Just show some humanity - keep quiet - listen.

Merrick, they are. it was tragic, but it wasnt racists, it was a psycho act.. who the
heck burns people alive??? no one with a normal brain..

my god we are not living in the dark ages , were supposed to be civilized and act
human towards each other no matter what color / nationality.. not accuse when
something like this happens to someone but come together and find a solution to
stop it!!! and it starts with being human!!!!!

Love / Polish Womens bodies [126]

let us then switch to how knowledgeable Canadian or American women are on subjects such as history, geography or philosophy. Most know very little.

Witek, you mean to tell me that you base your relationship whos smarter?

so if she doesnt know about these things it makes her less a woman??

I didnt know these became requirements of women, did anyone else? I thought
that these subjects were per each individual interests and that you could pick
and choose what you felt would be something you as a person would like to learn
about..

my husband doesnt know genealogy, so I guess hes getting kicked to the curb for
not knowing this.. my brothers dont find interest in geography, so I guess I shouldnt
associate with them anymore because they are not smart enough ....

my friends- are not interested in history- not their bag, so I guess I will never speak
to them again because they do not measure up to the standards!!

yes, it does sound pathetic.. as does the post.. personality is the key word here
who you can relate to.. become comfortable with and make friends with.

this goes for relationships as well as friendships and family..

I would never judge by knowledge..

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

am increasingly becoming concerned that they talk about people when they are standing right in fron of them just because we cant speak polish.

I took this off the other thread you cont.......

what the heck would anyone care what someone is saying in another language?
I certainly dont. I live in the united states, I hear people from other countries
saying /talking in their native tounge and whether they are talking about me or
something else, I am not going to stress out over it.. maybe dont stare at them
or send them a dirty look and you wont feel like they are talking about you now
will ya?

I find it pathetic that people say this, and yet your life goes on doesnt it? you still
work, buy food, and your life didnt change did it? did it directly affect you to where
you lost a job? food? your car?? cant pay bills? where you oousted?

The whole of europe is changing, and people dont like change, but its going to happen
whether you want it or not. so rather then stress over it, accept it, soon other countries will open and people will move around again, till everyone gets comfortable

where they are and settle. or go back to their own.. but either way, it appears to be
happening, and fighting it isnt the solution.

UK, Ireland / Polish girl burned alive in Liverpool [201]

Shame on Poland for allowing her to come to the UK.

that was idiotic statement.. so you condone this guys actions?

so it would be ok for you to travel to another country alone, or with friends, meet
someone and they are not from uk, but another nationality, she decided to cut off
your ( peterweg) and you wont be able to have children, would it be the UK"S fault
for letting you travel??

yes, that is what i thought, this was a act of a psycho boyfriend who was prob
a stalker, she had no idea how mental he was till she broke it off, and this is the
end result.. it can happen in any country, this was tragic, awful and unforgivable.
his parents are probably beside themselfs with grief over his actions.. how could
anyone take someones life ? or be so cruel? without regard? without remorse?

Life / Help on Polish book from 1957 [3]

Ok, Need some help on this Polish book found at a auction!

What type of book did they print in 1957, it contains what looks like presidents
songs, it showed how people dressed in certain areas, it had recipes etc, the lists
goes on, and it was published in Poland.. it had history, etc, but it was sent to
new Jersey, then to Michigan to a lady who obviously passed away and someone
sold her stuff at a auction.

the book was under a bunch of pots and muffin pans which were sold as one big
item, and my friend found it and asked me about it.. I dont know, to me it appears
to be everything about Poland all in one little compact book, but it isn't really thick,
maybe about 300 pages tops. It was amazing to see something that was sent
from Poland with so much information in it.. thats why we want to know about it..

would anyone know what type of book this would be? like maybe a reference guide?
it had everything in it,, I am not kidding, from songs , recipes, presidents, secretarz
(remembered that word) and population etc.. when I see her again, I am going to
get the exact spelling on the front, and post it again.. it was amazing..

Life / How do you feel to be Polish? Can someone tell me a poem about Poland's culture? [19]

but there are negatives there too... i would be telling porkies if i said there werent...

you are right, I basically said this to stop the polonophobia stuff, negatives do exists
and its problems that need to be addressed by those living there as we in our own
countries..

if I bring up a "CONCERN" it doesnt mean I would be disrespecting in anyway as
others bring up concerns that need attention. and each country has concerns
about issues..

And I complain alot, so have at it.. but be positively concerned about it ok!!! lol

Many Canadian and Americans girls are:

1. fat as all they do is lay on the couch and watch T.V. and eat potato chips Mcdonalds.

Life / How do you feel to be Polish? Can someone tell me a poem about Poland's culture? [19]

Merged: Zero Negative feelings towards Poland

I have Zero Negative feelings towards Poland... I just want to clarify that!

Anyone else like to Clarify that so we arent calling names, please do, if you dont
like poland then please go to another board and post your views, I think a majority
here are very Pro Poland, and While there is Negative in some areas, this does not
mean we are disrespecting anyone, each subject needs discussion, every country
has areas that need help, talking about a subject doesnt make everyone a phobic.

News / Some Poles burning American flag [299]

Hate our policy but not our people...believe me, we're trying to get rid of him ;)

Fisz, no matter how many times we say it, people form their own stubborn opinions
no one knows till they visit us and see for themselfs the real America and not some
media on TV showing only what they want to show..

Bubba visited here, he and I am sure a few others can say that they enjoyed it
here, its much different, people are just people doing what they need to do and
we are friendly and outgoing..

Now now Puzz ;) be nice

merrick is puzzler? well hello stranger.. still trying to stir up the pot?

as for me being a polonophobic.. I never even heard of the word till i joined
this forum, and I dont have a phobia of my ancestral country, the only phobia
I have of them is not being accepted.. which a few things have been said to
make those of us following our roots feel pretty bad,, what would be the
correct term used for those calling us names? Americanpolishpolonophic?

anyway, I will cont my mission.. to the ship scotty!

News / Some Poles burning American flag [299]

The Americans should worry about burning human beings, including children, e.g. in Iraq.

yeah I was going to say, as long as people dont start harming human beings the
flag is a symbol, but who cares. I know I have better things to do then burn a flag
and does anyone get annoyed at the television when they are burning the flag
and everyone is pushing each other screaming then one guy gets his face smushed
against the camerman.... really symbolizes that someone could get hurt during these
so called rallys..

UK, Ireland / Getting married to a Polish Citizen in the UK [371]

Don't worry polish are easy to get

dont think so, there not prizes, and you should choose more careful words, and
be more respectful. money dont buy love, and if you think it does, your sorry life
will mean nothing.

If the supremacists on board were to read this, they would tear you up to pieces in minutes. You're crazy to say this here. In all my posts I never bashed the Polish people. I defended minorities but never bashed Poles. A dark skinned dude like you talking this crap is really out of his place here. And please don't harp about your intelligence. I know how your kind gets the degrees buddy. IIT is a joke!

Jose, these people you encountered are not regulars as you seen by them not being
members, they posted as guests. if they do come and post , its usually only to rile
up the folks , to which it worked. you came here with good intentions, so stick to that
and stop falling into the mix. you won some respect, your a member , you have some
friends, so dont worry about the other crap.

every now and then, someone posts and its the way of the times that someone isnt
going to like the tone of someones posts. mine dont get raving reviews. but they
are my opinions, like emm or not, I say my piece and duck.. lol

I am sure if we all stood face to face, with the exception of a few, we would all be
very close friends having a great time. not even thinking about silly opinions and
let me tell you dancing is universal language, when people dance, everyone has
a good time. and even that has its own uniqueness in itself. :)

Life / Old Disease in Poland. [12]

He was being selfish, pure and simple.....didn't care about anyone but himself, IMHO.

I agree. and him being a lawyer, well , they are notorious for investigation, didnt he
check some sources to see what he should do?

lying to the media gets him no where, people will form an opinion and I think
his sneaking got him into some trouble.. those people on the plane were
Pizzed off!! big time.

It's because of strains like this that people must always complete a round of antibiotics, even if they feel better after only taking a few......

is your facility noticing a increase in this? weve had slight increase, but enough
for some red flags.

Life / Old Disease in Poland. [12]

I cant believe he got on a flight and has endangered all those people

yes. common sense was ignored in this case.. I dont know what doctors he sported
for his heath care, but saying that it wasnt contagious "someones lying"

if anythings even suspected where i work, they keep them till all tests are complete
and its ruled out. or they get treatment.. but they are isolated till its deemed safe.

they put it down to the immigrants (not European) those from 3rd world countries...

this should be controlled at borders.. now that I do agree with..especially where this
is concerned....

Life / Old Disease in Poland. [12]

ok, maybe I worded this wrong, I seen something recently about bubonic plague
and now a new strain of Tb which is drug resistant ( the guy all over the news)

I guess what my question is. these diseases which we battled for so long to get
under control are now coming back into the picture.. some which were almost
non -existant or were they? did they take a new form?

Pretty scarey if you ask me.. especially since I have a daughter which is immuno-
suppressed. and we think we have things under-control.. luck has been with us
so far :) but non the less. its a constant worry.

Life / Old Disease in Poland. [12]

Old disease in Poland -Now Long gone, but is it really?

America is now seeing problems with this. Old deadly bacteria which was said
to be dormant, rather small number of cases, barely enough to count now coming
back into the picture of the 21st century.. is Poland now finding old disease re-
surfacing again?

History / Occupations of Poles during 18th and 19th centuries [2]

Occupations during the 18th and 19th century are usually listed on immigration
I think it would be great to create a list for those researching, and even go back
further as occupations changed over time.

some of the occupations I have seen in my researches are
Laborer-
Farmer
Servant-housemaid, nanny
blacksmith-metal
deck hand-sailor
soldier-military
Berger-landlord of property
Town administrator-Mayor

all found on immigration. as for inside poland, during these times, can someone
add to this. and if it appears to be unusual or never seen before occupation
to maybe give brief description?

Genealogy / Luranc Andrzej from Osiek near Oswiecim - locating Pictures of Politicians - aka Town Administrator [13]

I know this is an old post and I can't find an answer to it

But it does bring to mind the idea of photos and newspaper archives.

Does anyone have any addresses.

this is really stupid, cause it was mine when I first found all of you :)

I don't think any exists for him, yes great gramps was town admin and
he lived past the war ( can you believe it :) )

he was born in like 1860's and died just after the war.. thats why when I was
told that the cemeteries have people buried right over others, I was bummed.

its like theres nothing left of his time here, not even a grave.

maybe they do things different in other towns, that is why I asked.
is there such a thing as pictures of political people who served as mayors?

Do you think it could be as simple as contacting the town officials office of today?

if this was that easy, and there was a actual picture of him, I would
fall over in my chair right now!

Daffy I have looked and looked ( one eyeball fell out put it back in) and looked!

at first I didn't even know what you called a Mayor in Poland..

my dads side they were burgers? but that is a landlord right?
so I have landlords and mayors and military so far.

this give me an idea :) be ready for a new topic.

Life / Priests in Poland [28]

Americans are known in Poland to be arrogant and demanding..

lef, I have seen enough information on here to know that you are full of donkey
poop! quit grabbin at straws and try to be helpful for once !

everything belongs to them and please give me. ( more straws)
your just being hateful now.. so you lied, its not all about foriegn policys, its about knocking us down thats it!

If your dear friend ( my cousin thank you- try to read the whole thread next time) !

followed the correct protocols (what would that be lef the expert on poland) ?

and perhaps had a different attitude ( you know her attitude too?) wow , and I thought
telepathy was a myth..

she may have got what she wanted.

she was sent away by the priest after
she asked politely about our family history.. thats it.. he didnt want to be bothered
apparently, this isnt the first time I have heard this..

we know for records there is a fee. of course there is. she wanted to get some copies
and I know that there is information there as the organists was the one who helped
me in the past. he must have not been there that day otherwise she would have been helped.. not all priests are like this I suppose, but two encounters like this brings up

questions which I know there are protocols, every state and city has them.

Patrycja19,

I have sent you a PM on the subject.

Thank you wroclaw.. its always nice to get help on the subject rather then critisim.

Very helpful :))) Very Appreciated :)))

lef,

I think that part of the problem is that Genealogy and the way the church works, are not compatible.
Some priests here can be a pain in the butt. They want every last detail from you when you get married etc, but they won't give anything back.
Church records need to be put into the hands of other organizations. Much like they are in the UK.
Genealogy worldwide is continually growing and it is a way of bringing people together. I would have thought that this alone would be good reason to help.

wise words from a wise man!! much respect to you Wroclaw!!

USA, Canada / Gas prices in America [127]

I dont know about anyone else who lives in America, those visiting America from
Poland, but our gas prices keep going up..

the other day I flipped my lid at a gas station, I know this doesnt solve anything
but I felt better after I said something to the attendant who is probably part
owner, and said you would be gas gougeing now would you?? cause its pretty
sad that gas prices go up and people who are in a worse situation then some
cant even buy it to go to the store to buy food.. isnt that sad??

to me its sad, the whole idea of it. I had planned to go north this summer, I really
dont think that will happen..

travel/tourism goes down when the prices go up, so why would they do this to
spite themselfs?? or is it one mans doing?

what is the gas prices like in poland? are you suffering along with us?
what about the UK ???

heck with it, whats it like all over?? everyone got something to say about this??
Please vent!! :)
