Law / I want to go to poland but worried about the army [38]

Quoting: JozioDrewniany
In this day and age that you must serve in any Army is ridiculous.

Why ?

The army is not for everyone. Its voluntary here in Ireland and the UK (and the UK had conscribtion) the quality of the soldier and mentality is better when they want to be there.

I served four years voluntarily and i can say i wouldnt want someone who was forced into it serving with me when there mind is not on the job.

Also, In today's society, there are fair better civil services to 'conscript' people into. Like Getting doctors to serve in health, accountants in the civil service, engineers in the depts. etc etc. and you can do that for 9 months also!

A way to ensure all citizens contribute their level of education to society rather than marching up and down a square (which i found fun in my four years - i just know its not for everyone and not to be forced on the unwilling)

IMHO - 2 cents

History / Poland has paid £68 Million for helping UK in WW2 [168]

World War instead of British-German war! Can you believe it?!?

the USA, Germany, Russia, England & japan.

Thats all the worlds superpowers back then. so its fair to call it 'world war'

Ireland had a minor role. switzerland. norway. Eritria. argentina. but on the grand scheme of the war it was USA, Germany, Russia, England & japan the main players as it were

Love / Relatioship 'Norms' for polish couples/Polish & other nationalites [16]

Czesc all!

Im interested to learn, what is the normal interaction for a polish couple? you know, what do they do in the sense, do they go out with a view to love/attraction/marriage?

Who wears the pants?

Are there any subtle things you've noticed in a mixed relationship or have you just noticed certain ways they act.

Im asking, for no uncertain reason, just popped into my head there may be a topic in there :D

Polonia / Germans: Do Poles like them or dislike them? [217]

daffy, hm, don't seem to want to understand our position between the Russkies and Krauts. It's because if they tried to really understand it, empathise with us

you dont get what i am about at all. i DO sympathise with you. Thats not what ive objected to. Its the attitudes held against the german and russian PEOPLE. its another level dealing with governments.

Life / Question About Polish Attitudes Towards Non-Polish People: [23]

Such policies have never been established in any western country in the past.

shows what you know then abot history. Ive just given you ONE example of a western country that has done what you suggested. It failed.

Multicultralism is another word for third world immigration.

so your calling Poland a third world country? i dont agree with that.

People have ALWAYS went to economic centres throughout HISTORY in order to find work and money

Rome, in the early AD

Venice

Marco Polos, silk route

Then the industrial revolution it was the lkes of London, Paris, Milan for eg.

Up to recently it was the USA

Now europe is gaining and people go to west europe.

Life / Question About Polish Attitudes Towards Non-Polish People: [23]

Let's try that concept and then you can see.

how about learning from history and not repeat mistakes eh? lets try that instead.
The smart option.

No country has been able to survive and DEFO never thrived in such a manner!

Ireland did this to the UK in its early year (DeValera - the 'economic war') Nearly destroyed the country!!! It was Cosgrove who fixed it!! (subsequent leader of next gov't and opposite party)

News / POLAND's ENERGY -WHAT is it? WHERE is it from? [29]

ireland for EG has a HUGE natural resource of the west coast (atlantic) in Renewable energy. (wind & wave technologes)

so much so, its been reported Ireland could actually EXPORT energy we'd have that much to spare! :0

i dont think nuclear is the answer. as an energy yes it very good. but the time to buld is too long.

it costs too much to build

it costs too much to maintain

it costs too much to dispose of waste (safely even more :))

it costs too much to decommission

This is why for eg the UK is trying to get out of Nuclear Fuels as a source of power.
(its doesnt even supply 10% of its energy needs!)

News / POLAND's ENERGY -WHAT is it? WHERE is it from? [29]

CO2 represents only half of the problem

half of the problem of the world (ie cars, planes etc. sorry my coma shoulda been a full stop)

Those "better and quicker means" have one big problem. Can they be developed at all

so we should rush into thge first alternative then? thats bad management thinking.

we must explore all alternatives not just the first one that seems ok

yes i did :) infact there is an entire thread of me trying to show another guy this very point!

I don't think there is a problem with the origin of the language witek, do you?

News / POLAND's ENERGY -WHAT is it? WHERE is it from? [29]

he is correct, no comparasion!

while nuclear energy is safer today than ever, it still has the waste issue (even though storage is better than it was, its still not the greatest)

However, i would disagree with nuclear power on its price. its NOT cost effective to build. No company will build a plant unless the gov't pays for it. (our money)

it takes 7-12 years to build a nuclear power plant

Unlike coal and oil plants, nuclear power plants do not produce CO2. However, nuclear power plants cannot appreciably help in the fight against Global Warming for a number of reasons:

Polonia / Germans: Do Poles like them or dislike them? [217]

You think Germans are nice or have changed? wrong

we've been through this you and i - its the same arguemtn we could make about the english here in ireland - ive already told you what they've done to my family in the past and i shouldnt need to go into 700 years worth of examples.

i think the english are nice and have changed!

and i think the germans have too

move onwards, move upwards.

Life / Question About Polish Attitudes Towards Non-Polish People: [23]

All foreigners should be shot on sight grrrrr arrrrrrgh i make sense!

*rolling eyes*

its just crazy the amount of rascist, xenophobic, ignorant 'trolls'' we have coming here.

They blame all their woes on foreigners and they think closed borders will actually improve things

its enough to make want to teach!!!
