Ok, one job at a time,

Hypermarket...Minimum wage. 10k a year after tax maybe less.
Accountants...24k - 35k, depends on how qualified you are.
School Teachers...30k - 60k, a complete joke since they only need to work half a year.
Nurses...starting pay is around 13k-14k, but more senior positions will earn you about 30k-35k.

50k is more that enough to live on.

Love / About Personal Problems (English / Polish relationships) [32]

Is it because some of us might have experienced something similar ? Is it because some of us might have friends who have similar problems ? Is it just common sense ?

I think that many of the problem are down to communication. I find it strange sometimes why people come here to discuss them, and not with their "other".

Another problem I have is wondering why it is that the original poster gets all the sympathy when we haven't heard the other side of the story.

I doubt we will ever hear the other side of the story. Fireif is a good example of much what you have writte. But i don't think much, if not everything he says is the truth:/

I'd like to know why people cheat.

I cheated once, after i found out my ex had been seeing another guy. It was with her best friend, and it was stupid of me. But i was young and i think that many mistakes in a past relationships can be learned from.

And in fact a relationship might have been ruined because of one of our comments.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Cos you know, people should really take control of their own lives, and though sometimes it's good to get advice from others who are stranger. Often it can lead to the person doing the wrong thing:(

UK, Ireland / UK bus company boss jailed for hiring an incompetent Pole [71]

The standard of driving in Poland isn't good enough. And it's not just bus drivers. It's right accross the board.

You're correct with the average Tom Dick and Harry, but i've never had a problem on public transport.

News / Come on EU lets keep it together. [20]

The E.U is the sleeping superpower of the modern world. I agree, we need to drop these old fashioned idea's of seperate countries.

Law / Ikea suspends all investments in Poland [35]

elaborate please.

For example, one of the schools i work for, had to move from their location because the landlord raised the rent by 100%.

This is becoming quite the trend in Krakow, not only for business's, but for tennants.
My landlord raised the rent on my flat by 300pln, for no other reason than he could.

Law / Ikea suspends all investments in Poland [35]

Are other companies thinking of stopping investment? How are the likes of Carrefour affected for example

I'm not sure. Talking about Polish Products in the market, alot of the meat is bought in from the Ukraine.

but IKEA and the likes is a short term solution for that.

Maybe the law shouldn't discourage chains, but state that if they build in certain areas, the architectual look of the building must match with it's surroundings.

Law / Ikea suspends all investments in Poland [35]

Plus even if they did build in the center. In most Polish towns it would be a big improvement compared to some of the ****** looking commy buildings.

Law / Ikea suspends all investments in Poland [35]

It is not possible to build enormously big shoping mail in center of town

Isn't the point that building close to the center means its easier for people to get to?

For example, the IKEA in Krakow is an absolute nightmare to get to. I live in the center and it takes me 3 buses to get there.

I don't think IKEA is looking at this as "avoiding the law", but simply showing how gaff the law is.

Food / Krakow Restaurant Recommendations [17]

Polskie Jadło or Babcia would be my recommendations for good Polish Food.
Polskie Jadło has a place on the market square. For 200pln you can order a large platter for 4 people, with a good selection of everything Polish. From starters, main and dessert. Everything you could want to try is on it;)
