Pretty well, I said (do I need to print it in big letters for you to comprehend?), that Germany will be hit much harder than Poland. Poland doesn't have to buy stuff from Germany or France. This three seas project looks good.

Poland's clearly the weaker partner from a trading viewpoint.

Well poland has a some 9 bil dollar trade surplus with Germany, around 8 with uk and 6 with czechy. Nonetheless around a quarter of pl exports go to Germany.

However that doesn't really mean much. Trade partnerships can be destroyed and formed in no time. For example a 20 bil trade deficit with China would be unthinkable in poland just a few years ago.

Poland relies too much on Europe for trade as it is. Although Poland's been doing a lot more business with less traditional eu partners like Romania instead of just relying on rich western nations. They need to seek new partners both for import and export outside of eu especially eastward. At least they've started to look outside the box and develop partnerships in places like India bangladesh and even Africa now.

Trade partnerships can be destroyed easily, bbutit takes time to develop them, especially if you want a particulary close partnership. Germany is an ideal trading partner, because it is geographically close, has large and wealthy population that seek Polish services and thanks to its' higher wage structure, has trouble with competing with Polish competition. No other country fullfills all those criterias. It would be utterly foolish to throw this away.

You know why we like trading with Europe ? Because it is next door, our roads and railways are connected to theirs, we have the same regulations, no tarriffs, same trading standards, a currency that strongly correlates to the Euro. Why would we throw that away just to trade with unstable dictatorships ?

Yeah, lets rely on poor countries who cannot afford buy our goods. I love your 'logic'.


And because of it, European nations buy our exports. When Poland couldn't export, it didn't and was brilliantly independent from the West.

It is also nonsense that you can build up that kind of relationship at the drop of a hat - something that senile Brexiters and poorly educated Trump voters can not understand - it takes many years of building institutions and mutual trust.

President Trumps speech was a great speech if not at least an O.K. speech.
But because the subject doesn't relate to Russia stealing the election from Hillary Clinton or to an erosion of press freedom by way of Trump tweeting insults at cable news, the drive by's Liberal media are left spitting & sputtering for ways to hate the president just like some of the posting members do here on the P.F.

The Washington Post's news article on Trump's speech described it as "a dark and provocative address with nationalist overtones."
"Nationalist" is the media's dismissive catch all term for any policy that defines the U.S. as an independent country.
Poland sets a perfect example of nationalism which I hope the U.S. becomes more like.

Well if you have such magnificent maths education then you will be able to look at statistics and see that there is a significant correlation between being educated and being informed and intelligent. Not sure if the courses in Moscow State cover such material or if they are still concentrating on grain quotas and steel output.

And you would also notice that the strongest indicator of voting for Trump is lack of a college education. Sample statistic - in the 59 counties with highest level of college education in the US then Clinton increased her vote from Obama 2012. In the 50 least educated counties then Trump increased his vote from Romney 2012. There are plenty of similar statistics available that make a plain case - Trumps lies were aimed at the weak and the ignorant. Now he can get working on delivering what he promised them - reopened mines, tarriffs on imports, a wall paid for by Mexicans and a massive cut to their healthcare. Or is he too busy abusing straw men on Twitter ?

Your argument should be: those without college degrees are probably working lower paying jobs and thus feel deserted by a fast changing society (demographics and technologies). Thus more willing to listen to a change (revert back to the past) candidate. This doesn't make them dumb, they simply face different everyday problems. [Sidenote: Obama should have spent some of his 8 years in office helping convert these "outdated" folks to the new age but instead he kinda did desert them]

I just have a problem drawing the line at college degree. High school - yes. But is there that much of a difference between an electrician, carpenter, car mechanic or (polish jk) plumber in comparison to an individual with a liberal arts degree. Unless you are arguing these liberal courses in for example cultural awareness makes the individual more open to outsiders etc. But that to me borders on ideological propaganda.

IMO this new political argument about college degrees was created because the left knows it controls a significant portion of this industry. As I mentioned my math/science courses never got political. I took a couple accounting/economics courses when I was younger and these involved a bit of politics. But the liberal arts classes for general ed were heavily political. The right should start arguing church attendance is a barometer of morality.

I am not sure you STEM hotshots understand but Liberal Arts does not mean "full of liberals" - this term is related to the methods they use to teach in small class sizes and the fact that they are supposed to give a broad education. Some of the worlds top scientific institutions like Harvey Mudd are Liberal Arts Colleges. So yes I would generally describe those people as better educated than plumbers - not necessarily richer or more useful when your pipes are frozen.

Of course the less educated are more likely to feel left behind. But they are also more likely to see the world in simple terms, to not think through the consequences of simplistic solutions (like imposing tariffs) and are more susceptible to misinformation and conspiracies. Obama could have done more for them but his one signature achievement - to give a safety net to millions of the poorest Americans - is one that Trump wants to undo. In fact I heard that many Trump voters do not know that Obamacare and the ACA are the same thing.

As for judging morality by church going - then of course you can conduct a scientific experiment and prove this hypothesis. I go about twice a month, my wife rarely goes due to apathy, my brother never goes as he hates the church - but I think we have pretty much the same morals.

I read Trump's book and in 300 odd pages of talking about renovating ice rinks and the decor in Trump Tower I do not remember a single reference to him attending church. How does he live his life now ? A serial womanizer, vile bragging, abuse of the weak and those too dignified to answer back. Yet he has the nerve to lecture us about family values and the arrogance to defend Western Civilization when he has embodied ones of its worst traits - realisty TV.

Well it is obvious that those that didn't vote for Trump are Commies that can't stay on topic no matter how many times they are told to and constantly go off on pointless and endless merry go rounds of hate thinking it will help soothe their emotional meltdown about thinking Crooked Hillary actually won the election.

- I understand the role of American colleges wanting to act as some sort of home away from home: 18-20 year olds "self discovery" and thus they want to "mold" a well rounded human and that goes beyond just math, athletics, or even art. I.E. philosophy and critical thinking. I personally enjoyed those courses but when I recently looked at the course catalog at the local university and community college, it has gone a little too far. I noticed significant amount of this under the Communications field. An entire 5 month course about race relations and law enforcement in America?

Americans definitely live in the moment - many Americans spend their entire paycheck on common needs. These people are one accident from possibly ending up on the street. The increased use of internet has closed the gap between the college educated and "the simple folks". And considering how far American media news has declined, I think the gap is overstated. The health care change probably won't be better or worse just different. I still think most Americans want two simple aspects to health care 1)you can choose your doctor 2)Aren't forced to enroll
