News / Polish engineer beheaded in Pakistan. [347]

Oh, I agree but should that preclude the trying? This is just the pretext that is needed. I don't like how pretexts are used as political opportunism but it's a sign of the times. Maybe this will show that we can actually value even 1 human life and that war is not all about chalking up stats. Sadly, life doesn't work that way.

Life / 52% Poles: life in Poland is bad... [46]

Poland, like almost every other nation, is guilty of bandwagon jumping. When their mates start saying that Poland is bad in whatever respect, others follow suit. Moods and responses are determined by numerous factors, not least the prevailing political climate (and views of their buddies).

UK, Ireland / Life in the UK for some Poles (sad article) [124]

Herein lies the duality and the concomitant suicides. Samo sloga Polska spasava. The greatest thing for Poles would be to realise all the good things around them and read Desiderata (God give me the courage to accept the things I cannot change etc).

It really depends on who was surveyed and, as Osioł tacitly implies, when. Survey people with their families at Xmas time and you may find that the figure is as high as 90%. Given that the Poles are a highly family-orientated (oriented) culture, maybe even higher.

Life / Moving back to Poland after 20 unhappy years in Canada and USA [70]

No offence pcanuck, you made some great points and were spot on. BUT, you can't always apply logic to the Polish psyche. They have a super education system here in many ways but contrive to pick up dead-end jobs after graduating. Trust me, it's a deeply ingrained notion in many that working abroad simply presents a more viable money making option. They have the best of intentions to set up shop back home but it turns sour too easily and they become disillusioned. That's why you see 20 years wasted and not merely 1 or 2, for example, when a teacher goes abroad and wonders what they gained in that time.

Nonetheless, we need to look beyond martyrdom as it is a mainstay in their mindset. We have to look at our values of justice and retribution and act accordingly. To do otherwise would be to admit that the whole underpinning rationale of the War on Terror is phony ;) We can scarcely afford to make such dangerous admissions in a political sense. We can't fear martyrdom if we are indeed fighting the good fight.

Come again with the A-Z? I meant that they had to list their associations of Poland. V was vodka for example etc etc.

I know this, yes. Not only the Egyptians, 7 other intel agencies plus numerous isolated reportings. Russia, Morocco, Britain, Germany, France, Italy and even Sudan proferred info.

Look at 9/11 truth, they have MANY instances charted chronologically. You can question the veracity as you should but they can't all be lies.

The only thing I disagree with is your final part. The Mossad DIDN'T provide key info to the US govt and that was the problem. They were tracking the terrorists for months but didn't even inform top personnel. Rumour has it that some did but the barrier between the FBI and CIA was just too large.

I can post you all number of credible sources on request. Make a study of it, you will unearth some startling revelations.

News / "We buy out Poland, Hungary, and Romania!" - the President of Israel [74]

Ach, words are often taken out of context anyway. Just like the forum, who knows the intention and circumstances behind the words?

An example, I wrote, 'Hey, you' to my female friend today. She thought I was being abrupt but those 2 words can be interpreted in so many ways. Aggressively, yes. I meant it as 'Hi there, you (friendly)'. Hey you, Jimmy is pretty funny in Scottish.

So, cheers to good intentions :)

This was maybe a blessing in disguise and I mean that in the nicest possible way. Maybe Pakistan will start valuing international opinion and allow revenge squads in.

A War on Terror should not be impeded like it is.

USA, Canada / Polish Vodkas for American Pub [49]

It would be good if it had a Polish connection and some allusion to vodka. Vodka can make you big bucks, Sledz.

I dunno, Vodkania?? Something along those lines

Life / Warsaw - most boring capital in Europe, after Brussels - comments? [78]

I wasn't with my fiancee either time. Oh, it's an enormous place so I can't form a rounded perspective based on 2 short visits. The food options are much better so many baby is happy ;)

The leash is reserved for special occasions ;)

Study / AGH Studying (Computer Science) in Poland [20]

As I gather, Poland is at the cutting edge of this discipline. Most faculties are well equipped and offer ample resources to budding students.

What paranoia? I was talking about the merits of investment and dtaylor backed me up on this. HB, must you always take me wrong? If that is indeed a quote then a buy out is pretty clear to any native speaker. You take over the business concern in question.

You have just bolstered what I and my main man dtaylor were saying, that investment is a good thing.

So, your point please!!
