Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

all I see is our wonderful culture changing a bit with the EU

well, i wager €5 with you it is a more positive thing than you realise now. Im speaking from over 30years of Irish involvement with the Eu and we were the proverbial 'eldest child' and now the EU has a better idea how to stimulate and correctly develop more efficently.

if you want any apple products PM me, i get 20% off for you

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

it is polish greed that is forcing property prices sky high, not hoards of scavaging capitalists...

i wouldnt be so strong worded as BW, but its not the buyer setting the price, BW is correct. it is the Polish owners. You would sell too for a high price...if you had the land to give.

try take the high ground if you wish, maybe you'd turn it down to spite us.

I would sell for high price - i could use the money, thats why its supply v demand. the right price, etc etc. its what allows a market economy thrive and why communism died (well, one reason why anyway)

i was in wroclaw 11/06 and alot of building is being done

I was there last week...OMG :)

The amount they did in that time was PHENOMINAL!! :)

More to do, but wow! the progress made! It will not surprise me the rate that poland will grow in the EU (as the EU is funding alot of it)

The fact is that Poland will become one of the BIG countries of the EU (as an economic force - its already BIG (38ish million around the EU)

AND ola, EU, all about intregration, unity, free movement, free DOM :) its a GOOD thing that is happening to Poland though you cannot see it now.

My girlfriend had to swallow her words from last NOV-06 when the university looked so bad under renovation, i said it will look lovely when done. she was oh, they will never finish it, they will make a mess, it will look horrible (to be fair, alot of them said this)

But nie, its a fantastic job they did and to ALL the spots i saw finished since november, even my girlfriend has been caught being, dare i say, optimistic about it :)

Ola, I am disappointed in your xenaphobic attitude.

Poland is much better off in the EU (as opposed to the old system in the 80's)
Capitalism is NOT destroying your chances of buying a home.

I live in Ireland and am Irish. I earn less than average wage and cannot even affford half a flat if i tried :) Its economic forces, inflation, wages, etc. Its not the fact that germans, french, english, other Irish etc buy land. (its not this to any large degree at all!)

I am a business studies degree holder and Accountant by proffession and as some one who studies economics I cannot see any valid, logical, rational, fair and balanced arguement supporting your claim.

Capitolism is not perfect. But its not 'bloody foreigners' that are to 'blame' Its like crime in Ireland. it takes ONE pole to be convicted of robbery and all of sudden, all crime here is polish fault!! (which is not true and any rational person knows this - also, this topic has been discussed in length before)

I also, would like to buy land in poland so that i may work, live, earn living there. I will not let any xenophobe dictate what i do in a free European Union. If you wish to be so that is of course your perogative, I would presume you are catholic (forgive the presumation) 'treat others as you would like them to treat you' im sure this includes being racist (for ANY reason - there is NO justification for it)

Love / Shall we go back to interracial relationships for a bit? [50]

mixed couples, mixed races, its all good! if it is love and genuine as i suspect it is in your case. I have to disagree with sedzia's sentiments of not agreeing with mixed couples BUT respect hugely sedzia's attitude that you are free to do so.

It can work, The things worth having in life, usually are hard work. I am in a long distance relationship at present with a Polish girl (we are both white and catholic upbringing - a point i made refernce to in a post of mine ages ago, that this should not matter, but it did! i was accepted more easier to them and her to mine (friends and families) as we both met the 'norms' of each others backgrounds. It is still hard however as we long to be in each others arms every waking (and sleeping) moment.

So my love for her keeps me going and she tells me the same.

If he loves you, he wil be able to leave you only to return when he can and when you can (when you finish your studies for example)

love does conquer all

News / Are the Polish embarrased by President Kaczynski? [30]

it was interesting to note the changes in my polish friends on this matter over the last 6 months or so... first they were angry... then they joked... now they refuse to discuss the political climate with any degree of depth or seriousness...

about the pres.? or homosexuals?

Hi Daffy,
One thing thats always surprising is people's faces when you get into warsaw, they are gray with misery and depression. Outside of warsaw however, they seem quite happy, and they are building huge houses, driving newer cars.
I was really impressed with the change, but the thing is: The people building huge houses have family in Ireland/UK earning money.

The other people without family abroad say they cannot even keep up with the bills

Ah yea, i see that too but you'd swear they were the only ones to have hard times and its annoying to be told - you cant understand - when you do.

UK, Ireland / English, Irish, Scots: They're All One, Genes Suggest [69]

partially

:)

Oppenheimer has relied on work by Peter Forster, a geneticist at Anglia Ruskin University, to argue that Celtic is a much more ancient language than supposed, and that Celtic speakers could have brought knowledge of agriculture to Ireland, where it first appeared. He also adopts Forster's argument, based on a statistical analysis of vocabulary, that English is an ancient, fourth branch of the Germanic language tree, and was spoken in England before the Roman invasion.

FROM the article and SAID by the VERY guy who is talking about the genetic similarity! even HE acknowledge's english language roots!

nglish, in his view, was already spoken there, probably introduced before the arrival of the Romans by tribes such as the Belgae, whom Caesar describes as being present on both sides of the Channel.

The Belgae perhaps introduced some socially transforming technique, such as iron-working, which led to their language's replacing that of the indigenous inhabitants, but Forster said he had not yet identified any specific innovation from the archaeological record.

Oppenheimer said genes "have no bearing on cultural history." There is no significant genetic difference between the people of Northern Ireland, yet they have been fighting with each other for 400 years, he said.

which is waht we've all said .

Genetically the similarity, makes sense BUT you not factoring in socio-political factors. and im tired of this to the point i had to use YOUR only source of 'evidence'
