Study / Back to the college, want to continue studies in Poland... [13]

!!! Should i change my mind to study in poland.?!?! what i am comming there is for good education.. am i wrong here..??

Like anywhere, there is good and bad education. The general schooling should be good, it is in France too for that matter. In the Soviet Union there were all sorts of universities for foreigners and these new arrivals spent four or five years studying for these so-called phd's that were in effect worthless. In England we have good universities too such as London, Cambridge and Oxford but almost every college is now a university-I do not know what to trust myself anymore. I think that education and university was very prestigious but I am sure that it does not mean quite the same amount as it once did either in the West or in Poland for that matter.

i had completed class 10, but i skipped 11 , 12 class, is there any way i can join Undergraduate program in poland ( BBA).

Are you considering learning in the medium of Polish or English? If you are contemplating on entering a private 'university' it should not be very difficult as they are more interested in the colour of your money. Get a few certificates, even buy them on line with official stamps it always impresses the Est Europeans-they are obsessed with certificates with official looking stamps. You will then certainly get a place.

History / Should Germany claim to be the victims in Poland? [510]

ou never lived through it. The outcome may have been different if the situation was reversed. But your not polish anyway so you what would you know about the communism regime that was over poland.

Exactly, these new arrivals come and see the modern day Poland and just want 'to take a slice of the action'. I wonder what these teachers of English would think standing in a queue for an hour to buy a pot of coffee and then to earn a hundred pounds a month. They come to Poland, look at the countryside and thing 'my God this is wonderful. Learn a few daft words in Polish and then think that they can talk down their noses to the rest of us.

I think that the Nurenburg trails were a shame. It seems so strange that the British slaughtered so many people colonizing the World yet never stood trail at all. It is just another case of of 'might is right'.

UK, Ireland / Poles in the UK sleeping in toilets [165]

True. They should better write something about a British guy I pissed on.

And who would that be, me? Come off it, you all always full of talk and hot air. I have never heard of Poles sleeping in toilets at night. The authorities always lock them up (the toilets, that is) at night anyway. Poles would rather sleep on the floor like anyone else any day of the week.

News / Will Poland become green? [122]

It's time to wake up Grerorz! ALL SCIENTISTS now agree (30 years too late) that MAN is the cause of global warming and i'm affraid Al Gore is right! Poland didn't have a winter last year! Rememb

Exactly, and it is the Poles lovely Kraków and their Nowa Huta which is more responsible for global warming that almost anything else.

I do not believe that it is the United States that does not want to clean up its act, rather the United States wants to secure the future of China, which is the main concern. China is earning billions of dollars and already has considerable economic management and control in the United States of America.

News / Will Poland become green? [122]

Poland should become a cleaner country as their industrial base has fallen. Coal is no longer popular and is no longer used in Poland for moving trains. It is the mentality of the Poles that needs educating. After all, two stroke Syrenka motor cars is not really the way forward in my book at least!

USA, Canada / New USA visa regulations [19]

I think with England it was a 'tit for tat' situation because Margaret Thatcher said that the Poles must have visas when for instance at the same time historically, the Czechs could come here and stay and work for two years on an au pair visa.

News / The Polish Post Office is swamped at Christmas Season! [22]

You have to remember that Polish postman earn almost nothing at all. They can not afford to go sick even as they receive only 80 per cent of their pay which is already almost nothing-800zl per month. They make a bit extra by delivering people's pensions and live off the little tips they get.

USA, Canada / New USA visa regulations [19]

Americans also should need a visa If they want to visit Poland.

What is wrong with that? Everybody who visited Poland had to have a visa and pay money for every day of your stay in Poland. The Poles must have made a fortune out of poor travelers.

News / The Polish Post Office is swamped at Christmas Season! [22]

Some years ago we had some friends that sent a parcel in their car to Poland and then posted it on registered post to its final destination, also, of course, in Poland. The parcel arrived but the ten pound note inside was gone! If letters, cards and parcels can be seen to be from abroad it must make them especially susecepable to theft.

UK, Ireland / POLISH STUDENT MISSING IN YORKSHIRE UK.... BODY FOUND.. [26]

british hospitality?

People are murdered every single day in Poland. Anyway, it is too early to speculate. He might have simply been very drunk and fallen in. The police are legally required to treat all such deaths as suspicious from the outset but tend to downscale their activities later on.

News / The Polish Post Office is swamped at Christmas Season! [22]

What also delays the mail is how people write the zip code. In US you write nr. 1 like a number 1, in Poland it's an upside down V. Now when the sorting machine receives a zip code with 4 upside down V's and a cros

Yes, but it is understandable the service is slow. Have you ever seen the type of people the American Post Office employs? Mind you, I was once in Las Vegas and could not find a post office and a man on collection gave me for free a whole batch of stamps. I was also lost just outside Dunedun heading back from Sarasota and I asked a mailman who seemed to know what he was talking about.

UK, Ireland / Polish towns/cities/villages twinned with UK ones [30]

Piotrków Trybunalski - Neath Port Talbot, Wales

No, that is not possible. Nowhere on earth could or would want to be twinned to Piotrków Trybunalski. I have driven through this town several times in my life driving between Częstochowa and Radom. My God, what a dump!

UK, Ireland / Locations of Polish food and drink places in London [12]

Very disappointing range in Tesco and Sainsburys. Do

Yes but the prices are at least HALF those in small private shops so it would be best to buy the general orange juices ect in Tesco rather than in these small shops.

Law / Under contract to teach and fraud, is there a fine to leave Poland? [35]

As I explained above, I did do that. It was precisely BECAUSE it was not otherwise mentioned in the contract, but had been so explicitly stated in the email and conversation (which predated the contract by a week or two), that I asked again more

If this has been mentioned in an e-mail and conversation then it also becomes part of the contract. If he verbally agreed to reimurse you the 900zl he is legally bound to do so. This all goes to show what a waste of time TESOL teaching is and I am very glad that I have never fallen for this trap. Better to get a job for Walmart back in the States!

Work / ABOUT POLISH WORKERS [28]

On the other hand, is he simply a young man who has come to England from Poland to avoid his National Service? In Poland you finish your matura and then go on to university. If you do not get a place it was always two years in the army or even three in the navy. I believe that they have reduced the time requirement now but maybe sand and cement is seen for him as better than boot polishing!

Is he on his own? He might work harder if he is working with others who speak his language. He may be quite lonely if he is on his own. Most people work better as little teams.

Work / ABOUT POLISH WORKERS [28]

IS IT NORMAL YOU THINK, IF YOUR WORKERS PICK UP HIS MOBILE AS OFTEN AS HE WANTS? SO HE SPEND HIS 3 HOURS WORKS JUST TO YUPP THROUGH MOBILE?? is it normal here?? no body still answer me abt this question :( cheerss

In my experience Eastern European work very hard, though I have never been an employer so it is hard for me to say. Have you had some big disagreement? Is he angry or resentful about something? Maybe he is just getting his own back' and by talking on his phone is simply his way of doing that. Have you paid him what he is owed?

Work / ABOUT POLISH WORKERS [28]

Maybe he is not interested in working or is not being paid very much. We have some Latvian workers building in the house opposite us and they work all the time non stop. Maybe you are just unlucky or maybe there is nobody on site to see what he is doing.

UK, Ireland / Visa or certification to work and live in the U.K.? [14]

however my Polish passport is expired. Does

I would have assumed that if you hold, have held and are not otherwise disqualified from obtaining such a passport, that you would be able to continue to work legally in the United Kingdom on your polish Passport as Poland has joined the E.U. If you had relinquished Polish citizenship that may be another point all together but the fact that your passport is simply out of date should not really matter-anyway, that my opinion for all its worth.
