Language / Any sweet Polish phrases [255]

Sorry me again what is honey or sweetheart to say to a man?

Another thing you can use is for honey/sweetheart is "skarbie" (to a man). Literally means "treasure" (I think).

translating things word by word is hardly ever a good idea

True, Poor Edward is making an effort, which is to be commended. Ed, are you taking lessons?

hand-held electronic translator

Good investment, mine has hangman and quiz games on it. Ideal as educational games whilst you're travelling...

Nope, it won't work for me

I could PM you a link to the files on my computer...

Toty, go to Poland for a couple of weeks. Treat it as a holiday. Don't spend too much money on this girl. If you get a relationship from this visit then we will all be surprised. When you have finished college make the effort to learn Polish.

Feedback / Mods: why is my request removed each time? [36]

why was it moved to Random Chat

Random chat is where all the postings that don't adhere to the rules are moved to. Send your friends the message in English and a link to this website. Then they can get it translated!

What's that got to do with anything mate?

Ok, they may not be both in the US, but all I was saying is that they aren't online all the time. They go online see a "load" of translation requests and bin some of them...

Not exactly a case for Mulder and Scully!

one request for a couple of sentences

Before that there were quite a few song lyric translation requests...
You must remember that the mods are in the US. They came online and probably saw all your requests at once. They are just trying to keep the forum balanced...

Love / i will visit poland to see my love [77]

why its impossiple to konw this

Different people would spend different amounts of money. When I am there I probably spend 400PLN per day plus accomodation. If you are staying and dining with friends then you won't need much money at all.

Hi toty. Many people ask are asking a similar question "how much money should I bring?". It is impossible to know. That is why you have had no answers.

Anyway, good luck with your trip to see your girl.

Life / A bad hand a scrabble... insulting? [10]

It reminds me of the joke...
Polish man goes into an opticians...
Optician covers one eye up and says to the bloke...
"Can you read the top line ?"
Polish man says " Read it ! I know him "
Seriously though, when I first starting learning Polish I found lots of problems pronouncing words which had sequences of letters which I wasn't used to, such as Grzegorz, or Gdzie.
