Poles in UK claiming state benefit have cost the taxpayer 45M pounds [55]
Tens of thousands of Eastern European migrants living in Britain are exploiting a loophole in the law to claim UK child benefit for children they have left behind or living with them.
Migrant workers from new EU member states mostly from poles signing up in droves for the cash, funded by British taxpayers.
The Mail on Sunday has learned that more than 50,000 Poles have also applied for the handouts so far this year.
In Poland, parents do not have an automatic right to state benefits for their children. Even those payments which are available are strictly means-tested and very few people qualify.
At the current rate, even if they claim for only one child, the Polish applications alone will already have cost the taxpayer 45million pounds this year.
The revelation comes after a Mail on Sunday investigation found that some Polish parents were dumping their children in state orphanages or with relatives to take up jobs in the UK.
Now, Polish officials say that the weight of applications for UK child benefit has left the state agency dealing with the claims facing collapse.
"There's so many to deal with. In some cases whole villages have left to go and work abroad," said Beata Trybowska, of the Krakow branch of the agency responsible for processing the applications.---------------------------
My comment:Reading this I'm thinking to give up my job. I have worked from the day I left school but now I see no point in going out to work and supporting the whole world. I'm just thinking how nice it's going to be not having to get up in the freezing weather.
Yet another loophole that is being used to rip off the country!
The UK must be the laughing stock of the world. But you can bet when this country is bankrupt with all the money going out to support every migrant in Europe the very same people who we have let in will go back home. Close all borders now to stop the rot.
Mr Tony Blair, when you can spare us a moment of your time after your holidays, can you perhaps justify why we have to subsidise all of these immigrants at the expense of our own nationals? And perhaps you can assure us that we will not be subsidising the next huge wave of immigrants from the rest of Eastern Europe?
Many people in Ireland are beginning to get fed up with Poles. This week more than 50 people protested against the anti-social behaviour of members of the Polish community in Belfast. This anti-social behaviour includes noise, drunkenness, rubbish piled up in gardens, and too may people living in one house! The problem is made worse because many catholic Poles have moved into traditionally protestant areas of northern Ireland.
