Food / Need Florentynki recipe [6]

It's a desert/snack. It's similar to butter taffy with slivers of almond (or whatever nut made with). It's made in little discs.

One website describes theirs as:

orginalne ciastka z zapiekanych migdałów w karmelu z daktylami

Hope that helps :)

Here is a picture I took in Poznan. Hope you can see:

Food / wiejska sausage - do you cook it / peel it? [22]

You can grill Kabanosy :) Some prefer not to because of it's dryness, but you can grill it. Some people marinate it then grill it.

Do you find it unusual that a foreigner isn't familiar?

News / Polish medal to Ronald Reagan [18]

George HW Bush had him shot

What? Are saying that Hinckley was hired by Bush?

Is there proof? 1st time I've heard of this.

Travel / Baltic coast in September [14]

Have you found a resort to stay in? A lot of them have Spa's so I'd check with them. I think there is a spa called Eden in Sarbinowo. Good luck.

Law / Importing Alcohol Into Poland - any limits? [15]

I wouldn't want to get thrown in jail for this...

I doubt that would happen. I just put them in my check in luggage and never saw it until after I went through customs in poznan. I wouldn't worry so much, just don't bring the liquor store ;)

USA, Canada / Polish Jewelry / Shopping in NYC? [12]

Yes. You can tear a small corner of notebook paper the size of this () and rub the Amber ona cotton shirt ( to cause friction) if it picks up the paper it's real. Glass will not pick it up :) Hope that helps.

Law / Importing Alcohol Into Poland - any limits? [15]

fine Canadian spirits

Do those exist? ;)

I was able to bring 2 bottles of liquor and 2 wines and a few bottles of beer. No issues, but you never know who will be having a bad day :) I'd just call customs or look online.

Mielno is too crowded. Maybe not in Sept, but during the summer it's too crazy. Chlopy or Sarbinowo may be better choices if you run into the crowds.

Travel / The Wieliczka Salt Mine in Poland [14]

The "Wieliczka" salt mine is considered to be the oldest working salt mine in Europe

Place is amazing. I've never seen anything like that anywhere. It's definitely worth a visit.

I will bet money that the US government contrinbutes in one way or another.

I hear that there's looting going on. Are these people looting for food or crime? Is it that bad? Like Katrina/ new orleans scale?

USA, Canada / How can a polish person get usa work visa? [15]

If she's a student, then a tourist visa would be a better suggestion. IMO. In order to get a job she'll need at least a masters degree.

its like the american gov. is blind.... why cant they send some money or food or anything? anyone want p. bush himself to fly over there? seriously people need help but no... the americans are to busy in iraq.... why are they still there?

What about Ireland, Scotland and Whales....Canada perhaps ;)? Are they assisting like they should be?Why should it be the US's responsibility when we have our own issues to handle. Besides, we can't even assist our own people in the time of need.

As B woo said.... they aren't a third world country.

Who knows why we're still in Iraq.... :/ I think we're planning a world domination ;)
