Language / how do i pronounce the name Edyta? [22]

Ed-IT-ah is the Polish way to say it.

its like 'it' not 'eat' with stress on the 'it' second syllable.

Getting a straight answer around here is ridiculous.

Love / Tips for organizing Polish-English wedding in Poland with US guests. [17]

Oh give me a break. You think Poland would close the free visa travel it has had for Americans for ages because of illegal Poles blocking visa free travel to the USA for good Poles? That would be petty and really cause problems.

I think they have other things to worry about than crazy speculation.

visas for American citizens :)

What are you talking about?

We need no visa to visit Poland.

For me the weddings here are too long. Two days of disco polo and drunk people bothering you are not fun in my book. I like the smaller dinner party kind of weddings.

Law / Transferring Money To Poland - how easy/complicated is it? [17]

It's not that tough you just need the right info. I assume she will go into a bank in Scotland and send it yeah?

Needed info:

Your full name and address the account is registered to
Your bank's full name and address/branch information
Your Account number
SWIFT code (which your bank should be able to tell you)
IBAN number (not always needed but better safe than sorry...again ask your bank)

That is all I have ever needed at worst. There may be some other rules based on your bank so best to ask them and have mum ask hers. Will save you headaches later to get it sorted before you try to send it.

Life / WHAT WILL $1 and $100 BUY IN POLAND? [20]

You know I am not sure what people are actually getting because I see a lot of listings that never get rented for the same prices. They seem to prefer and empty flat to lowering the price.

I pay 1400 for a 2 room 40sqm flat in the center but have had it a while. I am seeing 2000in listings for the same.

Life / WHAT WILL $1 and $100 BUY IN POLAND? [20]

Thanks for taking the time... the info helps when planning a long trip... what is rent?

You are welcome. Rent is the money you pay to use something for a period of time.

Works both ways see?

Love / Understanding Polish Man [41]

Don't be too hard on yourself as we said it is more likely an issue with him and not your fault.

Communication is key in anything and if one or the other is failing at that bad things happen. Just outright ask him whats up. If he stutters or makes excuses he is trying to get away from this. If he tells you his feelings got hurt or something you have your reason :)

Love / Understanding Polish Man [41]

Listen to the men here. We are telling you how we think and why we act like we do. It is not mysterious and we don't have very many plays in the playbook. We have no reason to lie to you and are more interested in saving you grief than anything.

If you have a fight and make up big deal. If you have a fight and he is resisting making up it means he doesnt WANT to make up and is trying to get away.

Love / Understanding Polish Man [41]

It IS a bit odd for a conversation between "friends". Maybe he thinks you want more and is backing away. Maybe he is a drama seeker and thrives on conflict. Maybe his wife found out you were chatting and got pissed ;)

All kinds of possibilities.

Either way he has some issue.

Love / Understanding Polish Man [41]

Hey Miranda I am just being honest from a guys point of view. We are not complicated and only have a few basic modes ;)

Lilliana I just assumed it was romantic the way you described it.

This is an unpopular opinion here but Poles are offended very easily and have fragile egos. If he felt somehow emasculated or that you thought he was stupid over a language issue it may have been his reaction. He may have also felt you insulted his culture somehow (another thing they are VERY sensitive about).

Love / Understanding Polish Man [41]

It has nothing to do with him being Polish and everything to do with him being a man.

It sounds like he is looking for a way out. When men want out we never SAY we want out. We either try to get you angry so you quit...or we try to hide or avoid you until it fades away...or we make some excuse like he is doing now.

I know it sucks but the fact is if someone is into you they will make an effort to get along and be with you.

Love / Polish Girl ruining my sleep [30]

Why are yuou stalking me by the way ? :|

Tired...old...tactic.

You Pm'd me with some childish attempt at an insult. But you know this. And so does everyone else since I posted it.

I think your behavior is pathetic.

You clearly crave the attention though. You fit the classic definition of an internet troll. That is not some attempted insult but just an observation.

What is wrong with you? Why do you keep posting such nasty insulting stuff? I think he needs to let it go as I have said but you just seem to be pathological in your need to harass people?

Life / PAYING TO TAKE A PISS IN POLAND, it's BIZARRE [77]

It's principle not a financial issue. I am also not sure but I would bet those old ladies only keep half and fork the other half over to the owner who makes a little profit for nothing.

Why not charge for walking on the sidewalk or walking into a shop or looking at the window display?

You are taking something that is free in most places and slapping a tariff on it and it irritates some people.

If I have to pee and it's all there is I pay...but if you can walk 30m for free and have a cleaner bathroom why not? You also arent limited as to how much paper they allow you if you take a dump in the free ones.

It really isnt something I think people worry about all day...just irritating when it comes up and say you don't have change or want a clean toilet (and the paid toilets with attendants are NEVER clean at least in central Warsaw)

Life / PAYING TO TAKE A PISS IN POLAND, it's BIZARRE [77]

Or you can just avoid the pay toilets as there are always alternatives if you look. In the Warsaw underground there is a pay toilet about 30m from the Zloty Tarasy mall which is full of free toilets which are MUCH cleaner but people line up at the filthy pay one often. Restaurants and malls are good bets for a free loo.

Love / Polish Girl ruining my sleep [30]

Seanus read what he wrote...she was never his girlfriend. They never dated. He just thought she 'liked' him but she refused his advances and his attempts at contact. Sounds like he is obsessed and she wasn't interested. This cannot end well.

Love / Polish Girl ruining my sleep [30]

You believe she is married and want to revive the relationship?

Respect her marriage if she is married.

You are bordering on stalking if she refuses contact and you are pushing it. I think a lot about what you are saying is creepy mon ami. Leave it alone.

Life / PAYING TO TAKE A PISS IN POLAND, it's BIZARRE [77]

Nobody said they can't spare it...just that they dont want to pay to ****.

Lot's of places manage without a full time bathroom attendant and entry fees. It is just another money making scam like a lot is in this world.

History / Where did the stereotype of Polish people being stupid come from? [131]

Exactly...it is the kind of thing I have said and then been accused of hating Poland. I do not hate Poland at all but there are a lot of self propelled myths here.

I understand why a lot of them occur but denial of them and lashing out as those who point it out is common.

Why can't people be satisfied with who they are rather than pushing images on the world?

Life / Buying an Electrical Adapter in Warsaw [13]

Where do you live? If there is a mall with a Saturn or MediaMarkt nearby they might have one (it is hit and miss) and the little shops with electrical parts sometimes do as well. (Plac Grzybowski just north of Swietokszyska between Jana Pawla and Marszalowska has a bunch of small shops and at least one WAS an electrical shop a few months back.

USA, Canada / Married a Mexican guy in USA - can I Divorce him from Poland? [16]

I don't have answers but to clarify for those who might...is he a US citizen or a Mexican citizen that you married in the USA?

Hopefully someone will have the legal and simple (yeah right) way to deal with it but there is no way anyone in Poland would know you were married in the USA unless you told them. In the US there is no central registry of marriage. It is done by County(district) and there are over 3000 of them so it is simply not possible for someone to just "search" and find it unless they know exactly where you were married.
