

Now drop it...

When I'm ready to.

Your 'No Surrender' slogan relates to the Siege of Derry in 1689.

I'm 22 years old and I have a deep hatred of terrorists.

Then why don't you concentrate on the terrorists of today rather than making reference to the actions of 1689.

News / Eurovision Song Contest: Isis Gee to represent Poland [156]

Why didn't the Super Hero song win? That girl can sing!

To be honest I never watched any of the qualifying rounds. Maybe the fact that she had already represented Estonia, and never made the final, counted against her.

I'm just guessing.

St. George is England's Patron Saint.

Not quite. He is also the Patron Saint of at least a dozen other countries too.

and decided you had an over abundance of donuts stashed away in your baggage;)

One bag was actually filled with food, which seemed to amuse the German Zoll guy.

"countries" are irrelevant here. EU has no border checks.

I had to show my ID and open up my bags on the train to Berlin last weekend.
But they did seem to be looking for someone and something particular.

UK, Ireland / Polish worker's excuse and a vacuum cleaner (UK) [79]

how do I put this.... er.... with his knob in a milk bottle.

You must have wide-necked milk bottles in the UK. I'm serious. They can't be more than an inch/2.5cm across at the top.

Genealogy / Help regarding finding Polish Birth Records [18]

I am interested to know how to find out if an ex girlfriend of my had a child in paticular month. I have her name and town. Is there anyway of finding this information out on the internet?

You might find an [archive] announcement in a local paper. Don't bank on it though.

And my usual answer: check Nasza klasa. She might have mentioned it there.

You will have problems with this.

Travel / Getting from Wroclaw Airport into Town [23]

Wroclaw I hope the town is not full of people like you there.

I was joking.

Your kids won't have any problems here. Even if they are naughty.

Everyone understands that kids will be kids.

My husband and I are going tp Weoclaw next month with our 6 children. Very worried that they may not behave themselves. Will the Poles tolerate them, if they are a bit unruly ?

In cases of unruly children, especially visitors, we like to grab them by the ankles and dip them in the river for a few minutes. It usually cures the problem.

Life / Angina, Polish resources needed [27]

Okay, so being serious - in an environment where language can shift from one to another mid-conversation or mid-sentence, these yeah/nie and no/no things do become important. Some people can use it as an opportunity to evade answering a question

I think this might be true, but usually we find ourselves speaking to friends. So problems shouldn't really occur.
In my example it was me who made the mistake not the other person.

Love / why is the older women such a problem for polish guys [37]

it would appear from the post on here that men seem to judge women on "acceptable" norm sterotypes.

I made a comment on your original post, based on experience not stereotypes.

..my point is you fall in love with a person not a set of expectations-well a real man or woman for that matter ,does

I'm sure you are right, but your boyfriend seems to have a problem with it. My replies have nothing to do with stereotypes, you told us how he reacted. So my thoughts are based on the given facts.

I know that you love this guy and that you are looking for a chance to be together. I just don't think it's going to happen for you. And no, I don't enjoy passing on this type of information.

I also feel that you are at a low point at the moment. Please, speak to your friends, people who know you. They are the people who can guide you and help you resolve this situation one way or the other.
