Travel / Krakow/Zakopane vs Gdansk - where to spend my time? [27]

I have 4 days to spend in Poland in February (yes, I know it will be very COLD). Want to go to either Krakow and Zakopane or to Gdansk. Can anyone tell me which would be best in terms of cost, availability of accommodation and any other matters?

Love / Is it typical for Polish guys to fall in love quickly? [86]

I think Polish guys are definitely more romantic than their British counterparts (cant speak with any knowledge of Yanks). My Polish man tells me he loves me at least 10 times a day, in person, or by phone or text if we are not together. No other guy Ive been out with has ever done that... as far as my memory serves me, it was normally only after one pint too many down the pub...and they never held doors open and bought me flowers every week.. Blimey, Im starting to feel Ive led a deprived life before.

Love / Help me! I fell in love with a Polish man! [137]

Everything would be alright, if he didn't left his wife...
Not picking on you or your partner, but I really HATE that kind of behaviour...
Does he have kids in Poland?

No, they have no kids... and believe me I didnt know he was married at the time.. but sometimes things happen for a reason.. he clearly wouldnt have been with me had he been happily married.... and at least he had the guts to tell his wife and do the decent thing by leaving a loveless marriage.. I believe its a lot more common to leave your family in Poland and pursue another relationship in another country.. keeping them both on the go.. being fair to no-one.

Love / Help me! I fell in love with a Polish man! [137]

I slept with a Polish guy, just a few hours after meeting him in a bar... and he barely spoke English either.. we are still together nearly 2 years later... although I have to admit that he did have a wife that he left for me. .. anyway, just wanted to share this with you..but all experiences are different. I would be surprised if he didnt have a wife or serious gf at the age of 31.. but maybe not.

Food / What are the best Polish sausages? (apart from by bfs) [22]

Ooh blimey.. dont get me banned... I'm merely expressing a healthy interest in Polish cuisine. .. now is it best to eat them hot or cold.. and should they be eaten whole or with the end chopped off?

Well I have to disagree.. cos Im only talking about Polish people in London, of which there are many, so therefore I am entitled to an opinion...and yes they may be trying to fit in with other ex-pat Poles, but that doesnt make it right ....and I wasnt being entirely serious..

Well in my experience, those groups that tend to ver do the make up are either young girls or Grandma's and prostitues.

Sorry, but I love the image of the 3 types of women you mention all swapping make up tips in the Ladies.

PS: His English was crap, he dressed awfully, and you still decided to give him a chance? Maybe it’s really true that Polish men are special.

Nah.. I was just desperate for a s***! I did fall in love with him later though... god help me.

well I'll have to take your word on it.... maybe the shops are good, but many people are lacking in sense of style then?? I am generalising here.. and I know that there are stylish Polish people, but not many of them here in the UK. My bfs mate take the p*** as they say he dresses like an English guy now.. but hes bardzo happy with that as he doesnt want to be seen to be typically Polish and reckons they are jealous.

C'mon guys.. dont wish to be rude, but Poland is hardly Milan! The men wear baseball caps and trackie trousers and the women wear hideous make up, strange shoes and tight white clothes...or perhaps I am generalising here?? Of course Ive never actually been to Poland, but have seen enough of them over here (Uk) to make me not want to go clothes shopping there.

Love / Are Polish men generally possessive? [51]

thanks eurola.. i agree with you.. he is great at cleaning too! I consider myself to be a very independent person with a good job and large circle of friends.. however, I know that I have changed pretty radically since Ive been living with 'the Pole'. He doesnt really mind my girlfriends, but male (platonic) friends are a bit of a problem. My best mate is a guy and they hate each other.

ok sorry.. that only what my bf told me... that all Polish women are looking for men with money...he was totally shocked to find that I didnt care that he doesnt have much money... but obviously he's been tainted by years spent with a Polish fish-wife.. Im sure there are lovely genuine polish girls... good and bad people of all nationalities.

more than a bit.. he is insanely jealous... which can be flattering, but also drives me crazy at times, because he has nothing to worry about from me.

Love / Are Polish men generally possessive? [51]

Thanks guys.. I appreciate the comments. Yes, the cultural differences are huge.. mostly its good, but at times difficult to understand. From my point of view its seems almost like 1950s British values.. old fashioned, but also strangely appealing, as I do think that in the UK we have lost some of those traditional family values over the years.

really or are you joking? My bf says that this is the Polish culture that is so different to English... I wondered whether this was just an excuse to justify that he doesnt like me going out with my friends so much or if it is really true.

Im only joking... but I appreciate the manners and romantic nature of Polish men...having said that I only know one.. so maybe they arent all like that. Ive never liked English men.. they seem to be lacking something for me.
