And Polish names in Germany. Poles, Germans, Russians, Europeans, we're all kindred people and I wish that we would stop fighting amongst ourselves.

Genealogy / how many know their own family histories? [139]

You've no idea. 5 years of cost and effort and still counting!! The reward of learning about your family's history and even discovering "missing" cousins who you never knew existed....................priceless!

peter definately with ya on that one :)

its amazing all the family you discover and how many are unaware and once you
piece together everything, and bring up familiar things to them they start telling you
all about the family and how long they lived there etc....

definately priceless :)

My Grandmother is the only living relative that was actually born in Poland and the only documentation she has is her name in her father's passport when they emigrated.

Any hints on places to look would be awesome and greatly appreciated.

if you have the passport thats a big deal... whats the town name listed on the passport? whats the last name ( surname) your researching?

USA, Canada / Raising children in the US [25]

there are less teen pregnencies in Europe.

trust me they get the sex education.. and told all about the risks and this started
in 5th grade 10 years. they seen how babies were made, what can happen the
whole nine yards..

my daughter stays home, but there were some of her friends that lied to their
parents and there was sex parties. I found this out thru a friend at work.. my
girls stay home, even if they were invited, I would go then to see whats going on
and if the parents are home to a party.. cause some just dont think that their
kids will do this.. I tell mine, trust is something you earn.. dont screw it up.

Life / WHY POLISH PEOPLE DON'T USE THEIR NATIVE FIRST NAME WHEN ABROAD? [136]

It's not too difficult to pronounce so...
ARE YOU ASHAMED OF YOUR POLISH NAMES? WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE? ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE IT SOUND MORE... MORE CIVILIZED?

no, actually these are the Americanized versions.. or english versions.. and so
for you to actually pronounce them they have to say them in english so your
brain can actually process the vowels!!! if you have a brain.. usually people with
brains can process things and not ask questions like these so please let us know
if there is anything we can do to help you along..

USA, Canada / Raising children in the US [25]

I don't know of any who'd allow their kids to address them by name, I just heard that it happens in some families... I would have to agree then - not a good idea.

yeah, I agree with the name thing.. but you have to sit and talk with them.. god
I cringe at some of the things I hear my daughter say.. some of her friends are
pregnant.. I have to talk to her and try to be understanding, so many kids are
getting pregnant.. its hard.. no one knows till they wear them shoes!!

What happened to just being a parent? NOT their friend!!!

kids now a days live so much different world then when we were kids. and back
when we were kids parents didnt really care to much about what we were doing
and lots of kids lives were lost that way.. its really how you feel as a parent and
how you want to raise your child.. there is no special book out there that teaches
us how to parent.. or how to raise your kids.. even children from broken homes
or from high society choose what they want to do after a certain age, and if you
tell them they cant do it.. well then they go behind your back and pretty soon your
attending a funeral...

each generation is different, each new era, so bringing up a child, you just have to
do your best and hope they sway in the right direction with the help of your
parenting skills and direction and lotsa love and if in some familys that means being
a friend then thats their choice.

why let such a small issue with other children bother you so much? or are you trying
to be just like your parents and rule with the iron fist and pretty soon your children
only want to see you occasionally and dont want bring the grandchildren because
you might rule with the iron fist with their children and they wont like that or
feel its unacceptable... gotta be your own parent.

The Poles prefer animals such as doge because they are obedient and do what they must to be fed, it is a sort of power thing with the Poles.

Michal. do you really read or re-read what you write?

come on now.. its getting really boring... do you talk just to hear yourself?

least post something that makes sense.. cause it appears as though you just
type to get a word in, and know nothing about people!!

You can be nice to a Pole and help him out but if you have something they want-beware!

in every country this holds true, you just love to knock the polish any time you get
a chance, do you actually think that no where else in the world people could behave
this way?? and you call yourself a teacher??

again I stand by my allegations that your skills were bought from a cracker jack box!

Law / Rules for exporting bikes from Poland? [13]

I often "ask" him, are you a dog or a chicken? He surely is not a dog for protection....He is a pet.

well, certain "times" a dog will sense fear. or be territorial to which this could have
something to do with the stalk mode. or sensing danger.

you need to get a hold of the dog whisperer for your friend :)) LOL

dogs shouldnt be that scared!

Try to make friends and learn from the locals how they run a farm .
Wish you the very best of luck !

gosia he wants to know how to stop the stealing. he no longer owns the tools
he had to fix his place, and his other personal luxeries are also gone. to which I
agree. the first person to enter my home and steal better have health insurance!

is there someone he can talk with in the local police station that can help him
to retrieve his tools back? what is the process for this in Poland?

my thoughts would be get the local priest to help. if anything he has more power
to get people moving then anyone!

Law / Rules for exporting bikes from Poland? [13]

my dog is more then pet, he protects his mamma!

one time someone was trying to look into my house, and he stalked them
I didnt see them , but his hair on his back was standing high and thick, he was
in attack mode, and if the window wasnt the thick glass I swear he would have
went thru it at this guy.. I had to call him back and calm him..

If the police won't do anything it seems hopeless. Maybe some sort of security system might work, even if you have to create a secret compartment to hide your smaller valuables when you go out. Seriously.

my brother put bars on his garage windows and security door, he has some
really expensive car parts in his garage, so in order to keep the vandals out
he used ( listen to this) our old railings from the front porch, my dad had new
one put on, so he recycled the old railings and used them as security bars...

they work and they look like they belong there :)

and i don,t complain about that,,, just need some help please....Jan..

jan, it appeared as though you were,

going 10 days without food? come on, what would you expect. maybe you should have
proof read before posting. if thats not what you meant.

like I said, we understand that people shouldnt steal, but if you cant afford
to eat, how can you afford anything else? securing a home takes money.

its wrong for people to steal and assume that you are rich, but it happens even
to the poor .
not one bit of its right, you could get a electric fence like they do to keep in the
farm animals in, you can keep the sticky fingers out. they wont like shock. but
you have to probably pay out some decent money. or get some really big german
shepards. like i said, make sure you feed them or they will turn on you. especially
such a smart dog as them.

hes not is right!! lol

I am fine, I am not smoking anymore :) yeahhhhhh :)

I had bad infection ( tooth) and that was scarey.

it hit all at once, theres such a thing as sepsis, which I thought was happening
to me, I felt like crawling out of my skin thats how sick I became. dont ever let
a tooth go ever.. I put mine off because of my daughters surgery thinking
I would be ok, but thats not true at all..

I fought long and hard before i put this ringing monster in my purse. I tend to ignore it most of the time anyway....

well he wants sympathy for buying something he couldnt afford.. yet live the good
life or pretend to yet hes starving.. I bet his mom still feeds him. or he raids her
fridge weekly.. people just dont go without eating that long. especially men..

now I will get a lashing for that one :)) LOL

A simple question: If he can afford "things", which are not necessities, why can he not afford a single necessity as FOOD

agree... that being the most important in order to keep health and well being so
that you can wake up to go to work and make that money that you so desperately
need!

Do they have security bars in Poland? You know, the ones they put on doors and windows so no one can get inside the house.

if he cant eat how the heck is he gonna be able to pay for security bars?

just a thought..

Life / My neighbours in Poland are stealing all my things [180]

the longest was ten days , no eating....

why the heck are you buying old farms and you own cameras, harleys and
mobile phones and you go without eating because of all these material things?

it sounds to me like you jumped into the frying pan too soon. I agree people
shouldnt take, steal, but at the same time I dont feel sorry for you when you
are burying yourself into a hole by living like you are rich yet your sacrificing
your health in return for all these stupid material things to which you cant take
with you to heaven when you die and you werent born with them so why are you
even making such a fuss over them in the first place?

you willing to make your body sick by not eating for 10 days or less because you
bought a farm you couldnt really afford at this point. and you havent even sold
the other place.

another option is, get rid of the gagets and buy a dog that will protect your
home.. but make sure you feed him or he will have your arse for dinner.
thats my advice.
