US military... how does poland feel about the US military?

Its funny how they say they are in Iraq to protect our rights but we have lost more rights than we have gained. I mean in the name of the war we lost our right to habeas corpus! Its sickening how these "men" recruiters come onto highschool campuses and promise kids a good salary and future. These kids find out later they have sold their soul to the devil who will send them to Iraq!

Don't worry Rocky, nobody wants you in Iraq. Not even the Iraqis. You'll be a good accountant someday, keep practicing your accountant skills, even if it's not an exciting job, and doesn't ask you to risk your life (you aren't planning to work for the mob, or maybe Mexican Mafia, are you?) but the pay is no doubt great and there are some girls who will stay with you as long as you have that part.

Otherwise, you've got a lot to learn about the Military and what it does, and indeed, does not-do. You still have habeas corpus, also, as long as you are a citizen, (you haven't renounced that, have you?) and enemy troops have NEVER had a right to habeas corpus under U.S. law, so really-what exactly changed?

As for selling one's soul to the devil, if that's what you think of serving your country, I'll defend to the death your right to be wrong.

After all, if money is the root of all that is evil, and the devil=evil, then as an accountant, you'd be the devil's right hand man!

Rocky, I think you worry far too much about things which have no real affect on you. It would be like me complaining that space suits are hot inside-hey, if I ever have to wear one, it might even matter.

Good luck at school man.

when recently in the states i was struck by the subtle (and not so subtle) differences between the us and uk recruitment ads for the mili

from what i gather, many young americans see the military as a way out, as you say - money, education, future - and perhaps dont give too much thought to actually having to go and do their time on the front line. my cuzns young daughter joined the us mili at some ridiculous age and ended up in iraq cleaning up vehicles after they were hit by whatever... bit of a shock for her...

i believe youngsters who join up in the uk know more about what they are getting themselves into - its a career in the army in most cases rather than just a way out.

Psssh still it suspends aliens rights! Obviously captured aliens had a writ of habeas corpus before the military commissions act. If not then y did they need to pass it! Sorry if i believe that everyone deserves a fair trial and a lawyer! U know George bush claimed it would be too costly to give them a fair trial? we went into this war cheap lets not condemn people cheap!

LOL wat do u mean "some" girls? It's much ezier to maintain a relationship when u don't belong to uncle sam! Dude 2 years ago I ****** some morons GF while he was doing a 15 month tour in Iraq! U see girls have immediate needs and they don't wanna talk to u over a damn online video for more than a year! LOL Some girls HAHAHAHAHA

Once u get a CPA-MBA u make alot more than gr8 $! The average starting salary for that combo of credentials is around 90k a year! If u have charisma and are a type A the sky is the limit for a gr8 accountant. I have an uncle who is an admiral and he makes jack **** compared to my dad's accountant! The fattest rolling accountant I know takes in over 10 mil a year as a CFO! =D I guess u could consider that gr8

There's some truth to this, even if it bugs the @#$# out of most of us who aren't quite like that. Often when one sees people parading on TV as "conscientious objectors" one finds out the person in question has been in less than a year or two or is coming up on his or her FIRST deployment to war. They then complain that they only joined for "the education" or whatever. Ridiculous. One doesn't work for McDonalds and never expect to make a burger, no matter how much training you have....

(Guess what I'm trying to say, is I agree)-US recruiting doesn't seem to get it. They try lowering standards and making things easy, at the suggestion of sociologists who've never served, thinking it will bolster the numbers. This is backwards from reality. People join the armed forces because they want to be PROUD of something. The Marines made their boot camp TOUGHER-and guess what, recruitment went UP. Even though people sometimes DIE in the training, people are clamoring for the chance to be members of SEAL teams, even though only a tiny fraction ever makes it. Nobody is hammering down the doors to be a clerk.

I have seen at least one of the RM recruiting ads on youtube. Excellently done-shows different parts of training including a ditch, a short bit underwater in a drain culvert, some other stuff-says something to the effect of "Had enough? how about now? now? Then don't even bother filling out the paperwork" something like that. Here, they promise adventure or training, or whatever...honestly, I wish they'd let US make the recruiting videos. I've done some cool stuff...that maybe some guy out there would also think is pretty neat, maybe even enough to work for it.

My son is contemplating the US Navy He his my only one , however the dicipline and education may be good for him. He would be better off than cruising in his corvette and picking up girls that is for sure!

U bought him a corvette? Damn and somtimes I think im spoiled! If he joins as an enlisted I guarantee he won't make nearly enough $ to maintain the lifestyle you have been providing him with if your buying him 40,000 dollar sportscars.

No rocky I bought him a farm tractor. My ex wife's father bought him the vet Guess what gets the most use. I might as well go charge up the battery in that tractor again .

HAHAHAHAHA! How old is he? Dude make sure he actually knows wat he's getting himself into if he joins! Ur ass is theirs once u sign that contract there really aren't many ways out of it! Not only that but ur life is ruled by them! They tell u when to eat when to sleep what you will be doing job wise. They barely pay you anything if your an enlisted to.

Obviously captured aliens had a writ of habeas corpus before the military commissions act.

Captured aliens=illegals, etc. not P.O.W.s or even enemy combatants....

we went into this war cheap lets not condemn people cheap!

And yet, it is perfectly acceptible to shoot them dead, rather than accepting their surrender and finding if they know information that could save other people. I'll leave the accounting and drug use to you, as the subject matter expert, and you can leave the enforcement of national policy to people trained for it.

Dude 2 years ago I ****** some morons GF while he was doing a 15 month tour in Iraq!

Rocky, some day perhaps, you will realize that sleeping with someone else's GF while he is gone does not constitute a "relationship" unless perhaps they broke up and she was your GF. It's only a reflection of her weakness and your own lack of character. I doubt you'll get an accounting job after school if they get wind of your type of ethics....not when money is concerned. Perhaps your uncle or cousin or Dad or somebody can hire you. Seems they protect you and your friends from responsibility elsewhere already.

It is a dangerous path you are on right now. While probably nothing happened to you for preying on lonely girls, ("deployment widows"-there's actually a term for it), none of them even CONSIDERED you for long term potential, and probably went back to their BF's. Did you tell the BF's what you did when he came back? did you make the girl honest? Didn't think so.

You're young. Clean up and get serious, before you find yourself with a degree, no job, mooching on family, and either locked up or murdered by a jealous BF/GF/Husband whatever. Jealousy is always near the top of the list for motives when someone is murdered.

You could be a success. Some accountants (the good ones) make a lot of $$$. The ones who are TRUSTED by their employers. Don't blow it with the pot and with this mentality of "if I get away with it, it's OK". The job market is the real world and Daddy won't protect you. You'll have to stand on your own merits and work for it.

Good luck

I don't need my daddy to protect me i have his **** test chart detailing the amounts of marijuana i can get away with in any given time period and pass a drug test! I also have my crafty interview skills and family reputation. That can take u far just look a George W. Bad student. Its not like i advertise I smoke weed if u were in any of my classes u'd never have guessed.

The commissions act doesn't say anthing about illegal aliens! aclu.org/safefree/detention/habeastimeline.html Its refering to all non citizens!!

Clean up and get serious who are u kidding? Even high as a kite i'd have a brighter future than a grunt like u! Wat is ur rank? Do u even have an undergraduate degree? Im a sophmore undergraduate at a gr8 private university with a 3.6 undergraduate gpa! Ive already interned with a healthcare CEO who probably makes more in a month than u have made in 5 years! Im more than str8tened up im AWARE! Im going on exchange in a year or 2 to become more fluent in spanish as well! MORON!!!!

Give me 20 years bro and i'll be the one who determines wether or not i'll give interest group funds to lobby for your childs future!!! =D Wait til NAFTA reaches its full stages John! I guarantee u there will b a seperation of the classes and a completely new US outlook on things! Its not how u structure ur life that determines where u get! Its how AWARE you are about the the world around u! The military fucks up ur brain! U can't critically think for yourself anymore!

Rocky you sound like a *****. I served in the Marines and I completed college. Look at you talking all this **** about your high GPA, yet you can't even spell. My parents came here from Poland with nothing and I created my future with my own damn hands. Now I got a house, a 335I in my driveway, and the peace of mind of knowing that I'm better then you. Deep down you're a weak little ***** and without your daddy you wouldn't be ****. No the military does not **** up your brain but a fist attached to a 5'9, 215lbs body sure as hell does.

Hmmm my father was a hippy back in the 70s he protested ur asses and spit in ur face during the Vietnam war. He now owns 2 houses. One is worth over 3 mil ther other is a luxury condo in sac he just bought so he had a place to stay when he lobbys. I can't spell? Thats an assumption! How do u know that I actually put the time in to make sure i have everything spelled right? I don't even double check what i write half of the time!

Gee profanities...typical of low class garbage! BLAH BLAH BLAH UR A ****** BLAH BLAH BLAH! lol Dude u have a college degree and the only thing u can do is rip on my spelling and cuss at me? =) So what prestigious occupation are u in to afford such luxuries? =D obviously its not the marines! If it is then u don't own ur possessions they probably own u!!! seeing as how most people in the military are low paid! =)

How do u define completing college? Better than me? In 20 years i'll be the one who owns u! Dude u will hit me? OMGah please do!!! I'd love to take ur house and ur 335i!!! Its called assault and i can press charges get u sent to jail then sue out of court for damages! =) My dad's attorneys would ruin ur life! =D plz wanna hit me i'll meet u in socal if u want 2! =) dude plz plz plz i would love to have more $ =)

You have a source for this info? Mind you, Rocky is a citizen...of course it never applies to non-citizens. It would be like me demanding to be given Canadian rights.

Constitutions only apply to the citizens of that particular country.

Thank you for making my point.

Really. How's that going to help you when the tests are random? Oh wait, you thought they would warn you? Good luck with that. Tell them you want to wait 30 days or let your Dad do the test.

Its not like i advertise I smoke weed if u were in any of my classes u'd never have guessed.

Nope, probably not. I'd just think you were a lazy kid that smelled like pot all the time. People who don't smoke it, even if they don't say anything, can smell it.

Im a sophmore undergraduate at a gr8 private university with a 3.6 undergraduate gpa

FWIW, good for you. I even agree with you about NAFTA being a bad idea; but why are you so DEFENSIVE, if I'm not hitting close to the mark? By the way, you obviously have no idea what the military is or is not and are IMHO most like just a simple troll, hoping to spool people up. Wow. you're a sophomore. Whoop te doo. You haven't even STARTED the important stuff then. Talk to me when you actually DO have a degree, or barring that, when you find some maturity in one of your rolling papers.

One is worth over 3 mil ther other is a luxury condo in sac he just bought so he had a place to stay when he lobbys.

...WAS worth 3 mil....when's the last time that baby got appraised. In case you didn't get the memo, the housing bubble just burst...still, kudos for your DAD for owning 2 homes, you'll always live in his shadow. It would seem you own ZERO homes....

I guarantee u there will b a seperation of the classes and a completely new US outlook on things!

Let's hope for your sake and people like you that you are wrong. Times of lawlessness are not good times for impolite people. If the economy collapses, just as in any other nation, all your money would be worthless, and no one could care less. Your dad would only keep his houses for as long as he could fight people off of them. On the bright side for you, nobody would care about your pot. As long as you grew your own you could smoke it all you want. Hope you find drinking water, though.

The military fucks up ur brain! U can't critically think for yourself anymore

Based on your posts, I'd say POT, not the military....f's up your brain....

My dad's attorneys would ruin ur life!

Daddy Daddy Daddy....ever consider that hippie or no, your father might actually want you to become a man some day and stand on your own?

Rocky, it's been fun, but you're a troll.

Good luck at school.

Enemy combatant? get a dictionary lol. They are not citizens, even the ones who *used* to be before taking up arms against the United States.

By definition, the constitution of ANY nation only applies to its own citizens. Even the beginning of the preamble, it says "We the People of the United States..."

The U.S. government does not have the authority to grant rights to other nations' citizens.

John... as i remember u said illegal aliens!

Captured aliens=illegals, etc. not P.O.W.s or even enemy combatants....

It says aliens! that means immigrants in the US can be jailed without habeas corpus if they are "suspected" terrorists! HAHAHAHA i forgot to read ur post about war widows and yes they did find out and i almost died laughing when i heard about how the poor babies broke down! What did they effin think that their GF or fiance would go that long without gettin ******? =D

I feel its extremely irresponsible to reproduce while ur on active duty or even be married! The deployment and moves can destroy relationships! Also we don't need any more "sheep" in this world! LAWLESSNESS DUDE!!! My great grandady made a killing when the market crashed and during the 1920s! $ loses values yep yep but.. gold and other goods don't! All i see a new crash as is opportunity! Time for the ******** like me to go take advantage of some of the cheap labor and lawlessness for profit!

Rocky, aliens are not citizens. Immigrants are, and as far as I'm concerned, every single one of the IMMIGRANTS are WELCOME here. They probably know more about being an American than most Americans born here.

cheap labor and lawlessness

You think your gold will stop a bullet? It won't. Somebody will take your stuff, unless you are polite and have friends. It is how people get along, even in "lawlessness".
