Lets not get ahead of ourselves, partial compensation is the only acceptable solution, i'd not have people booted from their homes for foreigners over any property no matter how much right they have to it (and very few can prove it) give 'em some symbolic compensation and thats that.

Correction Poland is a very unpleasant place if youre not Polish end even then it sucks pretty badly.

The problem is that the greatest oppression to the Polish minority is created in Belarus by Lukashenka, the loyal Russian ally, not in Baltic states (though there are problems too).

He did not need Poland for anything other than a buffer zone, while our military was formidable in 1939 it was also a threat, he saw it as a threat thats why Katyń and similar executions happened, he did not want us to be his ally, he'd accept our support of course but then it would still go the same way.

The important people would still die, Stalin had very specific views on Inteligentsia, the economy would still get broken, the country would still lose its sovereignty and we would still not be able to partake in Marshalls plan and have to build huge heavy industry which was expensive and pointless.
Whether we fought or not everything would be the same, there was no mild treatment for Poland.
Soviets are responsible for approximately 1.5 milion dead Poles, more than a half dead via resettlement, we've lost about 2 milion people to Russians, Germany cost us 3.5 milion.
These people would still be resettled as part of Stalins policy, they werent resettled because we resisted but because Stalin was the man with a plan and it required Poles not to be there, we would not avoid massacres of our officers too, Stalin had no qualms about snuffing his own, what makes you think bending over would make him suddenly show mercy?

The only similar interests we had was Ukraine, we both wanted it (well Ukrainians wanted it too but they never were a factor that much).
