News / Poles honour 'Cold Warrior' Ronald Reagan [92]

Another idiot who perpetuated a needless 'war' with Russia. The need to have an enemy was very strong. Making an enemy of a country who has more nuclear warheads was a bit foolish to say the least.

Scots and Slavs know about being warriors, that creep only knew how to hide behind big weapons. Were he to be at the helm of say, Macedonia, do u really think he'd be so cocksure? I think not somehow.

News / Absolutely balanced vision of Russo-Polish affairs (in Russian) [39]

Give my regards to ur Grandma, a wee ballerina she was in her day.

Have u followed in her footsteps or...?

Sorry, I can't write in Serbian so that u'll understand. I'm actually writing in English to be polite, rather than Scottish. There are always dictionaries

Crow, do u actually follow politics at all? Or do u merely pursue inane utopian ideologies without any solidly rooted base in reality?

Sorry, I respect Slavs like my fellow Celts but u paint them as sth they are not.

Brothers? WTF? When was this vodka party?

Work / Mexican looking for a chance to work as a musician in Poland...... [7]

I wish you all the best!

There is a Mexican Bar here in Gliwice and I think it's quite popular. Enchiladas, burritos, tacos and much much more. Ur food is tasty!!

Poland has a rich dancing tradition and an appreciation of the salsa. I think it depends on luck but, if u focus enough, u'll be successful.

Good luck again amigo

Life / Antisemitism in Poland; is it safe for a Jew to live in Poland? [193]

Yeah, Poland shouldn't be dragged into a modern day conflict to a large extent. They offered many Jews a home for such a long time, something they have had to fight tooth and nail for for a long time. I can't believe they were disillusioned with Poles who didn't help them out against the Nazis. They did at times and fear dictated actions. Most Poles didn't want to see the destruction of the Jews.

Language / The sound of the Polish 'R' [33]

As a Scot who knows Polish, I'd say that I just need to accentuate the 'r' a little more to get the effect. For example, motor is more than us Scots trill our 'r'. It just depends on the word.

News / Thank you Ireland... EUCCP [81]

Sweden seems to have embraced democracy really well. I don't know which country really serves as the true exemplar of democracy.

The Democratic Republic of Congo, hmm...

Life / Poles need to learn to save! [73]

I agree with Nita to a large extent. The degree of electricity wasting is high. I guess I see it more as I'm Scottish, we are born to save and be thrifty. If I'm led to believe the salary figures that are bandied about, the Poles can ill afford to be wasteful. Time to be frugal folks

Megalomaniacs R Us

Even self-proclaimed Democrats don't really know how true democratic processes work.

News / Thank you Ireland... EUCCP [81]

The EU tripped itself up here by drafting provisions which allowed for the indefinite stymying of progress. Ireland was merely exercising the most sacrosanct of democratic rights, the right to vote 'no'. Ireland has really prospered under the EU's various schemes but it is not the booting boy of the EU. Politics is inextricably intertwined with business and Ireland knows that well.

It's quite humorous how the EU has brought this on itself.

UK, Ireland / Why British murder Polish? [41]

I could murder an Indian, LOL

Please, feel free to criticise groups who carry out such heinous attacks but don't put the word British in front of them. Their nationality is merely incidental. I wouldn't class myself as a proud Brit, far from it, but I do object to the intensification of conflict and tension through needless labelling.

Food / Polish beer-match food [13]

Spot on Zgubi!! They complement each other well. Eating in winter in Poland is a real taste experience, washed down with a Zywiec.

Zywiec is what the mountaineers drink, along with Harnas. Starve urself b4 going to such restaurants as u'll likely be eating and drinking a fair bit. It kinda goes with the territory.

UK, Ireland / Interesting Article on Nigel Kennedy Youtube [4]

Poland has an excellent jazz tradition. Even the amateur guys can wow crowds. I'm not into jazz myself but I can appreciate mastery of instruments. I wish Kennedy well, he is a seasoned performer who plays with confidence.

News / America: Take your missile base and shove it! [116]

Americans trying to buy the world again, how sad!!

Try toning the foreign policy down a wee bittie. George Bush has admitted that he finds it difficult and, after having read Bush at War by Bill Woodward, I can understand why. Stick to the domestic policy folks, much to be done there.

Life / Antisemitism in Poland; is it safe for a Jew to live in Poland? [193]

U may encounter bad remarks if u r unlucky but hostility is unlikely. The Poles don't have so many bones to pick with the Jews and, as far as I can gather, get on quite harmoniously with each other.

I surmise that some would envy any potential success u'd have more than ur status as a Jew. Don't worry, u'll be absolutely fine.

He likes a good fiddle, does he? He's an Aston Villa fan, hmm...

His Four Seasons rendition was stunning. In Poland? I didn't know that. I know that he has been here but I thought that that was just to visit.

He's a super talent

Food / Polish beer-match food [13]

I wouldn't say Polish beer is the best in the world. Travel a bit and u'll come to that conclusion. I think Czech beer would get that award. However, some Asian beers run them close. It's just a matter of preference.

Tyskie is quite common, well worth forking out for. As for food, well, it depends on the season. Pierogi are commonly eaten in winter but they can be eaten at any time.
