News / What do Polish friends think of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton? [226]

No worries, just extra proof that technology isn't flawless.

The Bank of England as good as controls the Federal Reserve, just thought I'd mention that.

London is a financial powerhouse in merchant banking circles, this is more for the NWO thread tho

The War on Terror is hogwash if u don't target the core of terrorism. This core will not be targetted for quite some time, if ever. There are still many areas of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border that are controlled by the Taliban due to the half-hearted efforts of the Pakistani security forces.

Saudi Arabia hasn't even been targeted. Judging by this, it should be or have been.

The War on Terror my right hand, a moral crusade by those who lack even the most basic of morals

News / East vs. West Poland: dividing voivodeships [7]

I don't agree with the Sląsk (Silesian) classification. I regard myself as being in the SW of Poland and I live in Silesia. Judging by ur map, it's in the centre if anything but most books classify Gliwice as being in the S of Poland, ever so slightly to the west.

It's only 85kms from Cieszyn which is a border town with the Czech Republic

UK, Ireland / hospitals in the uk [34]

Cleaning deadline, that has a very funny ring to it. It conjurs up an image of people holding guns and making sure the cleaning gets done

As I mentioned in another posting, they do clean in the fullest sense, in the way u r suggesting. They clean vomit, papers and all manner of other things. They clean wards, that's true, not the whole hospital

True enough. It's a common sense decision. U can lose money in so many ways these days so save it while u can. We all need a nest egg for a rainy day/black hour.

Precisely, compulsory competitive tendering (CCT) and general management were unmitigated disasters, ultra right-wing. Portillo was a major proponent of these schemes as was primus inter pares, Maggie. Health care professionals were taken aback by how inept these measures were.

Targets became the name of the game without enough individual assessment of cases. Not to mention the horrific waiting lists

I know the reality and u r right. My Dad is a nurse teacher and he is fully aware if the practical every day issues faced by nurses. Nurses do clean in the fullest sense of that word. I applaud the Herculean patience of nurses in the NHS but everyone has their limits.

Food / Polish food is making me fat [49]

Krokiety are not Polish in origin but many Poles eat them. Talk about a heart attack on a plate. Klopski are the real danger, chunky balls of less than premium meat, edible and more but brutal on the gut

British employers hire these people bcoz they are cheap, period!! Also, a certain percentage of the staff needs to be of foreign origin as they must ensure that discrimination is seen not to exist.

Nurses don't clean hospitals, exactly

Has there been any substantiated evidence that Poles are sending money back home? Other than Daily Mail sources I mean
