Love / Best Man's role at Polish Wedding. [14]

LOL - i drove to a friends wedding in a kilt one summer when an unwelcome stripy visitor decided to fly up it. Fearing for my manhood and momentarily distracted i took my eyes off the road and went straight into the car in front. Man in front jumped out of car looking irate. I jumped out of car flapping kilt furiously. Man in front got quickly back in car.

and what did your research suggest?

there are a number of pubs/bars/discos advertised on allegro at this very moment that will tell you exactly how much it costs to buy then then rent them

i go out of my way to look at antiques and have seen some wonderful stuff here in poland - outstanding furniture, clocks, lamps, ornaments and general niknaks which are what i really like... stuff that serves very little purpose but looks great :-)

the jarmark dominikanski, summer, gdansk is a great place to pick up something interesting

News / US military... how does poland feel about the US military? [70]

when recently in the states i was struck by the subtle (and not so subtle) differences between the us and uk recruitment ads for the mili

from what i gather, many young americans see the military as a way out, as you say - money, education, future - and perhaps dont give too much thought to actually having to go and do their time on the front line. my cuzns young daughter joined the us mili at some ridiculous age and ended up in iraq cleaning up vehicles after they were hit by whatever... bit of a shock for her...

i believe youngsters who join up in the uk know more about what they are getting themselves into - its a career in the army in most cases rather than just a way out.

USA, Canada / Polish, American, Polish-American - what am I to you? [34]

well, thats open for debate. if you consider england to be the whe whole of the british isles, which to all intent and purpose it is, then yes, it could be argued that my blood as well as my nationality is english. if, however, you believe that england should be divided to include the lesser counties of ireland, scotland and wales then no, my blood is not english... but i am... by the grace of good... although i am thinking of converting to islam allahu akbar

UK, Ireland / Catholic church experience for Poles in England [22]

religious architecture can be awsome. my cuz wrote his doctoral thesis on the relationship between religious and military architecture, in particular, military insignia in religious architecture in britain, which was very interesting, but of very little use to the vast majority and probably a waste of tax payers money

oh well

USA, Canada / Polish, American, Polish-American - what am I to you? [34]

thats actually where you are wrong

my blood isnt english, but i am - when i go to the country my blood is from i know i am different, my values are different, the way perceive things is different, the way i approach things are different because i was born and raised somewhere different.

the society you were born and raised in is what moulds you into the person you are... not the blood that happens to course thru your veins. people's pull to their homeland is a natural desire for something they think they have lost... most often seen amongst americans who more often than not get laughed at when they go back to their 'motherland' and try to be a local
