History / Responsibility for Murder of Catholic Poles during WWII ? [172]

Harry

Indeed, now you mention it. Germany and Austria are, as far as I know, the only countries who actually have laws that can put you into jail if you deny the Holocaust. No other country has such laws, except that it's generally not acceptable in Western countries if you do so. I don't know about Poland in that regards, but I take it that it's not accepted there either. But I'm not sure, given the self-pity I see some Poles display here on this forum.

Whoever uses the term "non-Jewish Poles"

It was just meant to differenciate between ppl of Catholic faith and Judaic faith. But I thought that was obvious. I personally prefer to name just the nationality, but since there are some lost souls on this forum who will start shouting "but the Jews were not Poles", I decided to call it like this. And again it's not ok. Some ppl just cannot be pleased, it seems.

While we have laws enforcing the numbers of Jewish deaths imposed on us

Maybe that's because the killing of the Jews in WW2 was a much more international thing than the killing of Poles? There were Jews from all over Europe being killed, while the Poles that were killed were from Poland.

History / Responsibility for Murder of Catholic Poles during WWII ? [172]

scorpio

According to Wikipedia the numbers were like this:

Total Population: 34,849,000
Militairy Deaths: 240,000
Civilian (non Jewish) deaths: 2,380,000 to 2,580,000
Jewish Deaths: 3,000,000
Total Deaths: 5,620,000 to 5,820,000
Percentage of total Pop.: 16.1% to 16.7%

(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ww2_deaths)

It's impossible to determine how many non-Jewish Poles were killed by whom, also to exactly determine how many deaths there were in total as it was such a mess, it will always remain estimates as far as the non-Jewish Poles are concerned. For the Jewish Poles it's safe to assume that the Nazis were responsible for, say, 98% of the killings.

stick your own hate up your dupa you stupid polish hating kapusta head.

I don't hate, I never do. I just called you upon your one-sided reporting of things and your questionable sources.

I converted to Christianity

From what? Muslim? Or Judaism? In the last case it's like the smoker that stops smoking - no more fanatical anti-smokers than ex-smokers. Or is it just because of these two incidents that you hate your former co-religionists? I'm not religious, but if I would be then I would be a Jew.

Food / Growing Wine Drinking in Poland [10]

1. Where do you buy wine?
In a good assorted off license
2. How often do you buy wine?
5-6 times a month
3. When do you drink wine?
One glass with dinner every night
4. Where do you drink wine?
At home with friends, alone or in restaurants
5. Do you feel there is a substantial difference in quality between wine and Vodka in the same price range?
Don't know, to me most wodka tastes the same, only Zobrowka tastes more gross (without the apple juice) while there is a huge difference in tastes where it concerns wine. And a good wine may cost a little.

6. Which countries’ wines have the best reputation in Poland?
Don't know, should be French, but then again I can't speak for Poland
7. What comes to mind when you think of South American wines?
Argentina, Chile
8. Can you distinguish between South American and Chilean wines?
Chile is in South America, therefore Chilean wines are South American, but yes I taste difference in the several kinds of wine coming from there.

9. In an expensive bar, would you choose wine or a different drink (if different, please state which)?
All bars here in Dublin are kinda expensive. Depends a bit in what mood I am and the ambience, so I can't tell beforehand.

10. What factors would make you consider trying a new wine?
Curiosity, recommendations, the label, reputation.

My favourite, yet nearly unaffordable (in PL and IRL - in NL prices of wine are very reasonable) if you have a good one, is Chablis, but when I want a quick drink of wine, I also like a German Rieslinger or even a Graves Superieur. They are nice and sweet, perfect for summer nights.

USA, Canada / POLAND -- A RETIREMENT HAVEN FOR POL-AMS? [30]

although perhaps not as foreign as Bolivia or Germany

I'm sorry but I had to laugh when I read this. You mention Bolivia and Germany on the same equation as being exotic, in aequo stranger than Poland. Germany is one of the most advanced countries in Europe. I think most Americans have more affinity with Germany than they have with Poland. Plus the German language is easier for the Americans than Polish is.

Yes, borderline. It is undoubtly creepy and shameful, but I have yet to hear about them ganging up and burning a cross at somebody's backyard, or lynching them.

You really think any fascist party in any country would actually do that openly? That would outlaw them immediately and give the authorities the chance to make them illegal and arrest them ad random. Unfortunately they have become a bit smarter over the last decade and are careful not to use too much violence openly. They somehow let strawmen do the dirty work.

prance around sieg heiling but dont really do much else

As if that weren't bad enough...When I was at the age of rebellion against everything in society I chose a bit different ways to rebel instead of shouting "Sieg Heil" all the time and wearing Swastikas et al. I made terrible music that nobody liked back then :)

History / Serbian contribution to Poland's independance after WWI [70]

What i want to ask this auditorium- are you aware of this?

Yes.

Edit: with the difference that it was indirectly Serbia was indeed sickening the neighbourhood for Slav independence, however, her primary concern was to create a Southern Slav state, Yugoslavia. She didn't cause all the stirrings with an independent Poland in mind. Polish re-emergence on the map was a consequence of the ensuing WW1 which in turn was a consequence of Serbia's stirring and A-H's desire to teach her a lesson. The declaration of war was in the 19th century a common practice to push your wishes upon the other. And A-H only did so because Germany (unaware of the consequences) said she would back up her in her desire to take care of Serbia. This didn't mean war as Wilhelm 2 declared after reading the Serbian answer to the Austrian ultimatum: "with this all reason for war has been eradicated."

>^..^<

M-G (though it's a little more complicated than the highschool paper you quote, it's basically what happened)

Crow

Another example of the fact that it wasn't intended anything else than a way of putting pressure on Serbia: Colonel Dimitrievic, the leader of the Black Hand, was in a spa in Austria on the day the Austrians declared war on Serbia. He was granted free passage back to Belgrade that day. If the Austrians did mean it as an actual declaration of war, they would've never allowed that and would have kept him hostage. But unfortunately the Great Powers had been running the armament-race too hard in the previous decades, so when the war machineries started rolling, there was no stopping it, even when they tried, they couldn't stop it anymore. It had become too heavy and even though the Czar and the Kaiser didn't actually wanted war, they were not able to stop it anymore once the wheels were set in motion.

interfere in Polish bussines

Well, since my boys and girls cover anything West of the line NorthCape-Warsaw-Athens hence part of Poland is covered as well for the products they support, I have to deal with Polish business every now and then. Not often, I admit, but every once in a while. Polish customers are like any other customers, some are *ssholes, some are nice. We recently had quite a lot of dealings with PL-customers, as there was a patch released that caused some trouble elsewhere and one of our products was literally killed by it. We had a big company in the Poznan/Wroclaw area coming in with as much as 1500 terminals*) affected :( the lady was very rude to the girl that spoke with her and demanded to speak to the manager. Enter me. Only problem was, I don't speak Polish and she spoke a little English, however, we managed to sort it out in German and although she was a big, BIG biatch when she came in, she left happily and I even got invited by her for a "hot night" as she called it. Probably she meant a wild night or a night out, but that doesn't matter :D I'm kinda good in taking off the heat of angry customers and turn them into nice puppies (true!). And I have gotten them transferred through to me from all countries we cover. What I'm trying to say is that ppl are ppl and customers are all the same, no matter from which country they are. They all respond to some basic tricks. True, you have to know them, but if you do, you can turn even the most angry person happy! It's not even hard to do...I will give some tips if there is an interest on how to deal with angry ppl on the phone? Just let me know :)

Edit: *) and this is not even our biggest client: the biggest has about 300.000 terminals worldwide. Don't wanna think when they do a central distribution of the patch to all their terminals :S

i don`t believe it

Actually I know that this is going to happen within the timeframe of 5 years from now. Xerox has already moved there. Why? Because Bulgaria is pulling the same stunt as Ireland did some 15 odd years ago.

UK, Ireland / Another girl from Poland murdered in uk [63]

Ppl are murdered every freaking day of the year all over the world. It's nonsense to put up a thread just because one young female got iced and lament over it when you don't even know her personally? Sorry, don't mean to be harsh, but that is just plain sentimental nonsense.

While I do feel sorry for the girl, I just don't think it makes sense to stop, think, weep and lament every person that gets killed in the UK or elsewhere in the world. It happens too often, sadly enough. What you want to do about it then? More police officers in the street? What do you think everybody's been crying out for for years now? Right, more police to end the general sense of unsafety. Put more lights in dim areas? Do you really think that's gonna stop the scum harrassing ppl or worse?

Oh, and I don't believe ppl who have a job and income are forced to live in slums. Not in the Western world anyway. It's all a matter of choice. They want to take most of their money back to the motherland and don't want to spend anything in the country they live in. It's all about choices, for a few tenners more per month you wouldn't have to live in slums. But I doubt if anybody here sees that logic. However, with this I of course don't condone murder, violence and any other despiccable acts.

Edit: there was a time when they lived with 30 ppl in a 3 bedroomed house, paid about 10 Euros per month rent, bought the cheapest of the cheapest cr*p food and didn't go out or anything, just to be able to take as much money pssbl home to the motherland. That's fine with me, but don't pity them and cry out here that the Poles are living in such deplorable situations and blame the West for it. It's their own choice to do so, nobody else's.

Google, Dell, IBM, Ikea

Google, Dell and IBM are only there because of the Eastern European (Slavic) markets. IBM is moving ahead anyway to India or Bulgaria, as these are more favourable at any time. Dell and Google will do so in the not too far distance.

Halleluyah talk aside, we've heard that 15 years ago in Ireland too. And look what happened once the benefits are gone: IBM left, Xerox left, Oracle left, MS left partially, UPS left. More to follow. When the benefits are gone, so are the call centres, quicker than you can say benefits.

It is not wise to build your economy on call centre services alone. I've worked for over a decade in the field and I know that there is not an industry that evaporates as quick as call centres do. This is because they are cheap to create, the only thing expensive might be the building.

Ikea is not a really good example as they are in just about every country, and are a shop, so don't have anything to do with government support.

In short, I would count my chickens before they're hatched and see where the circus stands in 5 to 10 years from now.

But I do think that Poland has benefitted more from the West and the EU than from anything else, emphasizing "Slavic Brotherhood", which has done nothing for PL, economy wise.

No, but I don't remember that that post was directed at you, Greg.

They think of putting other ppl to sleep and then I cannot think of putting them to sleep? Because I'm supposed to be tolerant? Yes I am tolerant, however, patience with intolerant idiots is coming to an end at one point and I know I would be the same like them, but heck, why should I tolerate that those intolerant b*stards insult me and beat up ppl who think like me all the time and accept it as it's all part of "freedom of speech"? Sorry, but I really think it's time that tolerant ppl should fight fire with fire for once and beat the intolerants with their own methods. For once it should be pssbl. After all: all that evil needs to rise is for good men to do nothing. They flourish only because we don't call it to a halt. It's time this happens. We don't have to kill them, but give them the beating of a lifetime, to get them on the normal track again. Because the behaviour they're exposing is depraved, dangerous and retarded.

Funny how you never come up with Polish counter-examples when somebody says something about Jews. Oh yes, you come up with counter-examples, but only if somebody says something about Poles. Or is this your version of "unbiased" or "neutral"? You're not neutral, not at all. At least not like you always claim to be. Sorry. I remember the outburst you had when I made a drunk remark about Poles participating in the Holocaust. It wasn't flattering for Poles, and you screamed that I lost all credibility. Credibility of what? For pointing out that Poles were not as brandclean as they claim to be? I'm sure I can find more examples of your biased views if I would go through your posts. Sorry again, but don't claim you have neutral views when you don't.

And FYI: I also saw once an American flag-shop that sold flags of the AWB, the Afrikaner Weerstand Beweging. Same as the Nazi flag, only with 3 sevens instead of a Swastika.

Every man has just one ballsack. I think (although I'm not sure) you're referring to the story that he had only one testicle?

Whereas you are an admited Polish fascist

Indeed. But one who tries to "prove" his views with "historical facts", which often only come forth from likeminded, depraved and generally despised individuals. Those are dangerous and harmless at the same time because their views are so retarded that you just cannot take them seriously anyway. Yet you have to watch them closely as they are one step smarter than the skinhead in a stupor who goes out in the streets to demand his "rights", for they can influence this cannonfodder into doing the things they want them to do and appearing innocent at the same time. Anti semitism and racism is the cancer of human society and I just wish this cancer would be rooted out and not being covered under the flag of "freedom of speech" - a very right they want to root out themselves.

I once read that there are shops in PL that sell swastika-flags.
