UK, Ireland / Housing problem in England [13]

Just watched a TV programme. They recon they will have to build 200 houses a day for 20 years to meet the demand of People who already live here and those coming from other countries.

Problem is where do they build them?

UK, Ireland / Unemployed due to Polish who work in the UK [126]

I'm a teaching asst in an English school and i'm learning Polish because i want to help the Polish children when they come over here.

My dream job would be to move to Poland and work in a school and helping them there. Only thing holding me back at the moment are my two boys as i wouldn't want to disrupt their lives to much. Maybe one day. :-)

Love / It's going to take more for me to trust a Polish woman again... [22]

I think the trick is to be a b**tard to them treat them mean keep em keen! kind of thing!

oh LT Navy this never works. My ex (a military man by the way) was like this to me. I suffered 13 years and then one day SNAPPED!!!!! we're now divorced.

So take heed of what i say "IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!!"

Love / Why do people judge me because im an english girl with a polish man? [14]

some people can be soooo racist that it scares me.

I was at a party on Saturday, drinkin my Polish wodka and red bull a little too quick (think it was about 5 in the space of 2hoursbut they were large shots) anyway, happened to mention i was learning Polish as someone else said they were learning French and that was it, i got a barrage of abuse from this bloke about the Polish coming over here and some other quite nasty stuff, then another bloke chipped in and gave his pennies worth. I felt quite scared and no one backed me up although other people were listening.

I left the party and drove home. Thank god i live in the countryside (no police).
Why are some people like that?
They made me feel as if i was doing something wrong by liking the Polish.

UK, Ireland / Polish girl burned alive in Liverpool [201]

Why do peolple have to tar everyone with the same brush.
My friend has trouble with her Polish neighbours and thinks all Polish people are the same but i have not yet met one Polish person to give me concern. They are kind friendly people. Like here in the UK there are a few bad apples in the barrel and we have to live with it. Lets hope justice will prevail.

Life / How do you feel to be Polish? Can someone tell me a poem about Poland's culture? [19]

Totally agree there Patrycja.
I have met quite a few people who are getting annoyed with the amount of Polish people coming over here, but i point out to them that the Polish are normally doing jobs that 'us' english don't want to do so why shouldn't they be here.

I welcome them all with open arms, especially the tall good looking ones. he he! :-)

Language / Help!! I've got to teach year 7 Polish numbers. [13]

Wow janusz! All those questions lol

Well It would have to have voice so they know how to pronounce it, pictures so they can see how many objects the number represents. The word could be repeated a couple of times with a pause in between so they can try and say the word. As for how many numbers 1-10 to start then 11-20 then 30,40,50 up to 100 i don't know really.

The kids are 11-13 so some thing that would appeal to that age group would be a good idea.

Have you ever watched sesame street along those ideas would be great. :-)

yank i don't get that, my tongue is in knots lol

I,m learning the numbers to and i'v listened to it over and over. The only thing i think it sounds like is saying the word 'stair' very short and quick, but i don't know if that is right.

Language / Help!! I've got to teach year 7 Polish numbers. [13]

Got told by the teacher who takes my year 7 group, that i will be taking the lesson when we do the Polish numbers. He thought it would be fun for them to do something in maths a bit different and when he found out i was learning polish well!

Thought first of all i'd get them to try and learn 1-10. I've printed out how they are pronounced so that shouldn't be too hard.

Then playing a matching game - they have to find the person with the english version of their number which will be in Polish.
Then they could try and get themselves in order from 1-10.
The lesson will be about 30mins long and i have to keep them interested.
If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

UK, Ireland / Change my mind about poles in the uk [42]

I for one will not speak to any polish people again as they are not welcome by me.

This was what annoyed me. Tarring everyone with the same brush.

I know Chris who i went out with for a month, his friends Domonic and Seb, Marcus (oh Marcus) sorry just gone week at the knees, his mates sorry don't know their names, eva and Marta. I know all these from going to the local pubs and night club and we always say hello their English is better then my polish so thats why i'm learning.

They are all really nice.

See teashoci, you labled all Polish people as being rude and not wanted in this country, but when i say something about you, you get defensive. So what did you expect to get from your post?
