Oh I haven't had that in years and I don't know how to make kapusta. Can you share the recipe with me? The only Polish thing I make are stuffed cabbage and people love the sauce I make for them. Thanks! Sto Lat!

bigos

One of the many inclusions in my Sylwester dinner. There was no beer - just vodka with fruit juice. Never mind then. But alas! No soup. The soups are fantastic.

I quite liked the flaki I had recently (I think that's what it's called). Some people seemed to turn their noses up at it. Some of them even thought I couldn't tell what it was.

edit: I was typing this message before I saw this:

but Flaki somehow doesnt appeal to me

Wow, a vast array of choice.

The pierogis from Gazdówka are stunning. However, Silesian fare is hearty and filling. Rolada with kluski and modra kapusta (red cabbage) is nice.

Home-made bigos may just take it tho.

Kurczę po polsku (roast chicken polonaise) -- chicken stuffed with stuffing made with white rolls soaked in milk, 2-3 chicken livers, about 100-150 g raw minced veal* and beaten egg, generously flavoured with chopped fresh dill, salt, pepper and a dash of nutmeg. Many people who have tried it actually prefer the stuffing to the roast chicken.

* Some Polish cooks omit the mince and use only liver which gives the stuffing a stronger taste and darker colour. Co kto lubi!

They are the ultimate best meal, but unfortunately no one makes them anymore.

Flaki shouldn't smell if they are cleaned & cooked right. Some people just rinse them off a little and hence the smell & funky taste.

Grilled salmon, some rice and broccoli. I can’t stand bad breath after eating Polish food (especially tons of kapusta and pork)….

Love potato pierogi made with farmers cheese and carmelized onions, Krokiety, and cabbage rolls made with beef and pork served with mashed potatoes.

I made cream of potato and Broc. soup forxmas eve with some cheddar cheese on top, and the kids liked that. They don't like mushrooms but do like the broc. and califlower when I make it with a cream cheese sauce.
