Love / Difficult Polish girlfriend - how long would you put up with her? My story. [68]

To be honest the girl in the story could be from any nation in the world, let alone Poland. I can safely say there are English girls like this too!!!!! I've always found PF funny for its 'Polish people are like this' and 'Polish people are like that' you can even replace the word 'Polish' with 'English' or 'American' sometimes.

I think you have to look at this situation as a 'female' rather than a 'Polish female'

News / Euro Elections 4th June - Who will you vote for ? [110]

I'm going to vote UKIP, its nice to know i can vote against europe without having to vote for the BNP. THe mainstream parties have showed me their worth and it isn't much. I've never really been pro europe, i understand there are pros and cons of being part of the European family, however i feel the UK needs to pick itself up let alone the smaller nations joining the EU.

UK, Ireland / POLES SUPERIOR TO BRITS? [260]

While everybody is welcome to their own point of view, why even bother lowering yourself to answer the original poster. It was only written to get people's backs up and for a bit of self-amusement.

I do find it strange how a 'Pole' should talk about being 'superior' to another race, i mean isn't that how a certain Austrian dictator started out :) You would have thought the Poles, especially would understand where talk like this ends up :)

UK, Ireland / ENGLISHMAN JAILED FOR HAMMER ATTACK ON POLISH GIRL [24]

there is a simple way to deal with people who do things like this, put them down, there is no room for men in this world who attack women in this way. It is one of the most disgusting things a man can do!!!!

UK, Ireland / Poles flee N. Irleand homes after World Cup riots [70]

Its the same with English fans, the minority spoil football these days for the majority, just look at thow the United and Chelsea fans were treated in Russia because of the reputation that follows our football fans.

UK, Ireland / Poles flee N. Irleand homes after World Cup riots [70]

The simple problem was the Polish football Hooligans at the game, if they had not of kicked off, none of this would be happening now. Granted some people will use any excuse to pick on and attack others, however the Poles have shot themselves in the foot here by being bad losers.

Rubbish! Nationality defines attractivness, polish women are divine and polish men are fugly, except me.

Trust me there are a fair few ugly Polish women about.

History / germany prepares for invasion of Poland [43]

Everything that Germany did in the war was wrong of course but i just can't help admiring their amazing war machine in operations such as blitzkrieg and barbarossa. In my view they are probably only second in history to the Roman war machine.

Love / About Personal Problems (English / Polish relationships) [32]

I would so much to have been here at the beginning of this topic, i think to much has past for me to make a comment. To sum up though i don't think you need to be 'qualified' to asnwer any one problem, you are after all just giving your opinion. Having an opinion does not need a qualification in fact it comes under the freedom of speech does it not??? :)

Your right about looking back at old threads and past fallings outs/disagreements/arguments etc etc. I do sometimes browse to see what has been said in the past and by who. I even look at what i have said and question whether or not i would have said the same now as i did then :)

i agree with the group hug :):):)

UK, Ireland / WHY DO POLISH PEOPLE THAT COME TO ENGLAND CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH? [118]

There should be rules in place to protect such people from such employers. It's them I blame more than the workers themselves in most cases.

that is exactly the point, i have been talking ever since i joined PF about a proper structured immigration policy, if i can see it why can't the government???

Some more polish feet.

polish feet??? Can feet be nice, i mean i think i remember on more than one occassion the subject of 'feet' coming up on this forum. While some Polish girls, infact any girls from anywhere can have nice feet, surely it is the last thing you look at?? What i mean is you start from the head and work your way down, don't you???

UK, Ireland / WHY DO POLISH PEOPLE THAT COME TO ENGLAND CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH? [118]

That bugs me too, as well as the fact that people with such a poor command of the language end up with jobs in the first place.

it is not really the fault of the person employed, it is the fault of the employer, however at the same time. If you are not fit for the job and you probably would consider when dealing with the English public that a grasp of the language maybe helpful but yet still apply for such jobs!!!!.

Yet isn't that exactly what British and American people do on this site about Poland ?

Look at some of the threads on here where the complaints about Poland are numerous and how many British and American people can speak Polish.

we are not talking about British people abroad, we are talking about THIS country and the people in THIS country, not those outside of it. So could we please keep this on 'topic' your a teacher so you can read the topic i assume :). It really annoys me when you get all high and mighty, don't do it!!!

It's the same the world over and is not unique to Polish people in the UK. It's fairly obvious that people will use their native language first if they are with family or friends , whichever Country they happen to be in.

as i said above, i was not picking on the Polish but this is a Polish forum, is it not??

I don't care when the Polish speak Polish, i just care about them being able to have a conversation when providing me with a service, is that to much to ask??

If a Company recruits foreign workers and puts them into a job where they have to speak to people then it's the Company's fault for recruiting the wrong people don't you think ? You can't blame foreigners if they apply for a job and they are put into the wrong job function can you ?

i've covered that above, there is blame with both parties, i don't apply for jobs that ask me to speak Dutch because i cannot speak it. Surely its the same for Poles who cannot speak English, work in a factory, not at the front of a shop directly involved with customers.

How do you know they aren't trying to 'fit in' as you put it ? You just said yourself that when they turn round to you they attempt to speak in English. Surely that is trying to 'fit in' ? It's hard to learn a foreign language and assimilate oneself into another Country, it isn't as easy as you think it may be. Go and live in Poland for a while <or any other foreign country > and feel the experience first hand for yourself.

I don't mind people attempting to speak English, in fact at university/college etc etc i used to help Polish/French etc etc with a bit of English language here and there. The problem arises when you put people who cannot speak english, in a position where they need to speak it.

why do english people that come to poland cant speak polish?
why do english people that come to spain cant speak spanish?

i have been in so many bars in spain where i have to speak english because the fuc*ing waiter cant speak spanish , so fuc* this thread

ps : and not only that , you do the force to speak english with the waiter and look like you are from other planet in your own country

lol, as i said above, read the topic :)

UK, Ireland / WHY DO POLISH PEOPLE THAT COME TO ENGLAND CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH? [118]

Of course not, Why would they? It is completely artifical and odd.
But If there are Polish and English as a group and Polish people speak between themselves in polish it is rude and doesn't show good manner. I never do it.

Hang on a second love i wasn't trying to point out the Polish and just the Polish, it was an example. I was mearly asking the question why it seems some people are willing to try and fit in where others are not so willing. Surely speaking English amongst yourselves, be it a group of Poles, Koreans, Spanish or whatever means your English vocab will improve, am i wrong??

The point is, i go into Subway for a sandwich, i hear people gobbing off in Polish and then when they turn to speak English to you, you can't understand a word they say and they can't understand you. If they were working with English people, the language skills would be better, the more you speak the lingo the better at it you will become.

why dont you say that the polish people are rude and that it !!!

no mate i don't think they are all rude, of course there are a few, i'm just asking why some feel the need to slag the country off yet don't make any attempt to 'fit in' and what bugs me more is when they work in jobs that include communication with the customer and cannot speak understandable English.

UK, Ireland / 10,000 Poles in UK for free abortions [58]

lol, while i take your point i think it may have something to do with forgetting the contraception and not using condoms because it feels better rather than any guilt felt towards god :)

I've never really been sure about where i stand with abortion, who wants an unwanted and unplanned child? Who wants a child on the planet with parents who are not fit to bring them into this world?? However on the other hand who has the right to choose who lives and dies?? Does anybody have the right to play god?? You see what i mean

UK, Ireland / 10,000 Poles in UK for free abortions [58]

It also forbids premarital intercourse, so you see how much the people involved care for religious doctrine.

lol, i don't think i've met a serious Polish Catholic yet :). I mean one that does not have sexual intercourse before marriage or even worse, having sexual intercourse before marriage and using contraception :)

UK, Ireland / 10,000 Poles in UK for free abortions [58]

Ten thousand Polish women had abortions in Britain last year, it has been reported, in procedures which are thought to have cost the NHS between £5million and £10m.

tut tut it seems that Polish ladies are not up to date when it comes to the 'safe sex' thing :). Then again am i correct in saying the catholic religion forbids the use of contraception??? If so maybe its just a case of the women keeping their knickers on.

As for those who come here just for an abortion, well if the proper checks were in place and the correct immigration procedures in place they would never get in the country in the first place.

UK, Ireland / WHY DO POLISH PEOPLE THAT COME TO ENGLAND CAN'T SPEAK ENGLISH? [118]

I think i've touched on this before, i think it has a lot to do with what happens when you arrive in the uk, i am going to talk specificaly about Polish people as this is a Polish forum, so its not just a problem i find with Poles.

OK here goes, there are two groups of people in a KFC (no i'm not making this up) a group of Polish (I know and understand a bit of Polish when i hear it) and some Koreans (I know because i went over to speak to them) 3 Polish girls and one guy, all Korean girls.

I didn't realise until i sat down with my friends that the Koreans were all speaking English even though they were not with anybody who didn't speak the Korean language. One of them happened to ask my friend for some ketchup as they could not be bothered to que up and wait 20 mins to get a few from the counter. So i took the oppertunity to ask where they were from etc etc. We got onto talking about language and i asked why three Koreans would be speaking English when none of the people round the table did not speak Korean. She simply said 'When we are in England we practice our English whenever possible so that our vocabulary improves'. To be honest i was impressed and told her that in my opinion it was an unusual but welcomed approach.

All through our conversation the group of Poles were just speaking Polish, not one word of ENglish was spoken. Not only the KFC incident, i have also had a few more experiences with different groups of friends where the Polish at their house parties etc speak just Polish, even when there is a population of English or other nationalities present. I do not find this with Austrians, Germans or even the French.

I have come to the conclusion that it is about effort and a willingness to join in and be part of the society around you and willing to mix with those in the local community. I have no problem with four or five foreign nationals living in a house together as long as they have the basic English language skills to work and communicate outside of that house.

I know through experience that people (British) feel that the Polish do not make an effort to blend in, well this isn't the case at all, its just they tend not to speak English with each other when in a group of Poles. I've said enough for now and there is plenty more to say, thought i would just throw it out there and see what you thought

Thnx

News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

Anyway, why bring up the past? To learn from it. It's not to cause bitterness and hatred today. It's more about confronting it and discussing it. I am not going to pretend like Britain didn't have any responsibility whatsoever.

so can you please tell me what you have learnt through debating the same thing over and over and over again, at least since i have been a member, how have you moved forward?? Can you take me through it??

That's another fallacy. It wasn't just the Jews. It was an entire country. Germany wanted to completely obliterate Poland and Europe did nothing.
Quit trying to divide and conquer!!! The people who died were POLISH!!!!

yeah the only people who died in the war were 'POLISH' i get it.

Dosen't matter how many Russians died, dosen't matter how many Americans died, neither the Japanese, as long as we account for a few Polaks then sod the rest :)

News / What did Poland get out of the wars and struggles for others? [1108]

Oh PLEASE!!!!! How many degrading, anti Polish posts have been posted by British members of this forum???? It seems like a free-for-all and relentless bashing. That is what I am responding to. Just who is it, really? Who are the ones taking out their bitterness on other members of this forum?

lol, i did say this topic, not the forum, i was refering to this 'individual topic' and not the whole website.

Usually those anti-polish posts are written by people who are just looking for a fight, those who are not regular members, however when the Polish have a crack back its by members who are supposed to be well respected long standing posters of PF.

What about all those negative stereotypes attributed to pompous british who's superiority is rooted in ignorance alone????? Why not stop attributing to those?

you can say what you like about the British, to be honest i don't care, i just find it strange how the 'bigger, better more respectable members' are those throwing the dirt back at those who just roll up for a few posts.

Why are you confusing "take out bitterness" with history?

its one in the same, the Polish are bitter about the history, what else is there to say.

Sorry if the truth about the past is not always pleasent but this should not alter relationships today. If anything it should make them more open and honest.

I'm not shy of hearing about a few million people being executed for being Jewish, i went to history lessons you know, i don't think its right, i hate those that partook in the actions in the past. However the past is the past, how about laying your bitterness aside as its never going to be cleared up. You may aswell live for today and tommorow, rather than yesterday.

You don't hear the British banging on about the bombings of London, Exeter, Coventry etc etc. Granted its death on a smaller scale to that of the Jews but still its about moving forward.

lol, another topic where the Poles get to take out their bitterness of the past out on the other members of the forum, this time it just happens to be the British because we didn't 'save' Poland even though it was geographically and militarily impossible. Get over it and live in the present, on the whole Poland is ok, the British and the Poles have a decent relationship so lets leave it at that

Life / Lebanese willing to Move to Poland. [18]

as whole?

i meant as a whole

During the Israel-Hezbollah war in summer 2006 , major war crimes were committed by Israel .Israel 's attacks and invasion were/are a serious breach of international law .There is no legal justification to whatsoever they did, from any point you would like to stand. It was a tragedy.

I'm going to stick my kneck out here and say i stand on the side of the Lebanese, does that mean i'm a Hezbollah sympathyser?? Or just on the side that has suffered the terrible war crimes??

Iranian Islamist government as well

why do you fear them?? is it the potential threat they cause to you directly or is it because of the obvious backing they give to Hezbollah. The Iranians use Hezbollah as a tool to instigate a battle with the Isreali's so they don't seem to be playing an 'actual' roll in it all so the US does not react.

By the way you don't have to be an ''active'' member or partisan of Hezbollah to be a pro-Hezbollah.

I'm not an Arab, neither do i speak a word of Arabic, well thats a lie i know a few words. I think my problem is i don't know who the hell to support and how, i've seen many articles, documentaries etc etc on the conflict and the only representation the Lebanese people seem to have against the Isreali's is Hezbollah. (well actively anyway)

pro-Hezbollah at all

would you admit it on a public forum even if you were?? my thoughts are probably not, so who are you in support off, the Lebanese people, the Arab people?? or something else??
