Love / I'm pregnant by my Polish boyfriend but he wants me to abort it! [132]

She is only 8 weeks, it's a fetus, not a baby, she is also probably very confused and ever so slightly hormonal - most of the comments on here are not very helpful.

As to those who say the state takes care of single mothers, you are reading too many news papers and obviously don't completely understand the benefits system in the UK - because the vast majority of single mothers live well below the poverty line, single working mothers do get more assistance, but you have to take in to consideration child care costs.

To the men who are saying "I wouldn't have an abortion" blah blah blah, be thankful you will never have the burden of this unenviable decision.

History / Where did the stereotype of Polish people being stupid come from? [131]

Apparently it's also an English thing. Or maybe British? I'm really not sure, either way, it's ingrained in our culture.

Ive never come across it in this country...maybe heard the odd "blood poles" but never "bloody pollacks".... ;0)

UK, Ireland / Poles flee N. Irleand homes after World Cup riots [70]

They ought to feel ashamed for ruining the lives of their countrymen.

Come on Sheep, like these idiots care...they probably had a laugh over a cold piwo when they heard the news! Just like our idiots would....

Probably the Irish were surprised because they were beaten by Poles in their own country.

These Poles didn't start on Irish hoolies, they picked on old and weak...hmmmm, that was brave!

Of course slavic logic is different

Dont we just know it, kind of explains a few things really.

UK, Ireland / FIVE DIE AS POLE DRIVES WRONG WAY ON UK MOTORWAY [78]

I also understand the people who angrily call the driver an idiot.

He must have known he was on a motorway, since the speed he was travelling was in excess of 70, the cars were BOTH unrecognisable, so the fact he did a U turn and headed on to the other side of the motorway, is not out of confussion but out of stupidity, our motorways, just like your highways are pretty easy to navigate.

Calicoe, look at these cars:

History / Where did the stereotype of Polish people being stupid come from? [131]

hmmm, but I would argue that today's jokes have a history behind them, both in England's history and the "Pollack" slurs. And there was nothing benign about the German history and Slavs:

We dont slag off the Poles and we don't call them Pollacks, that's an American thing.

"Developments in the early 20th Century added new dimensions to German notions of superiority over the Slavs.

The Germans thought they were superior to everyone, they us Island Monkeys :) Does it bother me? Not in the slightest ;0)

living in public toilets, eating swans and ******* vacum cleaners what are these crazy poles goin to do next

Drive down motorways the wrong way or **** on live railway lines? Hmmm, did someone say that Poles are a bit stupid, where the hell did they get that notion from ;0)

Love / Polish and NON-polish... Clueless and Religious [13]

I did go to a catholic school

Then you must be catholic, since I don't know of any catholic school (in the UK) who would admit a none catholic or maybe they are more lax in Aus.

And you are planning to marry and start a family of your own, so it was a positive in the end and Im sure that your mum doesn't regret having you. No one situation is the same and to simply say "get an abortion" is wrong if you have never been in the situation this girl is in.

Abort.

Dont bring unwanted children into the world.

You dont want to carry the memory of this guy with you forever.

Nice rounded view. I do hope you never find yourself in the girls situation.

give birth. dont let any motherfcuker to kill your baby and ruin your life.

Pitty all Polish men don't share your view, isn't easy to make judgements and offer advice when one isn't part of the problem.

Love / Polish and NON-polish... Clueless and Religious [13]

I wouldn't advise anyone to change or take on a religion for the sake of someone else, religion is a personal choice and not something to be taken lightly.

In Poland its expected that you pull onto the hard shoulder in order to let a faster vehicle overtake you on a narrow road where the sign says..no overtaking...

In England it's expected that you leave the hard shoulder clear for emergencies and these idiots should learn the rules of driving in this country before they get on the roads!

History / Where did the stereotype of Polish people being stupid come from? [131]

Oh come on, stop picking on Butty, it's natural that neighbouring countries will have negative (slightly offensive / amusing) stereotypes...Blimey, we have the Englishman, Irishman and Scotman jokes...Englishman is always a bit pompus (pompus), Irishman always a bit thick (maybe slightly nieve) and Scotsman always a bit stingey (careful)...They are only jokes, nothing more...

Try to tell a joke in the face of a Russian and you will not wait some seconds before the punch comes.

But don't all jokes have "punch" line ;0)

Polish women seem to be more flirtatious than anyone.

Are you trying to say English women are not flirtatious?

Love / I'm pregnant by my Polish boyfriend but he wants me to abort it! [132]

You have two options, both of which i'm sure you have considered:

1. have the baby, be a single mother and have no support from him or contact off him, as difficult as it sounds right now, you will be surprised at how much support you will receive from your family and your friends, as for finances, as long as you work you can claim family tax credits, im not going to go all anicdotal on you, but I have friends that have had husbands walk out on them and they've raised children and worked and done better than manage, so it is possible.

2. you can come to the UK have an abortion and try to forget about it, you may or may not regret your decision, that's the chance you take with an option that is irriversable.

If you are 2 months pregnant then you need to make your mind up pretty quick or you may not have option no.2

This is going to sound really harsh, but this man wants nothing to do this pregnancy, he has been clear about that, so don't expect anything from him if you decide to continue with the pregnancy, emotionally this could be very difficult for you, so you have to be sure that you could cope with your childs father not wanting to be a part of his / her life.

Good luck.

News / Dealing with constant insults against Polish [323]

well stome the crows they should have researched that one a bit better

The thought was there though, the Spitfire was British, just not the crew on that squad.

whilst there were quite a few squads, there were many more British and other Nationalities too that joined the RAF.

UK, Ireland / FIVE DIE AS POLE DRIVES WRONG WAY ON UK MOTORWAY [78]

How on earth was he reading the road?

Obviously he wasn't, maybe he thought he'd take his chances with it being early hours.. totally irrisponsible, I remember having a conversation with a Polish guy a while back and he thought it was completely acceptable to drive on the hard shoulder??? WTF! He was stuned when I told him it was illegal to drive on the hard shoulder and he would get in trouble for doing so, his response was "but it's just another lane"....This guy was a GP so he wasn't some stupid kid, the mind boggles!!!

UK, Ireland / FIVE DIE AS POLE DRIVES WRONG WAY ON UK MOTORWAY [78]

There were motorway works, this fuckwit of a driver did a u turn at temporary lights and went on the WRONG side of the motorway which was down to one lane, the other passengers didn't have a chance! To those banging on about about us driving on the wrong side of the road, it is not the WRONG side of the road in the UK, Im sure that the 1,000s of Brits that go to live in Spain manage to drive on the CORRECT side of the road.

RIP to all concerend.

UK, Ireland / Do I need a visa to enter Poland after I marry a Polish national? [4]

To come to the UK you will definately need a visa also from what I can gather you may still need visas to travel to countries within the zone because you are a none EEA national the fact you are married to one doesn't mean you can travel freely.

Congrats ;0)
