History / Significance of May 3rd in Poland [21]

Can you elaborate on this ?

Szlachta golota (without land) lost election rights and they consisted quite large part of 10% that you mentioned before.

huh? how is that? it's an almost exact copy of the USA one.

The largest paragraph is about king, does the US had king? :) Simply read it, this is short document. There were some common ideas in both documents but this was not exact copy for sure. Both constitutions were short and everybody with half of the brain could read and understand everything. (This is not the case in the EU)

Also don't confuse extension of personal freedoms with extension of democracy. In this case democracy was reduced and personal freedom extended.

But, I insist that `schlachta` wasn`t `degenerated`.

Some were, some were not, read about "szlachta golota".

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

Against Germany,Austria,Italy,Hungary,Finland,Croatia,Romania,Bulgaria. And Japan at the end.

If so, they can pay compensation to Polish citizens robbed by Soviet policy.

Do you think polish government intentionally justifies UPA's crimes shifting all the blame to Russia for political reason(s)?

They are not shifting blame for Russia. They simply never raise the question of UPA crimes and often raise the question of Soviet crimes. Also this is not exactly the government fully responsible but some influential media outlets.

Those people that I mentioned are former Trotskytes turned to euro-socialism. Although these days their political representation is marginal (PD party) but they still control large part of media outlets (Agora media group). While every party that wants to achieve something in democracy must try to live in peace with greater part of journalists. Thus Polish governments are often pushed by those people toward such policy. They will never stop to attack Russia till your country wont become euro-socialist. There is no nationalism behind their motivation at all.

History / Significance of May 3rd in Poland [21]

The new constitution should have strengthened the position of the king, townsfolk and bourgeoisie.

Thus amount of people having influence on state policy shrank. Constitution was not only not democratic but went in opposite direction, however it was too late to save the country...

I noticed that many Poles insist to underline that old "nobles democracy" was backwarded/degenerated.

I cannot find any arguments which would justify supposed "backwardness". However it was degenerated indeed, liberum veto practically blocked possibility of necessary reforms. While foreign agents could easily bribe just one MP to block some initiatives which could make the commonwealth stronger.

So obviously, from a very narrow pragmatic point of view the 1791 Constitution was a nail to the coffin of the independent Poland.
The medieval czarist system could hardly accept a modern democratic constitution in its "sphere of influence".

Actually this constitution moved away from so called "nobles democracy" to monarchy!

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

there should be a good mechanism to fight against corruption

OK, I understand your point. Just in this one case I would like to point out that there is no such reasonable "mechanism". If you want reduce corruption you must reduce state interventionism and what follow bureaucracy. Other way does not exist and as you can imagine politicians are not willing to reduce its own competences.

History / 1 Maja - Pochód, Labour Day in Old Poland [28]

Still spreading this nonsense in XXI century? How many times socialism must collapse and cause miseries?

It should be a day of unity of working man, a day of unity.

Socialists are known from causing divisions and antipathy among society. There is no unity of working man, the is no unity of "evil capitalists", this is false and treacherous demagogy which provoke only social tensions.

So there is no common stance and those who openly admit to be leftist are not keen at all to touch this topic.

Russia should pay, also to its own citizens.

Life / How to deal with rude rich Polish people? [65]

Quality is important, counting pages is childish.

UK, Ireland / Polish students are rising to the top of the class [30]

the excellence of the Polish education system IS rooted in the communist era and IS now starting to see a decline (like all over Europe).

This is too much to say that the communist started this process. However they kept high level of education in many areas. This just sad that high level of math could coexist with retarded communist vision of economics.

Yes,exactly because teachers and proffessors are now pressed by middle class to lower expectations of academic performance,to substantially lower criteria for admission process to university etc and most of them comply in order to keep their jobs.

I think that this is rather politicians try to appease to the people in this area. They don't care about public pressure if this would cost them much of effort.

History / 1 Maja - Pochód, Labour Day in Old Poland [28]

The Left organizing some parades but nearly nobody attend. Generally very few people celebrate this occasion, for majority this is simply a free day. It would be good if this free day would be replaced for some other holiday.

History / Poland-Russia: never-ending story? [1341]

Millions of Russians left to rot in camps or ousted (the "kulaks")? My family suffered from communists as well but my view on that is like let bygones be bygones. We actully even have a law which allow you to get compensation for bygone crimes (I'm not sure if it works though).

This is true but still Russia is the political heir of the SU. Similarly current Polish state is the political heir of People's Republic of Poland and must pay debts from this period.

In Poland influential groups enforce policy I would call "Forgive the Germans, don't mention about Ukrainians and attack Russian government". This is linked with future shape of Europe that those people would wish to see. While Russian government additionally causing many reasons to give them opportunity to such attacks and using skillfully such situation in domestic policy in Russia.

Hope my People will be sensible enough to replace our current regime in the nearest future.

May I ask what you would want to see instead of the current regime?

The key word is american. In Europe there is no such affirmative policy and if sb wants to start it,it will be ridiculous to protect native inhabitants of the country against minorities because it is against the scope of affirmative policy.

I would not be surprised at all if someday they would establish such laws. Anti-discrimination laws are on rise in Europe and this is dangerous tendency.

Interesting example of protection of "Europeans" is economic protectionism. Officially it is not against anybody but to help our own people. In this case minorities are not targeted but people in other countries obviously are. European Community use this even inside its own borders. For example Poland cannot export more milk than bureaucrats from Brussels allow, job market of many member states is still denied to Polish citizens, Polish peasants receive smaller donation than those from the west.

Poland needs more blacks, asians

You are racist because you think that Poland need more people of non-white races only because they are non-white. You look at the world from the racial perspective.

News / Peres: Poland one of Israel's greatest EU allies [30]

I know very well that most poles don't think this way. Fortunately the government doesn't have the same medieval mentality.

Actually during medieval period plenty of Jews settled in Polish kingdom. Not without reason I suppose.

UK, Ireland / Polish students are rising to the top of the class [30]

This is not a secret that during communist period the level of education in Polish schools was higher. All in all we are going down and soon we will reach the EU level (fact which for sure would make happy the champions of EUropeiness in this country).

News / Wojtek Cejrowski gives up his Polish citizenship! [19]

So life in Ecudaor is better than the EU? Why don't you move there than?

I don't exclude such possibility in the future. The big difference between myself on Cejrowski is that he already overcame cultural differences, speak Spanish fluently and have enough of cash to start some serious business over there.

I don't claim to be a specialist from Ecuadorian affairs, however I think that this country is on other stage of development. But this might be true that they offer way better conditions than socialist Europe for people with initiative to start some business.

EUCCP? Wow, I don't even know what to say.

I suppose that you simply know very little, if not then go to proper threads in political section and try to overthrow arguments that I raised. I'm always open for a serious discussion on these matters which contain certain problems rather than empty slogans.

Life / Are Polish People Racist? [1037]

I see a great future in your relationship with in-laws. :)

They are all worth each other :))

My mom is the head of a nurses union with a Ba degree and experience managing budgets in the 10s of millions. My GFs mom cleans toilets for a living! WTF is wrong with these people?

On other side, her mother job is at least useful from the perspective of development of the society. Your mother job otherwise.

News / Wojtek Cejrowski gives up his Polish citizenship! [19]

Cejrowski is OK and we need more people like him. This is sad how unattractive Poland (and Europe) is for people who has some clue.

Btw, Cejrowski a fascist?? If you had any idea about political systems then you would know that Cejrowski views classify him somewhere close to opposite pole to fascism!

News / EU a beacon of light for the World to follow [85]

Bureaucracy must be drastically reduced, the EU should be back just to the common market idea from the beginning, Schengen zone should be expanded to whole Europe. Countries and Poland in particular should go towards regionalism and not all-European centralization as I stated earlier in this thread. I could recommend few books if you would be really interested.
