News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

This is why it is so hard for outsiders to break in, the family unit is so compact.

Still, it's a strength for sure. Loyal, I agree with that too. It depends how much drink they've had I guess ;)

Strong work ethic, again I agree. Like everywhere, they have their slackers but necessity ensures that they plough away daily.

Passionate, yes and no. When they are, it's VERY visible. Sometimes they can be deadheaded mumlaks but I associate Poles with being passionate for the most part. This is why Scots get on with them.

Some women are lovely, some are a ballache of the n-th degree.

I wasn't there for that, maybe. It's the Selkirk Grace, the toast before eating haggis on Burns Night.

He wasn't a Rabbi, he was Rabbie ;)

Oh, I'm with you. It's the perception of people and the non-stop mentioning of it that is getting on my nerves. We have air, we can breathe. We have water, we can drink. We have food, we can eat.

For me, earnings are steady and I don't buy this large-scale paranoia (by those who know jack about economics) at all.

News / Forget Ukraine! The question is: " Is Poland going down??" [36]

A similar thing will happen to Poland as to Ireland. Too many getting swept up in illusory wealth and thinking they are actually doing really well when, at the chiming of a clock, things can turn around.

Only those who really control the wealth will keep well and truly afloat.

Poland is a gonna become a victim of paranoia and slip and slide like Britain and America. Poland WAS strong a couple of years back but is a credit society. Credit isn't looking too crash hot at the moment, now is it?

Love / How can a black man get a Polish women [248]

I do. At least you are honest with your feelings, I appreciate that. Not like all those who come out with racist slurs and then pretend to be fair and virtuous.

The classic racist crap that can be seen all too often. We are all aware of what happens when we see the targetting/singling out of a race.

I'm not saying that they should be allowed in in great numbers. I was just saying that some diversity is a good thing to a certain extent. Knowing that level is the key issue.

Poland is a member of the EU. Poles flocked to the UK in their droves. Why can't some Pakistani and Indian Brits come here to set up shop? What if many came? Many Brits believe that too many Poles came and it became problematic. How would you react if the boot was on the other foot?

Food / What is your favourite Polish meal?! [64]

Polish butter is pretty good. Oselka is tasty, not quite as good as Lurpak but quite ok. Kerrygold is nice, Irish butter.

Food / What is your favourite Polish meal?! [64]

Good idea, Lir. Cut back on the low density lipoproteins.

Oscypek is a bit salty and rubbery for my liking. Quite edible tho.

News / Poland..wake up to a multicultural world [1059]

Many foreigners are in Poland to teach, laddie. Get over it! Then explain to me why I can make over 6000PLN every month as a teacher? Not working weekends nor having any privates. Yes, I'm listening.

No, like Asian food (of any description) or other European offerings. Fine, be happy with your glorified peasant food. We feed the horses cabbage back home ;) Or scabby bread that barely lasts one day. I bought a loaf yesterday and all it's good for now is toasting.

Many Africans make very good doctors, you can't seriously deny that.

Z szerem? Is this Sean Connery day? Didn't you mean z serem (with cheese)? ;) ;) ;)

Isn't the Eagle supposed to be the symbol of Poland? Dumplings with cheese :) :)

At the same time, you can't aim for ethnic purity and practise avoidance of others too much. Foreigners in Poland are not here to undermine the good work of the Poles, far from it. We are here to educate, provide good food and offer sound medical advice amongst other things.

Variety is the spice of life!

Love / Whose Life is it? Polish girlfriend under family "house arrest" [224]

I was focussing on a limited segment of them. The ones I know went running off back to their main squeezes. This is just fact, not opinion. I try to see the good in people and I'm sure most get on with their lives admirably. However, some conniving little swines emerge from time to time.

Remember, it was a WOMAN who said, "Never trust a woman with your heart". Kim Wilde way back in the 80's.

Life / Does anyone know anything about Polish karaoke music? [8]

I've heard karaoke in Poland. It's not bad as some Polish women have super voices. 2 bars here offered it but both have since folded. There was a karaoke night at my school not too long ago. Still, nothing beats singing karaoke in Japan. I spent many a great night singing my lungs and heart out there.

Keep trying, Ireland32. Remember Desiderata, God give me the courage to accept the things I cannot change etc etc. All you can do is show your interest by pursuing the matter. Very few women don't like being pursued in such a way.

What's done is done. There is still some salvage work that can be done. Remember, fight the good fight and remind yourself that it's a noble cause.

As long as Poland honours the various agreements it signs, what's the problem? How many times have you heard a Pole say 'mam gdzieƛ' or 'mam w dupie?'? I make out that I don't understand what many of my students say but they often say 'brudasy' about other cultures. Poland fought hard to establish its borders, it doesn't need to be dictated to that it needs to be this way or that.

Life / The Polish Moustache [35]

Your uncle has a tache, Polson? He must have ditched it as he wasn't sporting it when I taught him at his company. A truly fine man he was though :)
