News / Do you think that Polish catholics resent the new German Pope? [108]

I despise anyone who was in 'Hitler's Youth'. Is that clear enough?

Well good thing you didnt live back then. Ever thought of people who didnt go with the program were shot or put in concentration camps too. Its not like every german chose to be a Nazi, in the Army or Hitler youth.

These days it is easy to say that they should have stood up and fought Hitler but it wasnt as easy back in the 30's.

UK, Ireland / 2 Polish men killed in Drimnagh, Dublin [29]

Well unfortunately these things happen on a daily basis all over the world. I dont think we should be looking at Dublin in a different way due to this incident.

A former german colleague of mine has been assaulted twice within two weeks where as nothing ever happened to me. Something could happen to me tomorrow as well whether it is in Athlone, Dublin, Warsaw or anywhere else for that matter. Unfortunately Sc*mbags are everywhere and we can only hope that those responsible will get what they deserve.

Doesnt mean that this isnt a tragedy and my condolences go to the family........

Work / Do companies in Poland recruit from abroad??? [8]

I have sent several applications to companies and recruitment agencies in Poland but have not had one single answer.

I did the same with companies in the Czech Republic and in most cases I either had an Interview or got some sort of answer.

Do Companies in Poland not like to recruit from abroad or is it just me going about it in a wrong way?

Love / why is the older women such a problem for polish guys [37]

he's just a pervert

or a legend :)

I used to go out with a 28 year old when I was 22. According to my mates that was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. According to them now as Im 28 the best thing would be to date a younger one.

Strange ..................

Love / Dating a Polish girl - need some advice [45]

Personally I'd stay away. She asked you to take her out knowing that her bf is sitting at home thinking she's gone off to work nothing else. Fair enough relationships can go worng but she should break up with him first.

Either way someone is gonna get hurt and if you dont want it to be you leave her before it is getting too hard

Travel / Pubs or disco in Wroclaw, Krakow, and Warszawa? [30]

I went to a club called Lemon I think with the bar being downstairs. Was open until 5am.Drink prices were decent enough and the crowd seemed ok too. Loads of lookers in there.Went back the following night too. Before that we went to a bar in the old town. Cant remember the name of it but it had the barcardi breezer logo all over its walls. Good relaxed athmosphere in there too altough I was amazed that the beer was more expensive than in lemon which was open till 5

Unfortunately this is what most people know about your country not knowing what they're missing. Keukenhof, van Gogh and Amsterdam Museum, the lovely city of Utrecht and the Islands further up north to name a few.......

UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland, are they second class citizens? [90]

wow what a great discussion.

I'm originally german and live in Ireland. I never had any problems here myself. Infact whenever I say that I am from germany they wont let me go and keep coming up with more and more stories about their own trips to germany (mostly about 88 in stuttgart).

Anyway there are people though that have told me that they are glad about people from germany, france, netherlands and so on but that they wouldnt be too fond of people from further east. Why that is I dont know but maybe because the polish people in the town i live seem to be sticking to their own and hardly mix with the locals. I was in Warsaw last week though and was very surprised as people there really seem to make the effort to get to know us and were extremely welcoming so maybe it is just the fact that it is easier to stay amongst your own when abroad.

For the rest I dont understand why people getting at their throats about which country is the greatest. I lived and worked in Ireland, the UK and the Netherlands and have to say all countries were great, the people lovely and the woman (well not all lol ) beautiful. There are ups and downs, good and bad things everywhere thats life but the good thing in this day and age is that if we dont like it we can pack our bags and move on. Now kiss and make up lol :)

Work / Work and Life in Warsaw [5]

Thanks for that James. Will certainly check them out.

As to the standard of living. I consider myself a fairly social person. Like to go out and meet friends or new people. Also like watching football and travel around over the weekends. As for the rest I am not that fuzzy. Would prefer my own wee appartment but have been sharing for a long time so I wouldnt mind that either.

Been working in Credit Management for around 6 years now and have been involved in transitions, implementations and testing of SAP R/3 as well as managing between 6 and 10 staff. I'm native german with fluent english and advanced dutch.

Not too sure what to ask for when stating my salary expectations. obviously dont want to undersell myself but also dont want to ask for too much and ruin my chances straight away........

Work / Work and Life in Warsaw [5]

Hi,

I just got back from Warsaw last night and abolutely loved it. Was actually thinking about going to Prague but I changed my mind as I thought Warsaw is a fantastic and buzzing city. People were so friendly and helpful and the bars and clubs we went to were good too.

Anyway here my question. I have tried jobpilot.pl and would like to know if there are any other job sites out there you would recommend? Would I be better off sending my CV to companies directly and what would a good salary be to lie comfortably on in Warsaw?

Many thanks in advance :)
