News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

So why wasn't that encouraged? Wanna know why? Simple, American arms firms have made a stack of cash from this war with the PLO and Hamas/Hezbollah. Raytheon (?) and Lockheed Martin have lined their pockets nicely, thank you very much.

How about those Jews bombing parts of America, raping women who contest their right? How about air strikes? America doesn't seem to scramble planes very quickly when needed. They might catch you out.

News / Poland will take half a century to catch up with the West [240]

Point taken about some British hospitals, Iwona. Still, I was surprised that, when I was in Aberdeen in July, that I had to wash my hands with a special substance. Ultra hygienic.

Why are you in the UK may I ask? Career development?

WWII, give it a break, would you? Europe should NOT support those who advocate terrorism and swiping of land. Correct me if I am wrong but Sharon was the PM after WWII for many years. Should we have supported him?

Conflicts are avoidable, you should know that.
you talk of rights, Hateful Bunch. I don't think the Likud really value them

Olmert, you say? He has no practical solutions. How does an Arab-Israeli feel when the national anthem criticises them? The British anthem was like that, insulting to Scots and it's downright divisive.

Not at all. Most Scots are aware of their history and culture.

Still, more importantly, they are aware of their present and future.

UK, Ireland / POLES SUPERIOR TO BRITS? [260]

For a long time, this was hard WB. I wonder if P3 would change his tune had he lived under the conservative administrations of Britain. I guess so. Family values were the buzz words a lot of the time.

USA, Canada / Why would someone leave Poland for the US? [120]

He's a man that will listen to the right people, high-ranking weapons inspectors being foremost on my mind.

I fear for his life though. He needs maximum security.

I second that, WB. There are chinks in his armour but he is a breath of fresh air. Have a look at the debates between himself and McCain.

I don't think Obama has the ultimate say in this financial crisis though. It's all about timing and the corporations are disclosing it in their own way.

Nice, Crow. Some truth has come out.

As I said, WB, in ways. He doesn't believe in an inside job so he can take a running jump.

Look at what Gurion, the first PM of Israel said, at 1.15-1.17.

Care to comment, Hateful Bunch? Oh, and while you are at it, at 2.26. Sharon says "the dirty work of Zionism". Care to explain?

I agree, Wahldo. The PNAC must be abolished. Neocon loonies!! America is the target of abuse due to its continued expansion in involvement internationally.

WB, rescue packages can come about. So much is butchered these days. Don't believe the spin they throw out. The problem is that the greedy have caused this.

NATO bombed the hell out of Serbia. I liked Clinton in ways but he misjudged this. Why? He didn't see the full picture. Where's the restoration of peace there?

I don't deny that searching for a new homeland was wrong. It isn't. Look what it has caused tho. My informed colleague, yehudi, told me that Israelis have pulled out of Gaza (2006). Still, just this morning I read that Hamas have broken the ceasefire by firing rockets into sensitive areas. That was from BBC who are pro-Israel. The situation is more complicated than that. Peace my ass!

Not Zionism in a negative way, you judge by deeds. There is no paranoia on my part, just an attempt to discuss which is what a forum is for.

I have no vested interest in the matter. In fact, my Mum's maiden name is Jewish so I must have Jewish ancestry way back.

News / Is the E.U. good for Poland?? [180]

People just need the fullest picture before they go making judgements. I always try to do as much research as I can before forming opinions.

True, Crow. Withholding of important incriminating evidence is a crime. Read Prof R.D Jones on the Tribunal for Yugoslavia. An expensive treatise on the issue but thorough.

Come on Obama, restore pride to US administration. No more fake confessions, pretexts, butchering evidence and wrongly labelling people.

Make America strong and respectable again.

News / Poles, get ready for mass migration from Russia ! [50]

I wish there were more guys like you. Too many people form enclaves abroad, most nations' people do it.

It's worth trying to break down some barriers too. I vividly remember one of my first nights in Izumo, Japan. It's a city but highly rural. I was with my Canadian roommate and speaking English. The Japanese at the bar were frowning at us. After a few more drinks and some laid back behaviour from us, they invited us to do some karaoke with them.

Hell yeah, it was fun.

I'm just listening to Poles helping the Russians on TVN Fakty. The way it should be.

The best way to counter, as you well know my learned friend, is with reason. Declarations of supremacy/superiority smacks of sth more sinister.

I wasn't aware of any competition. I believe in embracing other cultures, I love doing this when I travel and usually buy a souvenir as a reminder of that country. Every country has its history/culture and promotes it through various outlets. Impact on European culture? Scottish culture is quite different from English culture, yet we live on the same island. Imposing culture isn't 'noble', sharing is. What is European culture?

Land can be acquired in many ways, imperialism being one of them.

Scotland has very rich cultural traditions and history but I wouldn't describe it as "superior", just different.

A lot of past simple used there, David :)

Stereotypical indeed.

Also, he meant Northern Ireland, which, incidentally, is part of the UK.

Britain is comprised of 3 countries. Ireland is a separate country from Britain.

Hehehe, nah, the Russian bear has become a stock phrase now for your global reemergence as a power to be reckoned with.
