UK, Ireland / Scottish Festival to include Polish bands. [8]

lol - true. I was being overly optimistic there ;)

Although, I'm hoping they do recruit some Polish bands. I have friends in Kirkcudbright so I might head to the festival. I'll wait on a more confirmed line-up though...

Well, if they could encourage Polish bands to play there I'm sure it would entice some Polish people to attend. It's in July so you'd be hoping the weather would be nice... :S

I found this today. I think it's a great idea if they can make it work. Wickerman Festival.

The BBC said:
A bid is being made to give an alternative music festival in south west Scotland a Polish flavour.

Organisers of the Wickerman event near Kirkcudbright hope to reach out to the growing community in Dumfries and Galloway and further afield.

That includes incorporating bands from Poland in the line-up and producing publicity material for Polish speakers.

Love / Valentines messages ideas - English guys with Polish girls [55]

Rose are red
Violets are blue
I kissed your best mate
Now how about you?

Perhaps not...

A few weeks ago I met you
and I liked you from the start
The more often that I saw you
you began to fill my heart
We spent some time together
and a perfect couple we could be
because I think you are amazing
do you think the same of me?

Could try this but not in Polish?

Love / Polish attitudes to pregnacy outside marriage [7]

Polish "traditions" don't mean that every family in Poland adhere to them. Is her family even Catholic? It may well be that her parents have decided to support her in this situation so that her future is preserved.

Being a student is a matter of when you're ready, nothing to do with age, so if she wishes to bring up a child and then attend Uni in England she can do that even in ten years time.

Life / Websites for Polish hospitals/hospices [7]

Hey folks,

This might be a long shot. I'm looking for websites written in English, or with a link to switch to English, of hospitals or hospices anywhere in Poland.

PD :)

Life / Why are Polish people cheap? [126]

Yep - gone are the days people saved up for something they wanted. Now they get a credit card and just buy it, then something else and something else. Then they can't pay off the debt, so they get a loan from a company that'll take more money from them for paying off the credit card and then they now owe that company money. Meanwhile, there's something else they want...save up? No, get another credit card and it begins again.

Obviously not everyone lives like this but it's common. Rather be cheap than spend money I don't have.

Life / So whats your opinion on the Polish health care system? [17]

That's individual...I'm talking about the virus itself ;) Another thing about it is that it can creep up on you out of nowhere. As I said, no treatment but I have known people request anti-sickness injections while they've had it...best advice is take sips of water often and rest ;)

Anyway, C-Diff and Norovirus...problems with them in Poland? How are they dealt with?

C-Diff??? Is that the tummy bug killing all the old folks in UK wards?

Well, it doesn't just affect the elderly, anyone who is generally unhealthly is at risk. Read about it here C-Diff. It shouldn't be confused with Norovirus, which is a violent stomach bug but requires no treatment (unless the patient becomes dehydrated). Norovirus is usually over in 48 hours, in that time period, C-Diff is only beginning.

dtaylor, are there problems with C-Diff (Clostridium Difficile) and Norovirus in Poland currently? C-Diff is a huge problem here in the UK, yet less acknowledged than something like MRSA.

Roses are red
But some are pink
I've just seen your brother
Now I'm having another think

Roses are red
You can buy them by the dozen
I thought they were for me
But you'd bought them for your cousin

Roses are red
But they're also thorny
I thought you liked me
Turned out you were just horny

Law / Making proper sausages (ex-pat expers in Poland)? [32]

Never tried making them personally but I have seen them made and it "looks" easy...I googled "making sausages" there's a few websites about it that may help you out until someone who knows that they're doing turns up. Good luck with your venture :)
