UK, Ireland / Supermarkets in Poland: differences and similarities to the UK. [62]

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned - Tesco is regarded by many people (at least in Poznań) as being a supermarket for poorer people. Certainly, the prices and the appearance of the shop look more like Lidl in the UK as opposed to Tesco.

i Love Polish tesco and Polish lidl and i personally never came accross someone regarding to those shops as 'for poor people'. more like for people who wanna save money, like it's always been with shopping in supermarkets. pardon me, Hipermarkets lol. it's not just the 'poorer' people that go there. also i don't see much of a difference between real and tesco or example. and in England there is quite a gap between prices in say Asda and Waitrose, although i live not far from a Waitrose and i find that it's not that bad, they just have more fancy stuff but Waitrose own brand produce is on about the same (price and quality) level as for example Tesco Finest stuff. Waitrose Jambalaya mmm lol. Polish supermarkets have a much bigger variety of products especially when it comes to fish and meat. i always remember being a kid it was such an exciting trip going to the hipermarkets ha ha. i've not been to Auchan or Leroy Merlin mind you.

The Poles are just victims of their own temperaments at times.

it's hard not to lose it sometimes with you British people ha ha!

You can get half loaves which should be enough for a couple of days.

Lacking their own initiative? Poles are blamed left, right and centre by foreigners for that here.

never heard that before. the Poles i met over here and had a pleasure to work with learnt much quicker, didn't need guidance all the time and quickly took initiative, came up with their own ideas and became a great help to me. i've seen too many slacking, lazy Brits of all ages and walks of life who would pull sickies everytime they got a job or a project they did not like and make up things like depression or' fear of driving the company car' so other people did it for them. oh well, thanks to the recession bad apples like that are being removed very quickly :)...

Carry in if you wish.

wouldn't want to upset you ;)

Buy 3/4's ;)

can you get that?! i think i just need a decent chlebak :D

Many are laid back I guess, in their own way.

oh yeah so laid back and chilled they almost trip over their own feet! lol. i find the British more relaxed and easy going, but also many are lacking the 'get up and go', they do everything in their own time and they can be pretty sh*t team mates at work cos they never seem to rush with anything, often lack their own initiative and can be pretty unreliable and forgetful. should i carry on? lol...

Yeah, Polish bread that lasts about 1 day before it begins to go off.

i give up with bread, no matter what bread i get it goes off before i manage to go throgh half of the loaf. i tried buying halves but then it's not enough! i can't win! :/ :D

amazing moments when natives singing the song along with the radio ;)

you should hear one of the guys i work with, he's terrible. i remember when i first met him and his desk was next to mine, i was sat there working away and i heard this disturbing noise. it sounded like someone was in pain and moaning! i turned to my right and it was the guy. i was like 'Are you ok???' and he said yeah i'm just singing. o.O (...) we play 'guess the tune' when he's at it and you can only figure them songs out by lyrics cos he is completely tone deaf. i tried recording him but he's very shy.

I'm loving it, it's pretty good! Thank you once again, you're my star!

anytime ;)

England and it's people aren't as bad as some people make them out to be, they helped me out so much more than my fellow Poles ever have. if it wasn't for my bf i'd probably go back to Poland though lol...

Love / My Polish boyfriend and his drinking habit. [60]

by the sounds of it i'm pretty sure we can guess his side of the story. if like you said he was drinking because of her, which is quite a rubbish comment by the way, he wouldn't be sick in her flat, make her clean it up and push her around if she refused. he would just dump her. they've been together for a couple of months, not a couple of decades.

I guess we just assume he's a bastard because he likes to booze once in awhile.

every night is not once in a while, it's alcoholism or at best binge drinking. plus he attacked the girl so yes it makes him a bastard and she's better off without him. you a 'casual' drinker and 'casual' female boxer like that yourself? is that why you're defending him?

edit: i know, you're defending him to annoy all the 'limeys'

True love is when you suffer beatings, abuses, offences etc for years and constantly try to correct your partner and never give up!!!

thats more like being a masochist and loving every slap and kick! ;)

Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

You scoff at male Poles because you hate your connection with Poland

ha ha ha what other crap can you possibly come up with? there's another Polish w*nker here just like you and i got an email from him a some time ago with the same sort of accusations based on absolutely nothing more than your idiotic assumptions, like me being ashamed of my nationality, me being a dumb village girl from a poor family or me feeling superior to Poles in Poland. if i was so ashamed of being Polish and having Polish roots i would not admit to it on here, i could easily conceal my nationality if i wanted to. i don't fancy Polish guys so according to that i am trying not to be Polish, i hate my heritage, i date Brits cos it makes me feel better about myself etc. etc. what a load of crap. i prefer British guys cos they're nicer and more attractive to me, more appealing and with better taste, better dressed, more polite and easy going. why is it such a crime for a Polish woman to date someone foreign, can you not get that into that thick skull that it doesn't automatically mean she feels better and more accomplished for having a partner who is anything else but Polish cos that's better? do you really think so low of yourself that you assume any guy other than Polish will be a better choice? that's so sad. did those Polish girls you met actually say they are dating foreigners cos it 'elevates' their social status? i don't think so, you just assumed that again. i'd go out with my bf if he was Polish, German, Italian anything but he happens to be British and he's not some super rich businessman, i'm not after his money or his social status cos he's just a normal person like me. i don't need a foreign man to feel better about myself, i'm doing well for myself and i would never depend on a man to 'elevate' me to some status i can't possibly be at cos of my nationality. you're a stupid man if you think that and your nickname won't help you. now go laugh with your fiancee about what a stupid b*tch she is some more, i'm sure forum members will have a laugh at that too.

I cannot say that about myself. I am the only one who is responsible;)

ha ha that happens too! welcome back, i see you got the news about someone being taken care of ;)

Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

my comments are not stupid, they are valid in so many cases ha ha! double standards... i stick up for girls for obvious reasons, i don't like some random Polaks popping up here and critisising PL women for no reason whilst they are getting married to one, then trying to belittle me cos i'm not being 'typical' for not dating a Polish guy. or coming from the countryside ha ha. how come is it such an offence to say someone is from a small town? oh my god i'm gonna burn with shame, i come from a town with less then 10.000 residents!!!

Bet a months pay you're from a little town and a poor family too :)

another typical comment, trying to belittle and judge by this stupid thinking that if someone is not from Warsaw or Krakow they must be uneducated and dumb. the town i come from is not big but my family definitely aren't poor. but then why should i need to justify myself to some unlikable stuck up Polak? for some funny reason Polish guys also think that if a Polish female dates a foreigner she needs to validate her self worth. boohoo Polish guys ain't good enough for her boohoo. get over yourself, just cos they're not being 'typical' Polish women dating and 'obeying' Polish guys doesn't mean they suffer from inferiority complex. maybe they just find foreign men more appealing? it's a personal preference, not a step up the social status ladder. although a break from dating guys like you can really put a smile on a girls face!

unlikable stuck up girl

funnily enough i only ever hear that comment from men i turned down when they asked me out ha ha

unless you are going to allow people to express their negative opinions about polish women like you have about polish men, you are going to look like a typical hypocrite

there are negative opinions and there are comments like 'polish women are not obedient enough, bitchy and validating their self esteem by dating foreigners'. i am so better off without Polish losers like that, who think they can conquer the world with their big gob and always are so two faced with their women. by the way, if i was making stupid comments about Polish women and then critisising someone for making stupid comments about Polish women then THAT would make me a hypocrite, wouldn't it :).

Why do i get the feeling that you're dating a foreigner and suffering from a typical "a Pole abroad" syndrome and snorting down your nose on fellow Poles ?:)

just stating the obvious, Polish girls don't let themselves go when they come here but guys for some reason do. i'm dating a foreigner cos i think Polish guys are overrated and i am truly sick of them. especially the ones back in Poland "snorting down their noses" on fellow Poles who went abroad. i have nothing against my fellow country people, i have just about the same amount of PL and UK friends. as for me being a "typical" Pole abroad, been here over 4 years and to be honest it's not as great as some people make it out to be, but still life here is better than it is in Poland in so many ways.

Of course your reply proves my point about general bitchiness of polish girls

i only get bitchy when i see some stuck up Polak who thinks he knows better than everyone else.

What are you, some kind of a warring feminist or plain dumb ?

when one defends their fellow women's dignity does that make them a feminist? interesting theory. that's by the way very nice of you to talk crap about Polish women when you're getting married to one, but that's another trait of Polish guys - nice and obedient when with their woman, slagging her off when she's not there just cos you're too scared to tell her what you don't like about her. you are such a typical Polish guy it makes me wanna laugh.

Oh they're sweet and all that rubbish, for the first few weeks, once you adopt them for good the inner bitch finds its way but there's pros to them as well :)

another pussy whipped Polak who can only express his bitterness over a failed relationship with a Polish woman by slagging off all Polish women.

saw about five Polish guys in the shop today and God they looked well rough. what is the matter with you, guys? it's like once they escape their mother's or wife's nest they turn into complete slobs. greasy hair, smelly feet, dirty clothes... yuck.
