USA, Canada / I might be moving to Florida.... [36]

@rafik
But you should also learn some Spanish as well - i read there are many Mexicans, Puertoricans and other 'guests' for whom speaking English is passé :/

105.000£

That's a bummer indeed, that would buy me only 1-2 bedroom flat in Glasgow.

News / France to lift job restrictions on Poles [84]

It is not true to say that Poland was 'occupied'-rather Poland was protected from Western Capitalist invasion threats by Russia, which had, after all, given so much that Poland could live in Socialist peace and freedom.

Are you taking the pish ?

News / France to lift job restrictions on Poles [84]

Poland joined the E.U because they thought that they were going to be bailed out in another more modern Marshall plan like there was for Western European countries at the end of the Second World War.

Thanks to your effing Soviet motherland Poles were denied a great leap forward offered to them by Americans in a form of the Marshall Plan. It's time we fully rejoin Europe where we belong.

Yeah, I'm afraid. Fuel has that strange feature that it always gets more and more expensive, never cheaper :(

So, you don't fancy a good demi-sphere of frozen milk with vanilla, chocolate or other ingredients that make it so irresistible ?

better under soviet occupation than nazi occupation. at least the russians didnt send you to concetration camps and genocide you.

Stalin was good friends with Hitler in exterminating Poles during WW II. Beginning in '39 with massive deportations to Gulag's in Siberia and Kazakhstan, slaughtering thousands of Polish officers and intelligentsia, taking half of pre-war Polish territory and expelling its inhabitants... That shows your ignorance about war and post-war Polish history. You shouldn't give your voice in topics you haven't any clue about, son.

Widze po tobie, ze nie jestes wybredny, u r not fussy I c

Besides, as you're a capitalist sheep you need to be enlightened about some aspects of living in socialist Poland some 20-25 years ago - there wasn't a way to be fussy - you just took what was available (if it was available at all). Ask your lassie, she'll tell you :)

U ran to a man shouting 'Lody'?

You can translate it in two ways:
1. Biegłeś do faceta krzycząc 'Lody' ?
2. Biegłes do faceta krzyczącego 'Lody' ?
You had No. 1 on your mind. I thought you meant 2. :D
That proves the superiority of Polish language to English language. In Polish it all would be clear :)

Sandwich vans aren't that popular in Poland, because it's cheaper to make your own lunch. You're more likely to come across an ice van instead (ahhh, memories, I'll never forget that guy in a yellow duży fiat

Duzy fiat

with a loud bell, selling only one type of ice cream called 'Śnieżynka' and yelling 'Looodyy !!!').

UK, Ireland / Are the Poles in England hated? [450]

I can conclude by the letters of all POLISH here that a huge desperation for being liked by english. They try to convince themselves that they are liked in the whole UK.

Ah, yes, I put on a kilt every day, run about streets begging people to like me, get p!ssed with a bottle of Buckfast, and try hard to say 'hoose', 'oot' and 'doon' and swing that wee watch in front of my eyes and repeat 'I'm a Scot I'm a Scot I'm a Scot' - Are you suggesting that I'm so dumb and naive to try to make every person here to like me just because I'm Polish and they're 'English' ? I've met some xenophobes and I'm disillusioned, Poles here are to do jobs unwanted by Brits, not because they like us so. Nobody forces anybody to move there, so what's your effing problem ? Furthermore, some of our lovely compatriots behave like cattle, drunken and vulgar, and what do you think, who is more visible for an average Brit - these doing good job and obeying law or these barely squeezing out some most basic English drunkards screaming on the streets ? Besides I have a probably better job than your average Pole, and I wouldn't take just anything. You Zeus are a nasty piece of work and embarrassment to the sane part of the humanity. Get a bloody life.

"Wasserpolen"???

I never heard that....

Well, it's a name given to Silesians from Western Poland with German citizenship, who are interested only in making money in Germany.
Different definition (I guess so :):

and infamous Ukrainian SS units in Warsaw (WWII)

If we're talking about Warsaw Uprising, according to Norman Davies, contrary to popular opinion they weren't Ukrainian, but Byelorussian and Lithuanian units (apart from common criminals who were promised abolition of their crimes).

Does that mean 3 in 4 Poles actually like Germany??? I'm surprised....:)

Perhaps more precisely term would be 'don't dislike' :) Although I think that more and more Poles don't look at Germans through II WW prism. Personally I don't mind Germans, however I know that there are many who still consider us as 'Untermenschen' or 'Wasserpolen'.
