News / Abortion - how is the Polish government going to deal with this issue? [273]

abortion is available throughout EU countries

in certain in EU countries, under varying criteria

news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6235557.stm gives an EU breakdown of what is and is not acceptable under the LAWS of each individual country and NOT an EU law.

News / Poland's Contribution to the E.U. [56]

Polish food due to migration has found itself on the selves of many local and 'high'street shops in western europe for eg.

from sweets to meats all good for eats! :)

However, how about the automotive industry? Polska Fiat? Polonia? what is the status today of these companies?

Is poland exporting Coal to the market for eg?
Steel an industry at all?

The brain drain? are many educated leaving? like docter, engineers, accountants?

use a torrent.

torrents are not loaded with spyware and are more difficult to track and easier/safer to downlaod

ok, well they are both easy to download but safer, yes

utorrent.com

azureus.com

and use for eg.pirate bay for the torrent

Law / I want to go to poland but worried about the army [38]

well, there are a lot of people who will do anything to avoid going to the army and many succeeded in the past, by staying longer at the uni, getting false doctor certificates etc, leaving the country and so on.

same in nearly any country with mandatory military service

it just shows how unpopular it is.

even those that dont go to such lengths and serve ,hate it

i know very view ppl who were conscripted and enjoyed the experience.

unlike a voluntary service - whereby they choose to be there.

I dont see conscription in poland lasting the next 10 years. It hasnt in the UK, france, US, etc.

Law / I want to go to poland but worried about the army [38]

But you must admit that those who should really learn from the past (country leaders, specially) do not really

i never denied it :)

statement of human rights it's an improvement itself

who wrote those? hmmm? these are an example of people who saw the old system did not work and provided changes ie an improvment from lessons (usually hard ones) from the past

ergo. learning from the past.

not everyone does tica, to which ive already stated

personal agendas, power, corruption, corruption of power.
these situations had failed to have checks and balances in place toi prevent such

Is it that bad to serve Polish army ? I would be proud to serve in Army of their history

i think its a matter of choice - being able to want to serve rather than forced. besides not everyone is like you and me and want to serve. Some just want to dentists, shopkeepers some just dont want to be told.

Law / I want to go to poland but worried about the army [38]

Learning system?... I would unfornately not be so sure... but hey it's better, overall specially!

by saying its better, your implying it was worse first. therefore your saying the system has 'learned' by getting better. it didnt just happen out of thin air get better :)

there are many situations in the world right now that could have avoided millions of people suffering

personal agendas, power, corruption, corruption of power.
these situations had failed to have checks and balances in place toi prevent such

and even then, its not yet perfected. by each mistake they learn.
close loopholes. etc

But if they can serve upto the age of 27....will they have to enlist after university....most people finish before that age?

no idea

if you are done with the Univeristy before reaching 27, you still have to serve less than a year I believe.

that doesnt hold true to my friends. 24-26 who are finished college and working awya in wroclaw

IS it only true for men, or are women included?

no idea

Law / I want to go to poland but worried about the army [38]

But you are on the islands...

didnt stop the UKs centuries of warfare. moot point G.

And I don't think that Swiss and Sweds would have draft If that was so ridiculous.

i didnt say it was ridiculous. I said that there are other alternatives that are better serving to society. It is for each society to determine the use of its resources.

Switzerland has a unique position in Europe and there will always be 'exceptions to the rule' G
:)

bottem line is MORE countries Do not use conscription, espcially in times of peace.

Wow, I had no idea that it was mandatory to give service in the armed forces in Poland. Is it just for males or females too? How old are most when they go in? Is it really only 9 months to serve? What about in the case of war.....can one be called to come back and serve? Very interesting topic.

if you go to university you can avoid it

History / Poland has paid £68 Million for helping UK in WW2 [168]

Volumewise

we are talking only volume wise Maxxx. and the volumes are the superpowers mentioned

even the fate of one person can change the world

Yes , World war is an appropiate name. I just think that exact date when WW II started is more of a matter of definition.

i agree

Law / I want to go to poland but worried about the army [38]

thats why we must always have checks and balances, checks and balances.

for every bad apple there are many, many good ones and some that are just the polar opposite to the one very bad one.

time has shown that our ways have changed and are always changing that those who do wrong are getting caught and punished.

while there are still many exceptions. its not a perfect system, but it is a learning one.

Law / I want to go to poland but worried about the army [38]

we don't have an army! wouldn't the world be a better place w/o it?!?

it would be nice - but to use a reference in another thread. in a community of 100, it takes just 1 person to spoil it, commit crimes etc. We need ppl to enforce the laws of a society so all can live in relative harmony and to be able to prosper.

as to armed forces, well unfortunatly there still are threats to society that the police cannot tackle on there own.

Drugs, terrorism, hooliganism/riots, etc

though, i aspire to work for what you mention :)

History / Poland has paid £68 Million for helping UK in WW2 [168]

yes i know. and ireland (norther) was a refuelling base for Royal navy and a base for the RAF to watch the atlantic.

Yet you'd still say the role was minimal in comparasion to the input of the USA, Germany, Russia, UK & japan.

Alot of countries had a variety of differing roles in the WW. but the superpowers were in a totally different league.

its in response that WW was a German-UK war. You could say such if you changed the definiton of war but the fact was the war touched nearly everypart of the world in some way (small or large)
