Life / Moving to Poland next year, want to bring my Nissan Skyline [46]

(luckily the police don't accept credit cards).

lol - i remember i was driving from gdansk to germany back in the 90s i got stopped by the rozzers - saw it about to happen so stashed my cash under the seat. they took my passport and said there was a cash machine i should drive to in a town about 15 kms away and when i came back with the cash i could have my passport back.

i drove a couple of ks down the road, stopped for a smoke and then drove back and paid the mandat

UK, Ireland / Are polish pupils harming native british childrens education? [280]

the grants are in the region of E1500 which can be spent on a wide number of specialist courses

in most cases the grant will cover cost of course, transport and accommodation which means virtually no additional cost for the teacher other than living expenses

Work / How much for a private English lesson in Poland? [10]

whatever you think the local market is willing to pay given demand, competition and how you want to position yourself

as ukpolska suggests, 50zl is a figure to start with

hey does the UK have a lottery??

the uk does have a lottery and many worthwhile causes benefit from it

but there is much contention about where the money goes and in some cases people feel that causes being funded by the lottery should be funded by the government through taxes paid

britain is also funding a war that diverts a lot of money from where it should be spent

so the EU should have put in place *first* the resources.. but
not knowing the full extent of how many would immigrate, they became overwhelmed.

exactly - some resources were put in place but it appears that the british government totally underestimatted the number of poles and other nationalities that would leave their home in search of a better life in the uk

I am sure they need it with the abundance of pupils and need for translators and such
why would you believe otherwise.

exactly - why people believe that the uk has an unlimited pot of resources to draw upon is beyond me, but obviously some of them do

UK, Ireland / Drunken Poles on the streets of London!! [103]

still unable to produce a quote where i blame poles for the under funding and under resourcing of the british education system, which is hardly suprising given its not there

your are laughable, little man - you could teach benny hill a thing or two

Are any EU grants being given to assist ?

there is a considerable amount of EU funding available to poles and not being used

one of the organisations i work with specialises in Comenius and Grundtvig grants available through the Life Long Learning plan and will open its polish office in the new year

the organisation works to raise awareness of the grants available, identify suitable courses for the grants to be spent on and facilitate the application process

the organisation targets teachers, specifically english language teachers

there is a lot of money available that is not being used because people just dont know about it

Or simply using that fact as an excuse to get more funds...

thats the sort of negative response we are coming to expect from you

as youre obviously a genius perhaps you could explain to british tyeachers how they can provide additional classes without additional resources

doesnt everyone deserve a good education if it can be provided..

I cant open the link. so not sure what the story says

everybody deserves an education

what the link says is that the sudden influx of immigrants into the uk is overstretching an already overstretched education system and having a (negative) impact on students and staff alike

it also says that teachers are at their witts end trying to accomodate the need for additional language lessons needed by some of the immigrants and are calling for additional support

because you did and you do on every occasion you get.

absolute tosh - take the quote from the thread that shows this is what ive said - you cant because its not there

what you fail to realise little man is that the thread is open for all to see - at no point did i blame the poles or any other immigrant group for the underfunded under resourced british education

you do noting but re-enforce the many negative polish stereotypes - you bring shame on the many poles who struggle to get away from the likes of you

shame on you you nasty piece of work - you are no friend of poland

because you did and you do on every occasion you get.

exactly the point i am making - you see what you want to see and not what is there - you thrive on victim mentality and shirk all responsibility for your own actions

you disgrace to modern poland

You have just stated that I am wrong but you but you forgot to mention where and why...

you implied that i was blaming polish immigrants for the under funding and lack of resources in the british education system - i said nothing of the sort and suggested that you had misread or not understood what i had written - you then got abusive and i followed suit

the thread is still there for all to see - go back and have a look

Real Estate / "Forma własności: hipoteczne" - why is this on a property schedule? [22]

hmmm... will try but i dont fully understand the ins and outs of much of it which as far as i can tell has to do with the ownership of flats iven out by the state

i have come across properties (flats) where you buy it from the owner (occupant) but dont actually become the owner yourself until some point in the future - 5 yrs or more. These properties are often extremely cheap or are offered on an exchange deal whereby you give the owner (occupant) another flat and get teirs in return... except you become the owner at some point in the future

i have come across a number of flats where you are not able to take a mortage out on them for whatever reason so must buy cash

the weirdest ones i have come across is where some how you buy ownership of a room in a larger flat - possibly having a communal kitchen and bathroom... i have a friend who owns a room with a huge balcony overlooking one of the best streets in sopot but 3 or 4 other people own rooms in the same flat and they all share kitchen and bathroom

i have another friend whose mother has lived in a state owned flat in gdansk old town and has the option to buy it... except her mother also has a room in the flat which is considered a seperate residence and in order for my friends mother to buy the flat she needs the consent of her mother... who wont give it to her...

or something like that...

the british education system is woefully under-resourced and underfunded - taking from the limited pot of resources/funds to provide english language lessons and additional support for immigrant children deprives british children of monies/resources that could have should have been spent on their education.

if you lived in the uk you might have figured this out

a few quotes from the article that clearly state the measure of the problem -

"the problem was most acute in rural areas and smaller towns, which lacked the support available in cities."

"teachers had reported greater pressure on schools from an increase in pupils who did not speak English."

"teachers had been "pulling their hair out" trying to accommodate unexpected arrivals."

"arrived with seven or eight youngsters and taken them to a GCSE English class, and none of the youngsters can speak English"

"individual schools did not have the money or the capacity to absorb large numbers of newly-arrived pupils"

if you can sit there feeling comfortable that this is not having an impact on british clidren's education then there is no point in continuing this discussion..;.
