Life / Polish art pictures [55]

I agree, talented young fellas.
Nothing like, up the top, down the back of the number 76 A, crudely carved in to the back of the bus seat "Deco waz ere" or "Sharons (heart) Shano" ha ha ha

Life / Polish art pictures [55]

There used to be another painting of the pope but it got painted over.
I doubt if this one will get painted over because as you can see from the photo, people are leaving flowers in front of it, showing they truly love it. (but they have changed many times, so I don't know).

This is quite a long wall, out side a school.
The story goes that kids were spray painting on it, so the head mistress of the school designated the wall to the art form. (pretty cool of her)

A lot of the work is just very well spray painted tags but i thought for the general public on here these pictures might be more appreciated.

News / The Polish-Hungarian friendship is as well as poisoned [45]

There is some connection between the two, having very good relationship, I am not sure exactly why?.
I met a load of Hungarians in Peru, they told me that their country really liked Poland, although they did not know why.

enthusiastic friends of the Nazis

Were they?.

e Hungarian neo-Nazis are not Jews but Gypsies.

Are they?.

And have you a link for that?.

UK, Ireland / England, Dirty, Expensive and a dangerous place to live? [205]

London's the best city in Europe..:)

i would agree, i like London a lot.
Yes it is dangerous and over priced and dirty but it's great!.
I don't want to live there but i like to drop in for the theatre and the museums, the Brits stole so much cultural historical artefacts, the museums are very impressive.

Love it or hate it, it is. And i like the cockneys, great bunch of people, who rightfully don't care about what the rest think, why would they?, they got their own stuff to deal with :)

When would be the best time, late summer ?

I saw them in June, south of Krakow in the Beskidy mountain range.

UK, Ireland / England, Dirty, Expensive and a dangerous place to live? [205]

Dirty? Well its cleaner since you got that new sewage system in your nations capital at the end of the 19 century.
Expensive?, that depends on if you can afford it.
Dangerous? I keep thinking of Jack the ripper, youz never did catch him.

Life / Price of beer in Poland [90]

Warka, (normal not strong), 4.50 PLN in the centre of Krakow, across from Galleria Krakowska.
It is a crappy student bar called Lochness but at 4.50 a half litre, who cares.
There is also another, slightly better bar around the back, again with Warka for 4.50.
It must be the Politechnika University students haunt.
I just drank there the once.

UK, Ireland / England, Dirty, Expensive and a dangerous place to live? [205]

Yes you are right.

These four words.

SeanBM:
these four words.

Sorry gramatical error its "those four words"

lexi:
Yes you are right.

These four words.

Not a grammatical error as far as I am aware?.
Then you go on to say

Sean please do not score cheap points!

And now i am asking you How is it that i am scoring cheap points?.

Of course, but Ireland has a very long history with England, do you want me to round it up to the nearest 100 years?

Of course, round off the last 100 years.

But anyone in a country which not their own is a foreigner...

By definition.

You know what I meant, you're a catholic aren't you?

No, I am an Atheist.

I was talking about England so anyone who is not English is of course a foreigner.

So Irish are not English so they are foreigners, no?.

Whatever Thomas!

Who told you my name? ha ha ha jeez, you pissed cause i called you out?.

Sean please do not score cheap points!

What are you talking about?, you said i was gramatically incorrect, I said i wasn't and hopefully showed why.
So how is that scoring cheap points?.

UK, Ireland / England, Dirty, Expensive and a dangerous place to live? [205]

Okay, then we must identify why england has become dirty, expensive and a dangerous palce to live. Why do you think this, if indeed you do and indeed it has?

Why do you Lexi ask niejestemcapita this question not the original poster?.
It is after all her words, her thread, her "country".

UK, Ireland / England, Dirty, Expensive and a dangerous place to live? [205]

England, Dirty, Expensive and a dangerous place to live?

Is this about the women? Are they that dangerous? ;)

I have lived in London, several times, great place, wouldn't want to live there if you know what I mean, if you know yourself and the way about others, your grand, just wake up one morning 60 years later wondering what happened, that's the reason.

I used to live in Hackney and cycle everyday to work in Brixton. It isn't that far.
I have a lot of good friends in Hackney, salt of the earth if you know them, if you don't well that is another story.

I think London is a different country to the rest of England.

I have spent some time in other parts of England, working.
I prefer London, people from the rest of England are different.
I even went to Manchester when i was about 12, on a school trip, the people were very friendly.

Not everywhere, for sure.
I have been to other places that hated "scum bag Paddies".
There were very few foreigners, like your self and all your problems were your own.
Or am i going off topic now? should I be witch hunting?.

Ok, back on topic, those bloody Irish and Spanish coming here, taking our women, taking our jobs!, it ain't right you hear! it ain't right!.

Or has it not struck anyone else that this farce of a thread is about the "foreigners" in England and that the two perpetrators are of "foreign" decent?.

Oh sorry, was this meant to be a natural progression on the fibre of "your" country being brought to it's knees by non-desirable non whites?.

I love where i live (south london),

I used to live in Greenwich, great place, full of people from far east Asia.

News / Does Poland count in Europe or is it ignored? [427]

You probably connoted the first meaning.

yes.

I was watching some T.V. from some "religious" channel from the U.S.A.

And they were talking about introducing some book about the holocaust in to schools (fine so far), she continued to say how she had even shown it to Polish children and they understood it. How they could change the world ....

And it really struck me about the very wrong word acosiation game, the "Polish concentration camps".

P.S. I really enjoy your threads about communism in Poland and the rise of solidarity, a well needed reality check in all this madness that is commonly known as PF.

But my favourite are your riddle threads :)

News / Does Poland count in Europe or is it ignored? [427]

I repeat: Nearly nobody cares about history here in Western Europe.

Nobody cares or they want to forget?.

Another scandal. An Irish paper, describing a visit of Irish youth to Auschwitz, used the term Polish concentration camps.

Before i wouldn't have thought about that at all, to be honest.
It was this forum that made me realise the implications of the words, "Polish concentration camp" and how completely wrong it was.

Shifting my paradigm, yet agian.

Life / The strangest things in Poland [468]

What did you find really strange? What really shocked or surprised you?

I was waiting at the side of the road, out side Angel City, a new apartment complex in Krakow today.
While a car was driving past me, it's exhaust fell on the ground and made a scrapping noise.
The car stopped at the traffic lights, in the furthest lane to the left, of three. (remember everyone drives on the right here).
So the passenger gets out of the car, to presumably check what has happened under the car.
He jumps out and standing there in the middle of the road, pulls down his pants/trousers till they're around his feet, stands up, gives himself a little cheer.

Then pulls up his trousers again, lies down on the ground to see what happened under the car.
Jumps up again, shrugs his shoulders and jumps in the car as it pulls off, ha ha ha
It made me laugh :)

UK, Ireland / What is it with black culture in the UK? [22]

What is it with black culture in the UK?

This is a silly thread.
Black culture = knife crime, murders and gang culture, does it?.

You might be talking about Gangster black types from dodgy places in the U.S.

I really don't care, this is a very stupid thread so it is bound, by definition, to be very popular.

Work / Move to Warsaw and will teach English (advice needed) [23]

Dia guit Nando,

I'm a Dubliner, living near Krakow but i am not an English teacher. I used to be, though.

The summer holidays are upon us and Krakow is a student town.
Your best bet for finding a job is at the beginning of the academic year around the end of September, but come a month or so before that to be able to get a flat, as the students usually take everything.

Keep in touch.
