What should Poland and Poles do, after first day of nuclear war? [133]
Allying ourselves with the Soviets in the immediate pre-World War 2 environment would have been most favourable for Poles in the long run. It
Rubbish, Stalin would have our Home Army shot and murdered anyway since he wanted the national elite silenced for good to thwart any resistance to the new regime, our economy would stil be drained since Russia was broken with collectivisation and central planning and needed to rob its satelites blind and naked to operate its own economy.
It is positive that Poland would have suffered less, even if the Soviets decided to invade us anyway. Less deaths, and less destruction overall.
The important people would still die, Stalin had very specific views on Inteligentsia, the economy would still get broken, the country would still lose its sovereignty and we would still not be able to partake in Marshalls plan and have to build huge heavy industry which was expensive and pointless.
Whether we fought or not everything would be the same, there was no mild treatment for Poland.
Less deaths, and less destruction overall. Polish population would probably be 45+ million right now.
Soviets are responsible for approximately 1.5 milion dead Poles, more than a half dead via resettlement, we've lost about 2 milion people to Russians, Germany cost us 3.5 milion.
These people would still be resettled as part of Stalins policy, they werent resettled because we resisted but because Stalin was the man with a plan and it required Poles not to be there, we would not avoid massacres of our officers too, Stalin had no qualms about snuffing his own, what makes you think bending over would make him suddenly show mercy?
