Life / How to find a user on auction onet.pl? [5]

You can go here aukcja.onet.pl/search_form.php and enter something in this field:

Nazwa użytkownika lub adres e-mail (Username or email address) - on the bottom of the page

But I think you should have exact match only..

Life / How to find a user on auction onet.pl? [5]

So you only have first 3 letters of the email? Like abc*********@poczta.onet.pl? I don't think there are public @onet.pl email accounts.

Real Estate / How much rent do you pay in Poland? [18]

More like 3500 to 5000 PLN for a 130 meter square

One person needs no more than 40-50 square meter apartment to comfortably live in so I think 2,000 a month, including utilities will still be enough.

Law / Opening a language school in Poland. Is it too late? [13]

The market in Wroclaw seems to be saturated. However, there's always room for original ideas - to offer what the competition doesn't offer. Since now English is taught in throughout almost the entire education of a student (starting with primary school), I think the most money to be made is in providing one-to-one specialized tutoring services. The problem is that most Poles know English well enough to understand it, but as far as speaking English is concerned, there are usually big problems. Same for specialized vocabulary. So focusing on intensive one-to-one tutoring and specializations may be a way to go.

Real Estate / How much rent do you pay in Poland? [18]

I think you shouldn't have a big problem to find an apartment to rent in Wroclaw (in Krakow too) for 2,000 zl a month. Wroclaw seems slightly cheaper. Depends on the location - not in downtown for sure. Broadband Internet may cost up to 70-100 zl a month, but the 2,000 zl should cover that as well as the heating. Especially if you look for a long term like 12 months and not only for the summer months.

You may check these links (in Polish): Apartments to rent in Wroclaw, Apartments to rent in Krakow.

Food / Polish Marinated Mushroom Recipe [8]

I think you need to add hot water, some pepper, garlic and onion to mushrooms and put it in a jar.

Life / Polish Music Scene [9]

are indie/mod/retro genres popular in Poland?

Not really, I guess. I think there's quite aggressive competition on the unsigned music scene. But I could be wrong.

Life / Name Days in Poland. [36]

The reason could be that she was given the name after a saint (in this case Saint Monika). Then the "default" name day date that should be the first date after the birth date is "overridden"; thus, the name day is when the particular saint's day is.

Travel / Upside Down House in Kaszuby, Poland [8]

There's a nice attraction in the Kaszuby area (by the Baltic sea, North of Poland) - "House on the Head." A similar one is in Orlando, Florida.

Here is the picture of the upside-down house in Poland.

News / Poland biggest problem [125]

Selling out whatever possible to foreign investors (be it land, real estate, businesses) - that will fight back quickly. Now in some regions most companies are 100% foreign-owned and Poles are just regular workers there. Not owners.

News / Poland biggest problem [125]

Another big problem - Poland is losing its own identity and copies too much from the western, "plastic" cultures (consumption, relativism). As the pope Benedict said, Poland is now in a big danger of becoming a country of non-believers who believe only in materialistic stuff (similar to Czech people).

Corruption on many levels.

Old-fashioned business laws that hinder development and promote bureaucracy.

Life / Poor Poland? [34]

Visiting Poland (or any other country) on vacation is always great. I was in Costa Rica once and it was great being there; still, most natives didn't look happy despite of great weather, good food, and nice beaches. If you have to live on an average salary in Poland the reality isn't that bright and pink...

Life / Poor Poland? [34]

You need to understand the motifs of Poles who buy stuff in Poland. Most of them cannot afford to buy a house (or don't like the idea of paying 40 year mortgage for an apartment) so they focus on buying less expensive things, like good cars, computers etc.

Real Estate / Gliwice estate agents / caravan parks [6]

Poles generally like dogs, but I would suggest you not to live in the center as there aren't many designated parks to walk a dog there. Gliwice is an induatrial city, not very exciting at first.
