News / Do you think that Polish catholics resent the new German Pope? [108]

If nationality isn`t important why is Benedict a German?

Blame those who established democracy based on ethnic origin. Previously monarchies were often multi-ethnic and neither king or people cared about each other ethnic origin. We had many foreign kings and it was common practice in Europe. Please note that Vatican is NOT democratic, it has monarchical structure. Vatican don't empathize German origin of the current Pope because this is irrevelant. This fact is raised by journalists thinking in categories established on democracy based on nationality.

OW NO its religion popping its ugly head up again, get down, get down, the sex, love, welcoming, random chat topics are all so much better than this sort of tripe

If you are not interested then don't read, very simple.

News / Do you think that Polish catholics resent the new German Pope? [108]

THIS is a discussion about why we resent the new German Pope - I'm answering you HONESTLY, so BACK OFF!

I'm answering honestly as well, in my opinion you are incompetent to lecture a Pope. This is not any personal attack, I don't consider myself to be much more competent than you.

The Catholic church must EVOLVE, not DEVOLVE - THAT IS MY POINT. And that goes down to why our JP2 was so beloved - he was Evolutionary in what he did.

Asked what is wrong with BXVI policies you are unable provided any details just such empty slogans like above. Thus I think that you simply don't know. You have write slander against BXVI showing lack of historic knowledge, I'm afraid that you don't know more about mentioned crusades... This is just wrong to be JPII cultist. Don't you know that JPII had very god opinion about BXVI, he nominated him to be Prefect of Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

If you don't like the EU, then vote against it, lobby against it - do whatever you can. But as far as I can see, Politics and Religion always are intertwined, throughout history.

If not the EU, so from what the Pope is supposed to rescue Poland? Less religion is politics is better, this is not up to Pope to rescue any countries, he have not such competences.

Dumbledor was implied homosexual, but you NEVER saw him have a relationship, so it was more of teaching tolerance in her last book.

Like I have wrote yesterday, children are not interested in sexual preferences of book's heroes. Those people who want to educate small children about these issues have sexual problems themselves. I don't buy any "tolerance" excuses.

As for Hitler's youths - did this pope ever say he was forced into it? Is it true, you joined or died? I don't have that answer, I wasn't alive back then.

I have wrote that it was obligatory. Beside of that if you don't know then why you spread false informations about somebody? What would you say if somebody did it to you? Julie a secret communist agent in the US spied fellow Poles?

Lesser - evidently 'Talking Heads' has much more publicity than the pope.

And this is very sad news for humanity.

This pope isn't going to free Poland

I would wish that he free us from this damned European Union. This is your concern as well? Still don't confuse political activity with religious leadership.

so tell me, other than make us lose followers, what good is he going to do?

Cardinal Ratzinger was chosen to become a Pope and not Julie Potocka. So why don't you leave to him what is up to Pope to solve? Pope should do his job and you yours which does not means undermining his authority.

News / Do you think that Polish catholics resent the new German Pope? [108]

like Benedict coming out against the Harry Potter books after John Paul had approved of them. This is a small issue, I understand, but it's indicative of a larger issue.

First of all I need to write that I did not read this books, so I haven't first hand opinion. (How about you?) However some things seems to be strange to me. Every each book get exordinary attention in media outlets. To be honest I don't remember any book ever got as much attention in media, especially book for children. These free adverts are worth millions only in Poland and it seems that in other countries situation is the same. If media manipulate adults practically everyday then what would be so strange if this time children would be on target. Children easier accept prepared thesis.

Second strange event that I have heard about is author announcing that some hero from this book is a homosexual. Since when children cares about sexual preferences of book's heroes? So why the hell she suddenly decided to announce such information? Something stinks here...

According to Lifesite News this is not true that JPII approved this book.

Doesn't the Catholic Church have better things to do than come out against children's books?

From what I understand this was not church initiative. However it depends what one call "children's book", a message is important. A Catholic should have some trust to the Pope, especially if issue is so trivial. A Catholic should not buy this book "just in case", many others are available on the market . If you cannot trust him about stupid book then how about more important problems? Who has more authority in your eyes, Pope or talking heads in TV?

I hear what you're saying when you say Benedict is unifying the church but John Paul was unifying the world. He reached beyond creeds and religions to all people.

I'm not big fan of ecumenism, Catholics should have good relations with people of other religions but finally should be aware that faiths are not really equal. Otherwise they are rather heretics. Benedict XVI is a leader of the Catholic Church and not the leader of the world.

I'm sorry lesser, because you make good points, but for Poles like myself and apparently Julie, we're too stubbornly blinded by JPII to see anybody else.

I'm more than sure that JPII would not glad if he knew that some people practice his personal cult. It has nothing to do with Catholicism.

If you can't tell I'm Polish, I'm sorry. I followed this Pope, and read much of what he was about.

If you are Polish then you think that you have the right to speak in the name of Poles?

Yes, John Paul was progressive, compared to this one. I prefer a Progressive Pope, one who cares about bringing the Catholic Church back together, rather than continuing its defrag.

Some say that JPII was too conservative. The church from its nature is a conservative organization. Benedict XVI actually made step towards Traditional Catholics basically restoring possibility of organizing traditional masses. This is step towards unification and what is more de-nationalization of the church, this is a pathology that for example caused that this thread exist. But please give some examples of "too" conservative policy of current Pope if you can?

I despise anyone who was in 'Hitler's Youth'. Is that clear enough?

All German children were forcibly drafted to this organization. Pope came from anti-nazi family and never supported Nazi politics. If for example your child would be raped then of course you would despise the child right?

I agree with, "he may be the pope - but he isn't OUR POPE!"

Our? In the name of whom do you write this?

I don't like his throw back ideas

For example?

can't wait for another Pope who cares about the people again, like John Paul!

Because you don't see something happening, it does not mean that this is not happening.

News / Happy Birthday Mr. Fascist (ie. Roman Giertych) [37]

From what I have read about Primo de Riviera, I would take him over Mussolini but still this is unacceptable. Old Falange consisted important but for the sake of Spain just a part of the Francist camp in the civil war. Indeed Spain is good example to to proof my point. After the civil war old Falange (good at battlefield) was the most influential part in coalition. However for the sake of Spain they could not do whether they wanted, other groups prevented them from taking total control. In effect although Spanish economy struggled, the country was not completely devastated. With time Franco noticed that this model simply don't work and Falange lost its importance, while people from Opus Dei liberalized economy and brought prosperity. Thus Falange was great to help take the power from the reds but very bad when running the country. This is because fascism is like communism, economic model is almost the same. If communism don't work then neither fascism.

News / Happy Birthday Mr. Fascist (ie. Roman Giertych) [37]

[i]fascism
a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralizedautocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economicand social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

merriam-webster.com/dictionary/fascism

Fascism is founded on socialism like communism. If you replace in this definition nationalism/racism by internationalism then you have basically definition of communism. The point is that fascists and communists hate each other so much because they consist two radical parts of the same socialist camp. They are worth each other, they would ruin every country in which they would gain the power. (and this is pathetic)

Life / The Change in the Role of Women in the Polish Society [32]

Oh my God! Original post, what a heavy babble! :)

At the turn of the 20th century the role of the Polish woman, her needs, and place within a family has changed with every generation. Not so long ago, a Polish woman was supposed to take care of household, kitchen, and children. It was her primary activity. Women took care of homely atmosphere, made sure that all household duties has been performed before a husband came back from work. It was very rare that a woman worked for living and it was impossible for her to devote herself completely to her professional career.

Yeah, realize personal ambitions in professional career... Do you realize how few people is potentially able to realize their ambitions? Somehow in every society much more people do relatively low paid jobs than well paid jobs. Vast majority must work to survive and care about its family. Do you think that vast majority of men realized their ambitions, jobs that they hold satisfy them? Ask any average man! So if mostly intellectual capacity prevents them from this, how do you think those supposed modern woman would be different in general?

So if we accept that, that means that majority of woman will do often pretty the same jobs at work that they would do staying at home. Suddenly this would make them satisfied and fulfill ambitions? Sure maybe they need to work to bring cash but please there is no ideology behind this behavior just reality.

Modern Polish women seem to be the real human beings in the struggle for freedom. They are open for the new; they control their lives; search for opportunities. For many of them, professional career has become more and more important; they show the abilities which equal those of men. The old model of a Polish woman, devoted entirely to her home, becomes less and less popular and men gradually take up roles traditionally reserved for women. Polish women are nowadays independent. Even though it is more difficult to get a job paid equally to that of a man, they show great invention in creating a new class of a woman. They are eager to improve their professional qualifications as well as to develop their interests.

I swear that if you would replace modern to Soviet this would look like old Soviet propaganda. I have read parts (because this was very unreadable) of communist era book praising life in the Soviet Union, there was of course chapter about progressive woman (dojarki, traktorzystki etc). This is awful blah blah blah. Part about real human beings is just outstanding. Shame on you!

Women want to be strong, independent, appreciated by the society, and most of all, by men.

Utter nonsense, when on earth women where not appreciated by society?! By men?! What is more, women are part of this society!! How can you seriously believe in these things you wrote? :)

Women’s average earnings as a percentage of men’s, latest figures (%)

On the job market there is no men and woman, just employed people of whom work is worth some certain value. This is the factor which create differences as far as salaries are concentrated.

News / Happy Birthday Mr. Fascist (ie. Roman Giertych) [37]

I like Roman but he simply wasn't a good politician.

Yeah, but how many good politicians we have on other hand?

why is he a fascist?

He is not, I think that she is Roman ex, how on earth she would remember his birth date otherwise? :) This thread should be moved to love & relationship section.

nothing wrong for be a Fascist .
i m one and i will be always

Being fascist is pretty pathetic. Every fascist is a socialist from definition. You have made some anti-socialist statements in the past so you cannot be a fascist. Or you change your mind?

Life / School for 6 year olds an obligation in Poland soon? [19]

Governments want simply start to control our children as soon as possible, affect them with certain values. Also bureaucrats and teachers want to create more jobs for themselves thus they will always support such ideas.

Do you have home schooling?

I think that this is possible but rather unpracticed because parents would need strictly stick to official program. If so, this is nonessential to bother even if you would have enough time.

History / Polish-German history book for Schools [28]

All the more reason to standardize history books.

This does not looks like a comment from somebody who would read history books.

History is very dangerous because it is too often manipulated or misinterpreted.

May I suggest to jump to a giant condom when reading? 100% safety guarantee!

it will never be part of education in Poland and Germany. nonsens!

I would not be so sure in your place. Even if it wont be obligatory for children, still this might be obligatory program for teachers as far as Polish-German relations are concentrated. Otherwise why would be the government involved in such project?

News / Poles bring new life to eastern Germany [14]

I don't want to hijack this thread but this is very long topic that you mentioned. I will just reduce my response to point out how much cash western Germans pumped to Eastern part of the country (much smaller and less populated than Poland!). Since unification they transfered more than $1.5 trillion and the results are very poor. This is an example how much is worth the concept of the socialist redistribution of wealth.

Having poured $1.5 trillion into the east since reunification in 1990, many Germans now regard this grand project as a costly failure -- one that could drag down the rest of the country.

History / Polish-German history book for Schools [28]

What means one history book written by Polish and German authors showing both points of views, and all aspects of this hard neighbourhood.

Yeah, of course. So why nobody write such books destined for a private readers if this is so great idea? Because those people would not waste their time and money for a politically correct version of history with carefully and selectively chosen topics. They prefer to read two books, one from German and second from Polish perspective.

Thus this book will be destined for schools, both Ministries of Propaganda (sorry, Education!) will proclaim it to be obligatory. This is how the bureaucrats doing business. Everything everywhere must be the same and obligatory.

especially Brits due to old Irish problem
What do you know about it, apart from something you read on the net!

I might not know any details but this is not a discussion related to British-Irish history. I have the right to suspect that this is reason of this animosity to the Catholic Church among many Brits. If you have different theory I would be interested.

How on earth do you know?

What in this forum is very visible...

Rocky posted his thread and three Brits plus one Aussie of British decent were quick to confirm him about how bad CC is. This is even funny, did you heard about Pavlov's dogs syndrome?

Below is your approach from other thread. How do you know that? Where did you learned to think in this way?

Why have they? Rome has no say in the day to day running of Poland or it shouldnt have, whilst the Catholic church may have had its place in Polish society during communism, it doesnt anymore, things change and time moves on Poland are a member of the EU now they have more to gain by having a credible party in government and not some puppet government.

Life / A Polish Priest lying about freemasons [57]

There is some serious inconsistence in your posting. Firstly you empathized that Polish priest lying about masons and seemed to be outraged that something like this goinjg on in Poland.

A Polish Priest lying about freemasons

and now you claim that you were a church going Catholic who have seen priests (I assume, in the US ) slander masons. If you have seen this more than once in the US, so why you were so surprised by this Polish phenomena?

I was confirmed as a catholic buddy ur asssuming again! I went to mass for 16 yrs lol. Ive seen priests slander masons

In my opinion either whole your story is fake or at least you decided to upgrade it. What is the point Rocky?

Life / A Polish Priest lying about freemasons [57]

Im a freemason buddy. I possess knowledge u cannot ever possess unless u 2 ask12b1 and recieve ur 1st degree.

LOL, OK!

Well, maybe you should be concentrating on this town, and the priest? Do you lack the courage to go talk to him, face to face? Rather, you come on this forum and speak indirectly. Go arrange for some air time, and broadcast yourself for the town, and let them know what free masonry is all about.
I myself have never heard the church preach against free masons, in any shape or form, and I frequent church quite often.

What in this forum is very visible are such foreigners from the start biased towards the church (especially Brits due to old Irish problem). They come to Poland with this attitude, of course never attend any masses and have absolutely no contact with any clergy. However they heard something from somebody about some misbehavior of priests or total domination of the church over Polish public opinion. Of course such "knowledge" fits to their vision which they brought to Poland from the UK. They hear only what they want to hear.

I also somehow cannot recall any priests talking about masonry during the masses.
