Life / Openly gay in Poland [245]

I would rather stay on the topic of how the bashing of gays is not what causes them to go out of their way at every possible opportunity to make it quite bloody obvious that they are gay.

So instead of the police going to the scene and arrest the gay-bashers, homosexuals should just adhere to the wishes of gay-bashers in order not to be beaten up? I don't grasp this concept. Elighten again, pls.

Isn't that the same as saying that when a girl gets raped, she just should not have worn that mini-skirt?

They really said that. Well, a comment on the statements was that societies who have representatives like this are in fact Medieval and should not have joined the EU at all. But that is NOT my opinion, to make sure nobody attacks me on this :)

my opinions are where education is constant better than yours,

So, you base your opinions on a better education? This made me in turn chuckle. While I have no objection against a certain dissent against homosexuals as such by contingents of society which do not happen to be gay or otherwise "different" from what is generally tolerated by the majority of the ppls, it just strikes me as funny that, even though well-spoken the level of thinking is merely one step above the gay-basher.

It is normal to have an adversion against alternate opinions than your own, however, I think that a good education in the field of homosexuality begins with acceptance of the phaenomenon. It is also normal that homosexuality meets with more or less resistance, differing per country, depending on the advancement of a society, as ppl always will have trouble with accepting/tolerating anything that is outside their pattern of thinking. Or what has been told to them is bad or whatever. This is normal and it is up to the government of respective countries to do something about this.

Governments are there to lead a country forth, and one aspect of this is transmitting tolerance and peace among their ppl. However, and I grant that these are incidents, but incidents on an official level, which raises fear for the un-official level, like the remarks of the former polish prime minister (or president, you can't tell the difference with these twins, but it was the same one who did those weird comments about Germany on an EU conference) about homosexuals and more specifically Anna Zaborska with her very strange (but in religious circles not unfamiliar) remark that AIDS and HIV are punishments of God for the Homosexuals. These are not really good examples on how to educate a ppl on the matter. I repeat, two incidents which make fears for what is happening on the un-official level.

Oh, come on - you don't really believe that crap, do you?

I would say the bashing of gays is a means or repression and terror. You see this differently? Enlighten me.

So I hear, and have never denied. I only find it unfortunate that it also constitutes all the homosexuals I've ever had the displeasure of being acquainted with.

Ah, it's personal :) In Holland we say 10 bad apples spoil it for 10.000 good apples. I have plenty of gay acquaintances and none of them are obnoxiously gay. Maybe at their home in private, but that is their business. None of them has ever tried to make a pass on me and has never acted over "woman-like", except just for fun. And yes, even though I am not a gay myself, I sometimes went with them to a gay-bar. Just because they always went with me to straight-clubs, I thought it would not be anything but normal I'd join them there. Although some tried, but they stayed away after I made them clear that I am not a gay. I wonder if girls have the same experience when they tell a drunk moron to stay away from them?

That one gave me a good chuckle. It helped that I misread it at first to read 'main-stream', which although meaning the same thing, somehow still made it even funnier

I can take (and laugh about) jokes a foreigner makes about my home-country. Can you?

is it gay to watch will & grace?

Oh yes my dear, terribly :)

Life / Openly gay in Poland [245]

And then you proceed with talking about how you know gays who are Polish

- I stand corrected on this point. I should've stated "...any NON-Gay Polish". Point granted.

Behind indeed... which could be seen as a bad thing by those who actually believe the mentality of the rest of Europe is progressing.

That's what I don't like about Polish: they ALWAYS think their opinion and mentality is the best, just because they don't agree to other mentalities. I personally think it's not of this time and age to still reject homosexuality as not being part of society, a sickness or whatever. I think that is a retard view on things and this opinion should be abolished as soon as pssbl. But that is just my opinion.

'obnoxiously gay'

And what would 'obnoxiously straight' be then? Something like: hey, you know what, I'm a man and I am going to f*ck as many women as I can tonight! Hey baby! You feel like f*cking tonight? Something like that?

The group you are referring to is only a very small part of the population and its mere existance is only due to the amount of repression they experience within a society.

M-G (21st century views - yes, Europe is progressing and Poland would be smart to join in the stream of ppls)

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

Get your facts right most Poles don't like the foreign invasion full stop

And you wonder why sometimes inhabitants from OTHER countries don't like the Polish invasion - full questionmark ? Or is the Western world obliged to the poor Polish to allow and let nearly millions of Poles invade? Is that any different? Poland HAS to accept the foreign invasion, wether they like it or not. And I suggest they start liking it as it will become bigger and bigger. Just like other countries had to like the invasion of Poles from the day they entered the EU.

M-G (just a neutral comment, not a personal one. According to MG, nearly all Poles can stay minus 4 or 5 *ssholes)

Life / Openly gay in Poland [245]

Poles are civilized people and most are open to gays

I have never met a Polish person who was open to gays... Don't forget that Polish mentality is a bit behind the rest of Europe. You can call this "traditional" or you can call it "retard", up to you.

Gays are generally not accepted in Poland - I have many (Polish and non-Polish) gay friends and the Polish ones tell me horror stories from back home. This even goes so far that their own parents don't accept it. Or that they cannot tell their parents as those parents for sure would kick them out. Strange, that your kid suddenly is not your kid anymore because he/she is gay.

Life / How do Poles feel about non whites/non Slavs living in Poland? [150]

Slavic, not white

Define "White".

Did you know that Arabs, Jews, Iranians, Afghani, Pakistani, Indians and ppl from Bangladesh, Turkmen and the rest are all defined as being part of the "white" or "Caucasian race"?

Life / How do Poles feel about non whites/non Slavs living in Poland? [150]

"Eastern European"

Yeah, that is funny. My g/f (or ex-, don't know anymore) actually stated that Poland was part of Western Europe :)
They may have been the most Western country of the Warsaw-Pact, but they are still a Central European country at it's most Western. I don't think it's racist if somebody calls me a Western European, because that is what I am. So why would it be racist if I call somebody who is obviously from a country to the East of mine and I don't know which, "Eastern European"? Or Central European, for that matter.

M-G (nah, why are Poles always so touchy?)

Sorry, Poland is as about as white as it gets.

And unfortunately that is a good heap of racism too. Not always outspoken, but surely suggested. At least, by lots of Polish that I know.

Life / How do Poles feel about non whites/non Slavs living in Poland? [150]

How do Poles feel about non whites/non Slavs living in Poland? This includes the ones that are just imported with an IQ of 77

Good question. Does it imply that, after flooding Western Europe, they will not accept that they too are getting their share of what is called the global village? Would be a bit selfish and weird, eh?

And: all countries were built by their inhabitants, be it natives or immigrants. No excuse for not accepting the fact that there will be immigrants.

yeah, czanobog cut your crap. if you have complexes because your wife is coloured and muslim its your fuckin problem. go and cure your complexes elsewhere. I'm really glad that in my own country when i'm going out i dont need to see all these dark muslim faces looking at me as if i were the intruder and the enemy.

What about if you lived about 30 years ago in the Soviet Union as a homosexual transvestite Jewish negro and you and your homosexual transvestite white Arab boyfriend had a little Korean adoptive babyboy?

M-G (immigration is a very good thing. Clears the blood of too much inbred and brings in unexpected cultural diversity which is terribly needed, especially in that part of the world)

Travel / What Things Are There To Do in Poland For Teens [8]

What's there to do in Poland for teens and stuff like me?

I think pretty much the same thing as in any other country? Why should this be different in Poland? You go to school, get a crush on some girl, get heartbroken, get drunk for the first time, get laid for the first time. Or: get weird looking friend, dress up all in black and listen to bands with singers that are all mad at their dads, sit in the corner gazing at your shoes and moving your head slowly to the music. Or you go join a sportsclub, train a few times per week, discover that you're not talented enough to make it as a pro and just do it for fun. In short, the options are plenty.

Love / Poking tongue out at a Polish girl - is it considered rude/offensive? [37]

Poking your tongue out and saying nanana is universally regarded as childish and slightly retarded :) So, I don't see the point of the asker: why do many (especially the British and Irish) consider Polish ppl like from another planet? Is it some form of hidden racism (like for example saying about black ppl: hey, they look after their children too!) under cover of interest; one doesn't really like them or is prejudiced against them and tries to mask it by asking ridiculous questions like if poking a tongue out to a girl is rude. YES OF COURSE IT IS RUDE! It's also childish. When, lord, when, do ppl stop asking stupid questions like this...and take everybody for what they really are: humans. With all their faults and good things.

UK, Ireland / Gang attack Polish man with knife [87]

Question: I know this is a Polish forum about anything Polish, but I really don't think this thread has any relevance. Why? Because there are many ppl everyday every where in the world being attacked by deranged individuals. Maybe the reasons were racist, but I don't think that the fact that the victim is of Polish descent should be highlighted as racism is not solely aimed at Polish ppl, but generally at any person not local or native. I would rather state that it's a MAN who got attacked by a gang of losers, a person just minding his own business and then gets attacked. A while ago I myself was victim of an attempted robbery at knifepoint. However I was able to kick the guy's a*s and he ran. The fact that I am not native Irish is not relevant in this case. I do not claim now that Irish have a severe hatred towards Dutch or any other non-Irish nationality. Basically it's an incident and incidents like this happen all over the world at any given time. The fact is sad and disgusting, I agree to that, but I do not think that an incident as this should be highlighted this much. The persons who committed the attack are deranged souls and they would have attacked any other non-British just happening to be there. Just like the murder of the two Polish guys here in Dublin some time ago. If it were Irish guys who got stabbed after refusing to get the perpetrators alcohol, it would not have been such a big deal. But now that it were Poles, everybody is crying about racism and the like. Like this incident, these guys were just at the wrong time at the wrong place. This doesn't make it right, I know, but I just want to state that I think that it has nothing to do with nationalities as such, but just a person or persons happening to be at the wrong time at the wrong place.

News / Polish myths. Poland is one of the countries that count in the world. [49]

Germany (a country that started/lost II World Wars

I don't want to be nagging or something, but the First World War was not started by Germany, but by Austria-Hungary and actually all the European participants except Belgium and Luxembourg were to blame for it's coming to be.

(Alphabetical)
Austria-Hungary: simply wanted to show their muscles in revenge against small Serbia where it did not have any muscles.
Bulgaria: simply wanted revenge for the lost Second Balkans War and felt betrayed by it's fellow Slavic countries
France: had been stirring up things in Europe ever since the lost Napoleontic wars and European politics (Metternich and the Concert of Europe) were aimed at preventing France from ever developing Napoleontic dreams again. Furthermore they sought revenge for the lost Franco-Prussian war.

Germany: had the bad luck to be suddenly in 1871 the biggest and strongest country in Western and Central Europe. This made them naturally look suspicious in the eyes of the British (although they were mainly concerned about their naval presence). It also had the bad luck that Kaiser William 2 came to power in 1888. It's attitude towards Austria's politics was ambivalent: at first it encouraged Austria and, after seeing the Serb answer to the ultimatum of 25 July 1914 declared that there was no reason for war.

Great Britain: Could have made its intentions clear in the early days of the July-crisis, but didn't. Didn't care about Belgium, it was only the idea of Belgian harbours (and of course as the Dutch were pro-German in those days) the Dutch ports in German hands right before their nose. In fact, Britain could have stopped all of it if King George would have pressurized William 2 to stop Austria. But he did not. Also, British-German relations were easing up considerably in the early months of 1914.

Italy: played along for Southern Tyrolia. The Italian decision not to adhere to previous promises of joining Austria and Germany, but instead to join the allies was solely taken by one man, it's prime minister. In the Alps the Italians have never been able to win from the Austrians.

Russia: perhaps the biggest perpetrator. Seeking more influence to the West and a change to take revenge on Austria for the 1878 war. Nicolas could have stopped Russian involvement, but he was too weak to stop his generals and he was generally not liked by his ppl. It was the Russian mobilisation that set things in motion for WW1, what would have been normally a local Balkans-conflict.

Serbia: had been festering the atmosphere in Europe for over a decade at the time, all in search of their dream: the Pan-Slavic state. Politician had few sympathies for the Serbs, they were called King-killers as they killed their own king and the crown prince of Austria. While it had been messing around with its Slavic neighbours for a few years at the time, it now was messing with the wrong guy.

I leave Turkey out of this as the war against the Ottoman Empire has the mess we have in the Middle East nowadays as a consequense. Also, I leave Poland out of this as Poland at the time was not a country de facto: split by three other countries, it was not on the map at the time.

Life / Few questions about Poland / social securit, health-insurance, liability [2]

1. How is the Social Security arranged in Poland?

2. Is there a health-insurance?

3. If I go to the doctor, do I have to pay at the door?

4. What about liability? (is it easy to sue somebody in Poland?)

Just curious...I want to know everything about Poland and anything Polish, and I have not seen the above topics pass by yet...Maybe I missed a few, but nevertheless, I am just curious :)

Love / DOES HE OR DOESN'T HE have feelings for her?? [19]

One of my exes once pulled that stunt on me: one day as I was travelling to the US, I found such a little card with I love you and have a safe trip in my wallet while ordering a beer on the plane. That was six years ago, I kept it in my wallet for a long time after we broke up, simply because it was a nice card and it brought back fond memories as it was a lovely trip.

Love / My polish girlfriend has changed following death of dad.. [153]

There is no set time for grieve to end. It takes some ppl a lifetime to get over the loss of somebody dear. Just be patient with her, be there when she needs you and give her the space she needs. Just act like a good friend and in time everything will be ok. If you instead act like a little child and push her, you will most likely lose her forever. Just act like a good friend, it's the only thing you can do at the moment.
